  • "The cottage is very comfortable and provided everything we needed."

It is situated within a lovely garden - very private - much birdsong - peace and quiet Host very accommodating yet unobtrusive. Perfect Well situated for coastal walks and minimal car use Highly recommended

The cottage is extremely well equipped and very cosy. Added bonus is the ev charging point.

  • "Delightful cottage beautiful furnishings, colour schemes well thought out."

Kitchen although not big perfectly adequate for us. Very comfortable bed. Feel 4 adults might struggle as only 1 bathroom but for 2/3 family persons fine. Owners exceptionally nice people.

  • "Lovely characterful cottage, well furnished with comfy beds and sofas, good shower and plenty of crockery / kitchen equipment."

Wide range of DVDs and books, and nice peaceful location. Short walk to the local pub which does decent food. Downsides: fridge nowhere near big enough (it’s an under-counter fridge freezer, but the freezer takes up 1/3 of the space, leaving 2 small shelves and a salad drawer plus limited space in the door) and TV isn’t a smart TV.

  • "Tolles Ferienhaus für einen Familienurlaub."

Sehr sauber. Gut eingerichtet mit allem was man benötigt. Eigener PKW Stellplatz vorhanden.

Thank you very much for your feedback, we're so pleased to know you had a good time. Translated (using Google) this reads as: "Great holiday home for a family holiday. Very clean. Well furnished with everything you need. Own car parking space available. Very friendly and loving landlord. Also within walking distance is a nice cafe (5 minutes) and a small supermarket (10 minutes). All in all we were very happy with the house." Property Owner

  • "The only drawback was that the fridge/freezer was relatively small, even for just a couple staying there."

A family of four would struggle to store more than a day's supply of food in the fridge. The whole kitchen corner is quite cramped but perfectly workable. But the owners are very helpful, the location is ideal for exploring the local area, and the other facilities very comfortable

  • "Parsonage Farm Cottage has a lot of plus points."

It is far enough away from the larger towns to feel secluded, but not isolated. Night times are dark, which is something I miss living in a town. Access is easy, none of those terrifying narrow Devon lanes. Newton Ferrers itself is beautiful and it was useful to have a Co-op and Pharmacy with walking distance. The cottage is big enough for four people not to feel on top of each other and the upside down accommodation make it feel quirky. It was also nice to see the period features such as the thick walls and exposed beams. On the down side, the one kitchen drawer is quite difficult to open and close. There were no baking trays apart from the grill tray. There is hardly any storage space for food in the kitchen and there are usually a few essentials in the kitchen cupboards and occasionally a pint of milk or a welcome pack is provided, but when we arrived there was teabags, pepper and some salt, but not in a salt shaker. It was disappointing not to be able to make a drink of coffee after our eight hour journey. Plus the extractor fan in the bathroom is very noisy which impacted our tv viewing in the evenings. All in all, I would recommend the property, but it could do with a few tweaks to make it better.

  • "Lovely cozy peaceful cottage, everything you need for a relaxing week, easy to find, easy walk to the Harbour for beautiful views of the estuary, information left was useful to be able to leave your car at home and do some walks, bluebells and wild garlic in the nearby woods are amazing this time of year, catching the ferry to the other side of the estuary is great fun, South West Coast Path with amazing views within easy reach, loved every minute."

  • "Delightful cottage, beautifully renovated and full of character."

Very peaceful/ Lovely cool shady spot to sit outside the cottage. In heat the downstairs is wonderfully cool due to the thick stone walls. Newton Ferrers and Noss Mayo are delightful villages. They are refreshingly free of tourist shops and litter and crowds; very quiet. The local pubs offer good food and all the residents that we met were very friendly.

Getting away from Newton Ferrers was easier from the cottage than it would have been from the village centre. Handy local shops with friendly staff. Pubs get booked up for meals, but plenty of others in the area. We particularly liked the Rose and Crown at Yealmpton. Wonderful walks from the cottage. Thoroughly to be recommended. Very friendly and helpful owners.

Plentiful walks and sufficient local amenities. Most useful for this stay particularly given the fuel panic was the fact that the local bus ran daily right into the centre of Plymouth allowing over a 5-hour stay to visit sights , museums shops etc.

The owners could not be more helpful or friendly and the accommodation was also ideal for the dog (a nine-month-old springer spaniel pup). The area is lovely and would certainly stay again. Plenty to see in the area particularly if you are a fan of the National Trust. The cottage has character and we liked this. A very cosy place. Thumbs up all round!

  • "Parsonage Farm Cottage was an excellent place to stay."

It was comfortable and cosy and in a very peaceful setting. All arrangements went smoothly and information provided in the cottage was helpful and accurate. We would recommend this cottage for people using public transport. There is a bus stop right outside and the village has very good shops (including a co-op, community shop and a chemist) which provided everything that we needed, and three excellent pubs within walking distance too. There were plenty of interesting walks in the local area which were easy to find using the OS map in the property. It was a lovely place to stay in November, but I am sure it is equally charming in the summer!

  • "I know Newton Ferrers well and I'm delighted to find a cottage so close to the village and all its very special features."

The cottage was lovely, in a very quiet and private setting, and with a lovely large shared garden that is great for dogs and children. If I could have waved a magic wand I would have liked: a shelf within the shower enclosure for lotions and potions, and indeed one in the barhroom itself.More kitchen storage for food items would be nice, and better light over the table. (I wanted to do a bit of drawing and painting). And a picnic table in the garden area would be great - there is nowhere to sit except in the small gravelled courtyard. But otherwise its a lovely property in very desirable location for singles, couples, and families (its a real messing about in the river place !)

Only down side was we felt it was necessary to travel in the car to see surrounding areas etc. There is not a lot at Newton Ferrers, although a very attractive area. Beware of using Sat Navs as they take you down very narrow one track lanes. This did not stop us having a very pleasant week.

About the location

NEWTON FERRERS

Plymouth 8 miles.

A tranquil, picturesque village in the South Hams area of Devon, on a bend of the River Yealm leading up from the South Devon coast (1 mile). The perfect haven for sailors, for those who love messing about near water and for those who appreciate stunning and civilised countryside. There is a local butcher, chemist, post office and grocer in Newton Ferrers and an organic farm shop just two miles away. The village pub, with fantastic views across the water towards Noss Mayo and the creek, serves good food and drink. The area is blessed with many walks that meander along the waterside and across the fields, while to the north Dartmoor's high tors and open spaces beckon those who love wild country. The city of Plymouth with its shops, Marine Aquarium and Barbican quayside area is just 8 miles away while beautiful Totnes with its 'alternative' view on life is a must. If the beach rather than boats is what you seek, you won't do better than the beautiful sands at Mothecombe and Bigbury just a few miles down the road. Both are accessible by road or boat from Newton Ferrers. There are a number of excellent golf courses nearby.
