About the property

A mile from Ottery St Mary is this very special big manor house dating from Tudor and Elizabethan times.

Full of history and character, it is a magical place for family gatherings or sociable house parties for friends.

The lime avenue leads to your grand Georgian porch into the entrance hall.

Off this is a quiet little study and the magnificent dining room with wood burning stove in a huge fireplace and a long table.

There are three interconnecting rooms in which to relax, all with designer curtains, leaded windows and lovely furniture.

The living hall and the library both seat eight around the woodburning stove, whilst the drawing room, with its grand piano, has comfy seats for six people.

The kitchen, where there is space to cook for everyone, has a friendly farmhouse-style AGA and table and chairs, plus a traditional scullery and pantry.

You will find one twin bedroom downstairs, whilst upstairs there are seven spacious bedrooms on the first floor, most looking over the splendid gardens, and a further five smaller bedrooms in the two attics.

On the first floor you can marvel at two amazing ancient rooms; the Long Gallery houses a display of historical items worthy of a museum, and the remarkable Roof Chamber boasts the roof of the original Great Hall and oak furniture, weddings can be conducted here too.

You can enjoy alfresco meals in the wonderful Court of the Sovereigns, sheltered within the walls of the house, and around the manor are three acres of lovely gardens to wander and play in, with trees, fountains, paths, flower borders, lawns and a large pond.

There is plenty at Cadhay to keep you occupied, but when you're ready to explore further afield, you can browse the shops, pubs and restaurants of the town or get active at the sports centre or tennis courts, and why not head to the old town of Honiton, which also has plenty of attractions?

There are walks to enjoy all around with lovely countryside and woods beside the River Otter, as well as the Coast Path and sea at Sidmouth.

Exeter's city attractions are worth visiting, with a lovely cathedral and green.

Cadhay is a unique place for an outstanding and memorable break in Devon.
