“On arrival, everything looked great, clean and tidy, with ample facilities.”

However, it was noted the the TV remote control had very obvious brown drips of liquid on it (looked like tea). This being an item that had the potential of being highly contaminated, that had clearly not been cleaned. In the kitchen, the identical drips were noted down the front of the washing machine. I would have dismissed this in ordinary times as a minor issue, however, we are still not out of out covid status, where cleanliness is paramount; especially in holiday accommodation. I felt ...

I felt quite appalled. I am a front line NHS worker and it is vital I remain as safe as I can as I deal with vulnerable patients everyday and have personally nursed covid positive patients myself, as well as watch them sadly pass away with it. With this in mind, I took it upon myself to run a damp cloth with anti bacteria around all the obvious surfaces, table, kitchen surfaces, mantle, TV and stand (again, not something I usually do at all), and was alarmed at the dirt I collected. The second issue was the sofa. This has to be the most uncomfortable sofa I have ever sat on. On further inspection, the seat cushions are so flattened, you are practically sitting on the base. As it is a low sofa to start with, this made standing back up, all the more difficult. So much so, we chose to sit at the dining table for most of the time. Sadly the cottage looks and is a lovely cottage, it's just a shame the sofa is so uncomfortable and that the cleaner didn't take covid more seriously.

About the location

BRIXHAM

Dartmouth 5 miles; Paignton 6 miles; Torquay 8 miles.

Brixham is a working fishing harbour located on the southern side of Torbay, the area known as The English Riviera, famed for its sunny mild climate all year round. The focal point of the harbour is a life size replica of The Golden Hind, Sir Francis Drake’s ship. The prettiest part of Brixham has small cottages in hilly narrow winding lanes leading to the harbour where all the activity is centred. Home to Britain’s largest fishing fleet which regularly lands their catch in the harbour, Brixham fish market sells to major restaurants in the UK. Brixham is the ideal destination for a traditional holiday with many family attractions around Torbay including two Blue Flag beaches, Paignton Zoo and many regattas and maritime events throughout the year. There are a host of safe cycle trails in the area, the South West Coastal Path and some of the best golf courses in the region. A good mix of relaxation or action, to suit all ages, where you are never far from the sea.
