  • “Comfortable, clean house with lovely views of the busy harbour, some great places to see locally such as the Battery Gardens and Berry Head and can recommend the cafe at the fort.”

Brixham cafe serves wonderful fish and chips at a reasonable price and Breakwater cafe serves an amazing crab salad and Devon CreamTea. The down side of Bay View is the parking, we were able to park on the narrow road in front of the property but we felt anxious all week that the car was going to get damaged (previous guests had left just such feedback) and this took the edge off our enjoyment and we did not want to use the car because of lack of car parking. Any future guests should be aware there are at least 110 steps from Bay View down into Brixham town/harbour.

The property

An enchanting mid-terrace property settled above Brixham harbour, Bay View offers a family of five the perfect opportunity to explore this extremely scenic region of Devon.

With a quirky layout internally and spectacular views at its exterior, there's no better base from which to explore this area of Torbay.

Entering through past the green-painted walls of its exterior, step into the kitchen/diner, presenting you with a homely decor and neutral hues tying in with the contemporary feel of the property, here you can settle around the dining table together to enjoy a home-made meal, with the wonderful range of appliances on offer including an electric oven and ceramic hob, microwave, and fridge/freezer making meal times a breeze.

Moving up onto the first floor you will find the delight of the sitting room, with the electric fire offering that extra aura of homeliness to the room in the winter months, whilst you can also open up the windows and take in the fresh breeze of the harbour along with its astounding views; the perfect backdrop to your relaxing retreat as you kick back on the sofa and flick on the television as the light of the evening sunset fills the room.

Delight in some well-earned rest in one of the three bedrooms, with a double room lying on the ground floor, and a king-size (zip/link, can be twin) room and a single room on the first floor, each benefiting from charming decoration and furniture.

In the warmer weather, be sure to make the most of your garden areas, with the front terrace making a great spot to sip on your morning cup of coffee, while the rear multi-level garden provides the best spot to truly take in your surroundings.

Within walking distance, you can find a wide array of wonder, from the simplicities of shops and delicious eateries serving fresh seafood, to the famous Golden Hind Museum Ship and the historic Brixham Battery, there's something for every taste.

Spend time exploring the beauty of the nearby Berry Head National Nature Reserve as you embark on an adventure along the South West Coastal Path, or take a trip into Paignton to find a beautiful pier, a zoo, theatre and much more to entertain the whole family.

In easy reach of many of Devon's most wonderful attractions and scenic spots, Bay View is the perfect holiday abode at any time of year.

About the location

BRIXHAM

Dartmouth 5 miles; Paignton 6 miles; Torquay 8 miles.

Brixham is a working fishing harbour located on the southern side of Torbay, the area known as The English Riviera, famed for its sunny mild climate all year round. The focal point of the harbour is a life size replica of The Golden Hind, Sir Francis Drake’s ship. The prettiest part of Brixham has small cottages in hilly narrow winding lanes leading to the harbour where all the activity is centred. Home to Britain’s largest fishing fleet which regularly lands their catch in the harbour, Brixham fish market sells to major restaurants in the UK. Brixham is the ideal destination for a traditional holiday with many family attractions around Torbay including two Blue Flag beaches, Paignton Zoo and many regattas and maritime events throughout the year. There are a host of safe cycle trails in the area, the South West Coastal Path and some of the best golf courses in the region. A good mix of relaxation or action, to suit all ages, where you are never far from the sea.
