  • "The cottage was beautiful in a lovely village."

I think Sykes should have advised in description of property the number of properties in the courtyard, the majority of which were owner occupied. There was no privacy whatsoever outside, the patio area was tiny, not a garden, , the view of sea seating was right by bins, and the owner opposite his bin was also in same area. We had his motorhome parked in front some of the week. We would not book this property again. Owner occuppied and holiday cottages are not a good mix, I felt we were being watched the whole time. Such a shame.

Thank you for taking the time to complete your feedback. The website clearly states that the cottage is in a courtyard of other cottages. The holiday cottage/owner occupied ratio has never been questioned but we would advise that should you have any questions regarding this that you contact Sykes prior to booking. The patio area is advertised as being small and is clearly shown in the first photo of the cottage. The recycling area is situated in the corner to the side of the property behind a picket fence with willow screening. We are sorry that the cottage wasn’t the right property for you on this occasion. • "Unfortunately the heating was a real issue whilst we stayed at Bramble Cottage."

So much so that my partner had to go over one evening to the owners own house to ask how to get it back on. The water was running cold 5 nights out of 6 and with 2 children under 2 this was less than ideal. I was unable to bathe them of an evening which is part of their bedtime routine. The heating also was unable to be adjusted. All radiators had locks on, so you were stuck with the temperature regardless of your preference. During the winter months with 2 babies it would have been nice to have had the cottage much warmer, but unfortunately we were unable to change it. My 2 year old son had to sleep in his socks

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. The owner is on site and always available to assist during your stay. You registered an issue with the hot water and she described where the 'boost' button was to provide more hot water. You let her know that you subsequently had plentiful hot water. Unfortunately, you didn't contact the owner again so she didn't have the opportunity to assist further. As an update, the owner has found the heating and hot water system to be working in order. The only negatives would be the armchair near the window was uncomfortable. It needed a more supportive base and the double mattress could do with replacing in the near future. The most helpful hosts and a wonderful selection of treats left for us.

Thank you for taking the time to send in your feedback. The Owner appreciates you bringing these points to her attention. The armchair has been checked, it appears that the webbing at the bottom of the chair has become loose, this will be attended to. The double mattress is relatively new and we haven't received any other comments previously that it isn't comfortable, as you can appreciate mattresses are a matter of preference. About the location

RINGMORE

Bigbury-on-Sea 3 miles; Kingsbridge 7 miles; Salcombe 11 miles; Plymouth 15.5 miles.

Ringmore is a small village in Devon, in the South Devon AONB, one mile from the secluded beach and stunning cliffs of Bigbury Bay.
The Saxon church of All Hallows stands majestically over this quintessentially English village. Ringmore is a conservation village with thatched cottages, a peaceful rural pace of life & an award winning pub, the Journey's End Inn serving cask ales, local produce and a friendly welcome. A comprehensively stocked shop and Post Office is located in St Anne's Chapel, a short drive away and they are happy to deliver. Three different paths lead down to Ayrmer Cove from the village, and connect with the South West Coast Path. Footpaths lead to Challaborough Bay and to the golden sandy beaches of Bigbury-on-Sea, from which Burgh Island is reached by the famous Sea Tractor. Bigbury-on-Sea beach is ideal for family holidays. Everyone is sure to marvel at the huge expanse of sand, enjoy exploring the rock pools, or sample the varied watersports available to the more active visitors. If you want to try something different from the body boarding or surfing, then windsurfing and kite-surfing are gaining popularity here, with hire facilities located right on the beach. For peace of mind, there are lifeguards present at Bigbury-on-Sea’s Blue Flag beach from May to September, and a fabulous café specialising in selling organic and local food; whose surf ‘n’ turf is one of the best in the area. A few miles from Ringmore are plenty of delightful South Hams villages, coastal beauty spots and the traditional English market town of Kingbridge on the estuary.
