  • "Great property in a quiet and tranquil rural location."

Easy enough access to both north and south Devon, as well as Dartmoor. The welcome basket was a thoughtful touch too; thank you. A really minor point, and I mean minor, although there were only two of us staying it would have been nice to have a bath mat in both the ensuite and main bathrooms. Overall an excellent property.

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a lovely review. Good to hear you enjoyed your stay and I will ensure bath mats are are available for future guests. Do hope you visit Church Barn again in the future. Kind regards Owner Property Owner

  • "Stunning! Peaceful secluded setting."

Plenty of space for our party of 7 and 2 dogs. Very well equipped. Bath towels are small a bath sheet would be better especially for the bedroom that doesn’t have an en-suite. Beds comfortable, fan in each bedroom to keep you cool at night. Large garden for children to play in, sadly not totally enclosed for dogs as they can get through to the graveyard/church next door, so did not let my dogs play in the garden, I kept them on leads. However this did not take away our enjoyment of the property or holiday. Would highly recommend to friends for a peaceful, comfortable and relaxing break. Thank you to all concerned at Church Barn. It was perfect.

Just a couple of issues, Settees too low for comfort for most people and bath towels inadequate. Apparently not all visitors empty refuse bins as requested and we found is unpleasant to take other peoples rubbish to end of road in addition to our own,

  • "Lovely house and welcoming note and flowers."

Met Bill and the plumber. Food was left in freezer from previous tennants which we cleaned out. Not ideal. Maybe talk to cleaners? Sofas were v low. It was a great deal of effort to get up from them. The gold cushion covers/cushions in lounge smelt doggy. These need an immediate clean. Bedrooms v comfortable. Fans in each room would be helpfuI. I feel leaving sheets on floor on the day of departure cheeky. The rental should include sufficient monies to incorporate this for the cleaning company. Also asking us to empty dishwasher on day of departure unhelpful. We had to wait around to clear breakfast things. Aside that, we had a lovely stay. Left toilet rolls for next guests as one bathroom didnt have any when we arrived.

I'm really sorry to hear about your experience at Church Barn. I have talked to our cleaners, who usually do a first class job and I think not emptying the fridge was an oversight for which I can only apologise. I have taken all of your other comments on board; cushions have been cleaned, extra fans arriving tomorrow and requests for sheets to be left on the floor and dishwasher emptied, removed from our Welcome Book. The sofas are only two years old, but I will bear in mind your comments when it comes to replacing them. There should be two toilet rolls per bathroom and again, my apologies that some were missing. • "Our annual siblings get together was perfect at Church Barn."

The house was spotless with everything you needed. Comfortable beds, well appointed bathrooms and plenty of seating for the six of us with lovely furniture. Great walks and little villages to explore. One minor thing is the gravel from the house to the garden posed a problem for the dog and her feet, perhaps a couple of sunken stepping stones could be laid. Very quiet with only the birds to wake you in the mornings to watch the rabbits playing on the lawn. The welcome basket was a nice surprise too. We would definitely recommend Church Barn.

Great to hear you enjoyed your week. We really appreciate your kind comments and hope you all come back soon! Regards, Carole and Nigel, Owners Property Owner

  • "Overall a stunning property to stay in, plenty of space for all six of us and the dog."

It got rather warm at times and turning the controls down didn't seem to effect it, but better warm than cold. Everything supplied to make it a home from home. If there was a couple of things to improve it would be bath sheets instead of bath towels and a rubber mat for the showers. We highly recommend church barn. A great base to explore Devon and the welcome gift was a great touch

Thank you for your useful feedback. We will purchase some bath sheets and rubber shower mats for guests’ future use. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay and hope you will visit again. Owners Property Owner

  • "We had a fantastic stay at Church Barn, the property was really clean and tidy and very quiet which is exactly what we wanted."

The location was excellent for walking and exploring. Only 2 small niggles were that the beds were extremely hard and uncomfortable to the point where we had bruises on our hips from lying in them. New mattresses are required! And secondly the garden was not secure with lots of rabbits! The dogs could get into the grave yard next to the garden very easily so we had to keep one of them on lead when in the garden which was a pain! Overall we would come back and recommend the cottage.

Thank you for your review, we are pleased you enjoyed your stay. We were sorry to hear you found the beds hard and felt they needed replacing. Three of the four bedrooms actually have beds which were all purchased new, one year ago. The two king size beds have ‘medium’ gel mattresses which other guests have remarked on how comfortable they are. Property Owner

The house and facilities were perfect and enjoyed by all the family. The kitchen had lots of cupboard space and a huge fridge freezer to accommodate food for the large group of people. The recycling bins in the utility were great Unfortunately on departure we couldn’t find the boxes in garage as stated in the welcome folder to dispose of the recycling. It would be helpful for guests with poor sight, to have the edges of the steps painted with white. I couldn't fault the barn at all it was spacious and everything was spotless and perfect for our family, the welcome pack also included Prosecco, it gave the Barn that special touch . The little hamlet of a few houses and a church was beautiful and so quiet, the church was always open, my daughter used it every day to practice her singing late afternoons (she's an opera singer) we felt a great welcome within the hamlet. The endless good walks without a car was a bonus, where you hardly see anyone. We've had a great holiday with total peace and quiet. We are planning to return.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at Church Barn and the surrounding area, it was lovely and quiet which is what we like."

A couple of pointers for the owners, we found the bed in the master bedroom (super king size) very hard and we did indeed buy a duvet to sleep on, I do suffer from RA and do require a softer bed to cut down on the pain, so it might be ok for healthier people. The underfloor heating was very effective downstairs to the point where we had to turn it down a lot which affected the radiators upstairs as they use the same thermostat, our bathroom was quite chilly, but maybe I'm being picky. Having said all of that I wouldn't hesitate in returning at some point or recommending it to my friends or family.

Thank you for your useful feedback and so glad you enjoyed your stay. The super king bed is a firm orthopaedic mattress, I’m sorry you found it a bit on the hard side. The other two king size beds have gel mattresses which are softer to sleep on. The heating system has a separate portable thermostat for the upstairs. Hope you are able to visit Church Barn again in the future. Property Owner
