  • "The cottage was well placed for an easy walk into Brixham."

It was very clean and everything we needed for an enjoyable stay was there. Couldn’t fault it.

  • "The garden area let the cottage down, the gravel was badly contaminated with cat excrement and made sitting in the garden unpleasant."

  • "Teacup Cottage is nice and is as described inside."

After reading the reviews I expected traffic noise (there was) and to search for parking. What was not mentioned was the excessive barking from the dog next door at really unsociable hours and the noise from the pub (shouting, screaming, bad language) and outside until 1am. Sleep for our son and two young grandchildren was impossible. I contacted Sykes Cottages and was sent an email citing section 3.10 of the terms and conditions which states neither they nor the owners are responsible for outside disturbances. So just be aware of what you may face. We found a B&B for their last night.

  • "Positives- Very clean."

Comfy beds. Great shower. Good location. Good kitchen. Negatives- no hairdryer. No parking. Barking dogs next door.

  • "Arrived at the cottage at the check in time of 3pm to find that the cottage had not been cleaned following the previous holidaymakers."

Very disappointing especially in Covid times and after a very long drive! Comfortable beds but due to busy road outside the cottage we were unable to open the bedroom windows at night time to let some cool air in due to the noise. Kitchen has all facilities you could need. Personally I don’t think the lounge is big enough to accommodate 4 adults. Convenience store a short stroll away. Parking close by to the property difficult to find and can be a long walk.

  • "Great place to stay at this time of year."

Really homely feel about it, close to town. Found on street parking easily close by and able to load/unload opposite on arrival/departure.

  • "We felt safe and comfortable at Teacup cottage."

It was lovely and clean on arrival. We used the back bedroom due to traffic noise in front bedroom which we are not used to and a bedside table/cupboard would have been useful for the left side of the bed. Parking was a challenge but we always got a space but sometimes we had a bit of a trek back to the cottage. We would recommend Teacup cottage to others wanting to visit the area.

Lovely cottage with all facilities included, only 10 minute walk into Brixham centre, only downside is location which is on a busy road and a few damp patches which probably just needs a lick of paint , Apart from that nice clean cottage and would recommend to others

  • "Lovely clean modern cottage."

Had a nice week in Brixham and this place had all the facilities we needed. The only thing I would suggest to improve would be a couple of fans for on a night as it was quite warm and opening the windows meant noise from passing traffic down the narrow street in front.

  • "The cottage was lovely and clean and the facilities were good."

Unfortunately it is on a busy road and even with the windows closed there was too much noise from traffic and people coming out of the nearby pub for us to get any decent sleep.

  • "The shower seeped away instead of running away so you had to take a quick shower."

The listing does not mention that it is on the main street into Brigham so lots of noise.

  • "Only issues were: road noise, although it dies down at night an awkward turn on the stairs which might be a problem for some people I couldn't find any instructions for dealing with rubbish an iron would be useful even though there is no washing machine."

Sounds very critical, not meant to be. It's a pleasant house and I enjoyed my visit.

  • "A lovely cottage that is comfortable, homely and equipped with all you need."

We enjoyed eating our breakfast in the lovely sunny courtyard. It is a short walk into town and short distance to Berry Head Park (walk or drive) to lovely cafe with views and sunsets. Perfect location for visiting this lovely area (recommend boat trips to Dartmouth & Torquay). A great cottage for self catering.

  • "On the whole the cottage was as stated but was lacking some t."

L.c in the cleanliness and the outside area. The courtyard required weeding, general cleaning and the chairs provided required cleaning before we could use them and were very uncomfortable if sitting out for any length of time. The shower mat when lifted was black underneath and the shower drain was clogged with hair and black slime which my husband cleaned because the water as backing up. The kitchen was well equipped but a pair of kitchen scissors and a new baking tray would have been useful. The area was lovely with shops just around the corner and a short walk down the hill into Brixham also there was a very nice park just up the hill. Overall we enjoyed our holiday the cottage just needs a little extra care.

  • "The property was lovely."

Really clean and everything you needed for a self catering holiday. The only slight problem experienced was on arrival. As there were double yellow lines outside the house and it was on quite a busy road we just unloaded the car and then I went to find parking . Although there are details of how to drive to Penn Meadows in the kitchen I would have found it useful to have this information with pre rental joining pack. My daughter and I had a lovely week and enjoyed exploring Brixham as well as the surrounding "Agatha Christie" areas. Thankyou

  • "The location was very good only a short walk into town."

The cottage was so sweet and very clean. There was four adults but there was plenty of room for us all apart there was only room to sit three in the lounge, one double sofa and a chair , but we managed. Everything you need in the kitchen and upstairs beds where very comfortable and a lovely large bathroom. We celebrated 2 birthdays during our stay and will certainly be going again. Thank you Sykes Cottages.

I loved the pretty duvet cover in the main room and the bed was very comfortable. I really enjoyed the walk-in shower although the Victorian bath was very pretty. All the equipment was well explained in the Cottage file. Overall, it was a very tidy pace and I enjoyed staying there.

The property

A characterful, terraced cottage, within a fifteen minute walk of Brixham Harbour and the South West Coast Path.

This is the perfect base for a family or small group of friends to enjoy a traditional coastal holiday.

The period cottage is accessed via a few steps leading up from the road and once inside the cottage feels light and modern.

The hallway leads into the sitting room with a dining area and a gas fire to warm your toes after a day’s exploring.

Through an archway is the well-equipped kitchen with a door leading outside.

Upstairs are two double bedrooms sharing a bathroom.

Once outside, you will enter the courtyard garden, which is a sun trap providing a lovely quiet spot to relax on a summer evening whilst enjoying some alfresco dining.

A short walk away is the busy Brixham Harbour, on the south of Tor Bay, where over 100 fishing boats land and sell their catch every day on the quayside.

Close to the mouth of Brixham Harbour is Breakwater Beach, which is one of the cleanest beaches on the English Riviera, South Devon’s beautiful bay.

Not only is it a Blue Flag beach, but it has a Seaside Award and has been recommended by the Good Beach Guide.

Further afield, why not take the ferry to Dartmouth, which has a good reputation for fashionable restaurants, interesting boutiques and of course, all the amusement and activity along the waterfront.

Alternatively take a boat trip and cruise up the River Dart to Greenway, Agatha Christie’s former holiday home, and spend the afternoon in the lively market town of Totnes?

For a great day out why not try the beaches of Torquay and Paignton as an alternative.

The English Riviera has more attractions than any other seaside resort in the UK!

This cosy cottage is part of the important heritage of this charming fishing harbour making it a suitable holiday home at any time of the year.

The prettiest part of Brixham has small cottages in hilly narrow winding lanes leading to the harbour where all the activity is centred. Home to Britain’s largest fishing fleet which regularly lands their catch in the harbour, Brixham fish market sells to major restaurants in the UK. Brixham is the ideal destination for a traditional holiday with many family attractions around Torbay including two Blue Flag beaches, Paignton Zoo and many regattas and maritime events throughout the year. There are a host of safe cycle trails in the area, the South West Coastal Path and some of the best golf courses in the region.
