It makes a lovely get away and is quite central for visiting Devon. The lovely couple who own it were warm, friendly and very helpful, which made our stay even better, thank you.

The grounds are amazing and kept the kids entertained for hours watching the horses and chickens, feeding the ducks, playing badminton and going on the boat round the lake. We also took a cricket set and football as there is plenty of grassed area to play on. The added bonus of the indoor pool was the highlight of the holiday! The owners are lovely and are very helpful with any requests such as recommending places to visit. This is definitely a property that’s on our list to return to! Thank you for a great holiday.

The wildlife is super with deer around on an evening . Between 30mins and an hour to different coastal retreats just a super week had by all . The two dogs were my granddaughter s new friends

  • "The owners were great, helpful and left you to your own thing."

Gave advise for where to go and which road to take. The pool was the same depth and a good size, with a quirky Telephone shower. Large open fire with seating was perfect for us, next to the pool. Pheasant Cottage had all what we needed for cooking. The sleeping on top floor is unusual with 3 beds in the same room, my kids actually preferred this so they could watch tv together and talk. Wifi was a decent speed ( 13Mbps ), we had no buffering when on Netflix. Quiet out of the way cottage for a family, just prep the log fire and light then all sit together with a film. Would love to return in the summer if this virus goes. Thanks for having and making it a nice few days before Xmas.

Phillipa made us very welcome after a long journey with pots of tea and her home made cake. Our grandchildren loved the indoor pool. They and their dog had a wonderful time running and playing games in the huge secure garden, playing on the tree swing and making friends with Phillipa and Peters dogs - Crumpet and Humphrey and Colin the cat! The weather wasn't cold but my husband took great delight in using the wood burning stove - the wood was supplied and replenished every day.

  • "We had a wonderful October week in this lovely cottage."

Our arrival was greeted with the warmest of welcomes (and a tray of tea and cake)! The cottage is beautifully set in a rural location, a proper hideaway. We loved the pool. The cottage is well-provisioned and very comfortable. The only thing I could possibly suggest would be to have one or two larger saucepans - there were five of us plus a baby, the cottage sleeps seven, and had it not been for the fact we took a slow cooker with us for convenience I think we would have struggled with just the pan sizes which were available. We hope to return for another visit one day.

On arriving at the property on the table a letter from the owners explaining that there was wifi but it was not very good that was an understatement if you have broadband & wi-fi surely one of them would work we had no service for the whole week? Also the tele was freeview and that went offline one night we was in bed before 10pm when on HOLIDAY that is not acceptable. Apart from that the area and cottage was good. The small roads might worry some but it was fine even when met a tractor & a lorry. Area very peaceful lots of animals to watch. Wood basket refilled daily log burner kept hubby busy every night.

The owners were really helpful if we needed anything. Beautiful and quiet surrounding and plenty to do in the area, would recommend the war horse farm. We stayed at the cottage with our grandson and his parents and found that there was plenty to do in the large garden with a lake and boat for those pirate adventures on to the island in the middle. At other times the trampoline, rope swing or stream in the wooded copse kept him busy not to mention the excellent indoor swimming pool with a phone box shower. The whole week was great.
