“The cottage is lovely, very relaxing, homely and beautifully presented.”

It had everything you could possibly need. The owner/s clearly put a lot of thought into making it comfortable. Highly recommended.

The property

Perfectly positioned within the vibrant harbour town of Brixham, is the gorgeous terraced cottage, The Tern.

Newly available to the market and following complete refurbishment, this old Fishermans cottage is located in the Harbour Bowl.

Access to the town is via a series of steep steps.

Surrounded by vast coastline and picture-perfect scenery, this idyllic dwelling is a wonderful choice for your next family or group getaway to Devon.

Open up the pretty blue door and be welcomed into the warmth of the inviting sitting/dining room, perfect for unwinding by the woodburning stove on one of the plush three-seater sofas and enjoying an entertaining movie with the help of the Smart TV with DVD player.

Grab one of the many books that line the shelves and snuggle up in the lovely bay window seat, or gather at the dining table with your nearest and dearest as you begin to plan out action-packed adventures exploring the coast.

Take to the galley kitchen that has been kitted out with all the essential appliances for a stress-free self-catering stay, and grab ingredients from the spacious fridge/freezer as you prepare a delicious family feast with the help of the ceramic hob and electric oven.

Step out through the patio door and climb the steep stone steps that lead up to the first-floor garden, ideal for basking in the sunshine on those warm summer evenings, as you delight in dinner and drinks alfresco-style.

On the first floor you will discover a charming family bathroom, where you can indulge in a relaxing soak in the tub or a rejuvenating rinse with the handy overhead shower.

The first floor is also home to two beautifully appointed bedrooms consisting of a restful king-size with a plethora of storage, and a peaceful twin bedroom, due to the room dimensions this is best configured as a twin layout but can be transformed to a king-size to offer flexible sleeping arrangements for guests.

Kick-start your mornings with a brisk walk down to the harbour to see the Golden Hind Museum Ship, and continuing onto Brixham Breakwater.

Embrace the salty sea air and breath-taking setting as you embark on an awe-inspiring hike through the Berry Head National Nature Reserve before setting off along the imposing clifftops of the South West Coast Path to St Mary's Bay and Brownstone Battery.

Cross the River Dart to Dartmouth and spend the day at the 14th century Dartmouth Castle and the Tudor fortress of Bayard's Cove Fort.

Those travelling with small children will relish in days out to the Woodlands Family Theme Park and Splashdown Quaywest Waterpark, as well as the nearby Paignton Zoo Environmental Park.

The luscious landscapes of Dartmoor National Park sit within easy touring distance and is filled with spectacular hiking routes with striking landmarks such as Ditsworthy Warren House and the Merrivale Prehistoric Settlement, together providing a great day out for the whole family.

With so much adventure right on your doorstep, The Tern makes a fabulous base from which explore the very best that Devon has to offer.

About the location

Dartmouth 5 miles; Paignton 6 miles; Torquay 8 miles.

Brixham is a working fishing harbour located on the southern side of Torbay, the area known as The English Riviera, famed for its sunny mild climate all year round. The focal point of the harbour is a life size replica of The Golden Hind, Sir Francis Drake’s ship. The prettiest part of Brixham has small cottages in hilly narrow winding lanes leading to the harbour where all the activity is centred. Home to Britain’s largest fishing fleet which regularly lands their catch in the harbour, Brixham fish market sells to major restaurants in the UK. Brixham is the ideal destination for a traditional holiday with many family attractions around Torbay including two Blue Flag beaches, Paignton Zoo and many regattas and maritime events throughout the year. There are a host of safe cycle trails in the area, the South West Coastal Path and some of the best golf courses in the region. A good mix of relaxation or action, to suit all ages, where you are never far from the sea.
