Shop, pub and garden centre serving food is a short walk away along the lane. There is also a garage in the village. Hopefully, all being well we shall return later in the year.

  • "We had a great week at Stables Cottage and it was our second visit."

The cottage is so spacious and comfortable where the bed is one of the comfiest we have encountered on holiday. The cottage is very well equipped and has everything you need. The log burner is fantastic when the evenings turn chilly. The place is so peaceful, you’ll feel well rested. The farm is a delight with sheep, hens and horses to see. We were especially lucky as it was lambing time so we could see the lambs any time we wanted. The hosts are very friendly and welcoming. The cottage is ideally placed in easy reach of Dartmoor, Cotehele and north Cornwall coast. We would thoroughly recommend a visit to Stables Cottage.

  • "A lovely, clean and comfortable cottage."

The owners were extremely friendly and helpful. It was a bonus to be there at the start of lambing season. A bit nit picking but we would have liked a dryer as well as a washing machine. Having said that, we loved the place and hope to return in future.

  • "This was our 2nd visit to Stables Cottage and it was still as wonderful."

It was made extra special by the thoughtful addition of a beautifully decorated Christmas tree, as our stay was over the festive period. Very happy with our visit. As before, lovely towels and bedding and comfy beds. Clean, warm and cosy cottage. Great being able to purchase fresh eggs (from the hens we could see roaming from the kitchen window). Thank you for providing a great place to holiday.

There’s a CO-OP store at the junction. Nice countryside in the area and not far from Dartmoor. Crediton and Okehampton are nearby.

  • "We have had the best week in one of the best cottages we have ever stayed in."

Stables Cottage is so cosy and comfortable and has everything you need and more! The owners have fitted it out to a very high standard. The bed is so comfortable and we slept like logs!! It is so peaceful there and lovely to see all the hens, sheep, horses and some nights we heard owls nearby. There is a good supply of seasonal vegetables to buy from the farm and the butternut squash were delicious. They also sell fresh eggs, but as we are vegan this did not apply to us however, we bought some to bring home for a friend. There are lovely walks from the farm and you are well placed to visit north and south Devon, also Dartmoor. We thoroughly recommend this property and hope to return as soon as we can.

It is the only holiday cottage we have stayed in with no welcome gift, neither were basics like salt & pepper, shower gel & shampoo provided. Despite this, the cottage was clean, comfortable & we enjoyed staying there. We did not use the bbq, as the listing photo showed a gas bbq which had been replaced by a charcoal one. We did not want to by a bag of charcoal & lighting fluid for just a couple of nights.

It had a very comfortable lounge and a perfect kitchen/dining area suitable for keeping an eye on the kids. The bedrooms were roomy and the shower room suited our needs. Everything was clean and very well presented. Wendy and Phil were happy for the kids to cycle up and down the yard provided the main gate was shut and this system worked really well and kept the kids occupied on several occasions. They also loved having the stables close by and feeding the lambs in the morning. The location was very peaceful, just what we were looking for. The cottage is detached with its own garden. Parking is close to the cottage. The owners are great, helpful and informative but definitely leave you alone if that’s how you prefer to holiday. The fresh warm scones on arrival are wonderful! You are right in amongst the farm - cows out one side, horses the other - perfect for us, the boys loved watching the occasional tractor drive past! Location wise there’s lots to do, day trips to Cornwall are possible and north and south Devon are easily accessible. A lovely holiday - thank you!
