  • "We had a lovely stay at this cottage."

It was quiet, comfortable and very clean. The location was really good, it was within an hours drive from lots of attractions and the exmoor national park was outstanding for beautiful views and unspoilt coastlines, great for exploring. The one drawback for us personally is the property felt very regimentaly managed so once we read the very long list of instructions it lost some of its relaxing holiday feel. All this said we had a wonderful time and was great value for money.

Dear Mathew, I'm glad that you found Tus Nua to be a great value, comfortable and clean base for exploring this beautiful area. I'm sorry if you found the guest information and guidance too detailed. This information is intended to aid guests who need it and is intended to be dipped into as necessary. • "I booked this cottage as a break for myself and my Dad after he had a heart attack 6 weeks ago."

We had the most relaxing stay at Tus Nua. Andy has thought of everything, it really is a home from home. Communication between Andy and myself was fantastic and nothing was too much trouble. The dishwasher wasn't working for our stay but Andy contacted me before the stay to apologise (which definitely wasn't needed but very much appreciated.) If you are looking for a home from home in a quiet location close to Minehead, Dunster, Watchet etc then it is definitely worth staying! Thank you again Andy!

Dear Jane, I’m so glad you found Tús Nua a relaxing place to stay and reset after a tough time. It’s lovely to hear that you appreciated all the little things that help this be a home from home. I’m sorry the dishwasher had broken down before your short break and could not be repaired. I have now replaced it with a shiny new one and can only apologise again for the inconvenience of this unexpected event. Thank you so much for being so understanding! I look forward to welcoming you back if you wish to return. Property Owner

Dear Sarah, Thank you for this kind feedback. I'm glad you were happy with the cleanliness and comfort, and that all the equipment and toys have been useful for you travelling with your little ones. I look forward to welcoming you again if or when you're able to return! Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage in quiet village."

The cottage is geared for kids with a great garden as well as indoor games, cots, stair gates etc. Beautiful, quiet location in Somerset within a short drive to beautiful Exmoor countryside, quaint villages and shingle beaches. Longer drive of 30-75 minutes will take you to Taunton, Weston S-M, Ilfracombe and Tiverton with loads of indoor and outdoor fun. Andy was quick to reply and help out with any issues that we had during our stay, even offering to get fans delivered as it was a bit hot in the night. The only negative aspect of our stay was that the kitchen was not well cleaned before our arrival, particularly the oven and fridge. We have advised Andy, so hopefully it was a one-off.

Dear Yechezkel, Thank you for your feedback. I'm glad you found all the equipment in the cottage helpful and that you've enjoyed lots of exploring of the lovely surrounding area. I'm always keen to help guests in any way I can. My caretaker and I have high standards regarding cleanliness, as is demonstrated by multiple other feedback comments. I'm sorry if something wasn't quite right for you. Thank you for letting me know so that I can strive to improve. Property Owner

The cottage is extremely clean and has all the facilities and equipment you need. Bed 2 not brilliant but does the job. Sofa is completely uncomfortable such that we used a couple of garden chairs instead. We would have liked a shelf in the bathroom but that’s just our preference. All in all a lovely place to stay.

Dear Martin, Thank you for your feedback. I’m glad you found cleanliness in cottage to be excellent which is something myself and my cleaning team strive for. I’m glad too that you were pleased with the location and facilities. I strive to take customer feedback into account and in doing so have recently replaced a firm leather sofa with a softer fabric one. I’m sorry this didn’t suit your preference. Also, the information regarding recycling seems to be out of date as to which box and bag should be used. The collection day was Thursday rather than Wednesday for recycling, and it looked as if the dustbin was to be emptied as we left the property on Friday. However, the property was very clean and comfortable, and we had a very pleasant stay.

Dear Barbara, Thank you for your feedback. I’m so glad you enjoyed your stay and found the cottage to be clean and comfortable. You’re right, some new containers have recently been issued for recycling… I will update the guest information booklet so their use is clearer. Tús Nua Cottage is an eco friendly building and I really appreciate guests taking time to recycle as much waste as is possible. Recycling is collected every Wednesday as described (perhaps your collection was affected by the extended Jubilee public holiday weekend). There are two black bins available for residual non-recyclable waste. These should be placed onto the kerbside on Tuesdays evening for Wednesday collection according to a 3-weekly rolling pattern. As I manage the property remotely, I really appreciate guests taking the time to do this for their own and future guest’s benefit. • "There is no mobile signal, no decent wifi signal, no tumble dryer and no radiators on which washing can be dried - just 2 tiny glass electric heaters."

Which were off all the time. The property was very dirty with mouldy black bathroom, just the one bathroom which we had to bleach on arrival. The front garden was full of huge weeds which our kids enjoyed pulling out. We sprayed weedkiller ourselves as we were there for 4 weeks and we have standards even if the owner and cleaner do not. The back garden was mowed on day 1 of our stay only, and then left so the lawn became overgrown and unusable by the kids. The place was crammed full of baby stuff, even a pram, which we did not need and we had to put it all in the shed to survive! The kitchen was filthy, with a stinking recycle bin and minging dishwasher. The drawers and cupboards were dirty and full of crumbs. Even the ironing board was in bits, this was the only one of our complaints the owner dealt with - he sent another cheapo one from Argos. Oh Joy! We were there for 4 weeks, no cleaner turned up and the owner said he was not paying for a cleaner as Sykes could not make him do so. We did get a linen change, but had to beg. The heating is controlled by the owner via wifi and rarely was it on - even when we begged. What a Scrooge!

Thanks for your feedback. Mobile signal does depend which network a guest uses and a landline phone is provided for incoming calls. There is also a strong wifi signal throughout the property internally. The heaters were on a programme but with thermostatic control which can be over-ridden manually at any time using the control on the heaters as explained in the property information book and I believe I also responded within an hour for further information on this at the time of your stay. As this is a new build eco home with an air recycling and distribution heating system, there are only these two heaters but there is also an electric fire for immediate heat. Cleanliness usually receives high feedback so I would welcome further information or pictures so I can investigate this. Apologies re the garden, the gardener attends fortnightly, apologies if this didn’t happen or there was overgrowth due to excessive rain recently-it will be monitored. Changeover needs were discussed by email prior to arrival, as was done in this case. The property is marketed for short lets rather than long term stays, as a customer’s own belongings on a long let may impact space available - if we had known you were bringing a large amount of belongings, we would have removed other un-needed items. We would have been happy to discuss this at the time we communicated re weekly changeovers if we had been advised. The ironing board was ordered and delivered during your stay, thank you for letting me know it needed replacing. A minor door repair was completed within one hour of being advised, by my caretaker team. While a tumble dryer is not listed and only one bathroom is listed in the advert, thank you for your feedback anyway. Property Owner

  • "We holiday in The UK several times a year and usually opt for 4/5* luxury premises, Tus Nua is rated as 5* luxury and we had a lovely week here however we would rate it as a good 4*."

It's very nice but did not meet a 'luxury' rating in our opinion. The good: Lovely clean, compact newly built house in a quiet culdesac very close to the beautiful village of Dunster, Minehead and with a lovely beach a short walk from your door which the children really enjoyed. The owner was very friendly and helpful and finding and accessing the premises was easy and stress free. Facilities were good and the beds were really lovely and comfortable. Decor is modern and neutral and children's play area in the garden was a real plus. The location is close to lots of places to visit by car and te heating system kept the house warm and comfortable. There were lots of baby equipment available, which we didn't require but would be priceless for those visiting with babies. Not so good: The living area isn't very cosy, it's small and the seating is very uncomfortable and impracticable for a family of 6. We found the hot water system a challenge as it is very strictly set and doesnt provide enough hot water for the day. You need to use the shower to run a hot bath ( as the tap temp is limited) which was fine but the booster didn't heat quickly enough to enable the family to all wash throughout the day. Basic essentials are very limited ie toilet roll & bin bags (1 spare roll and 1 tiny bin bag for a family of 6 for a week) which Is unusual in our experience for 'luxury' 5* accommodation which you have paid a premium for. overall we enjoyed our week here and would recommend this cottage to others as a good 4* Rather than a 'luxury' 5* accommodate.

The village is less than 4 miles from the popular seaside resort of Minehead, which occupies a wonderful sheltered spot beneath the dramatic North Hill, on the lovely West Somerset coast. This welcoming town boasts a mile-long esplanade, providing a wonderful backdrop to the golden beach, whilst the pretty harbour, visited in the summer by the famous paddle steamer Waverley, offers excellent fishing opportunities. Enjoy a nostalgic steam train journey from the seafront on the West Somerset Railway, or visit Blenheim Gardens, winner of many awards for its beautiful floral displays. Renowned for the largest herd of red deer in England, Exmoor National Park with its wooded valleys, pretty bridle paths and heather-clad moors, is well worth a visit, whilst the magnificent Norman Castle at nearby Dunster is a must.
