The property

Little Scypen is a small single-storey cottage converted from a cow barn joined to the owner’s house on the fringes of Ringmore.

Close to the good food pub and church, this is homely and neat accommodation for enjoying a lovely area.

You have a simple and comfortable open plan living space with handmade furniture, pretty watercolours and attractive views.

Off this are the two bedrooms, a double and a room with bunks which can convert to a single to make more space, plus a couple of steps down to the family bathroom.

The outside is charming and idyllic, surrounded by the owner’s lovely garden full of flowers and exotic plants and the green fingered owner is happy to give you a tour if you like.

You have your own little sunny patio for sitting out, equipped with seats and a barbecue for evening drinks and suppers.

Being in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this is a cottage for walking and soaking up the amazing scenery.

You can follow a ¾ mile footpath to National Trust Ayrmer Cove, a pretty little beach, and to the Coast Path and there are lots of other lovely country walks from the door of the cottage.

The River Erme estuary is also picturesque and scenic.

Coming back to lunch or supper at the friendly inn is a real treat, or head out for the freshest local catch at the excellent seafood restaurant a couple of miles away.

For sand and surf fans, Bigbury-on-Sea and Challaborough offer outstanding beaches and good waves.

For coastal relaxation, Little Scypen is in the perfect position.

About the location

RINGMORE

Bigbury-on-Sea 3 miles; Kingsbridge 7 miles; Salcombe 11 miles; Plymouth 15.5 miles.

Ringmore is a small village in Devon, in the South Devon AONB, one mile from the secluded beach and stunning cliffs of Bigbury Bay. The Saxon church of All Hallows stands majestically overlooking this quintessentially English village with thatched cottages and a peaceful rural pace of life. Ringmore is a conservation village and quintessentially English, with thatched cottages, a peaceful rural pace of life, and a 13th century pub, Journeys End Inn, serving cask ales, local produce and a friendly welcome. A comprehensively stocked shop and Post Office is located in St Anne's Chapel, a short drive away and the y are happy to deliver. Three different paths lead down to Ayrmer Cove from the village, and connect with the South West Coast Path. Footpaths lead to Challaborough Bay and to the golden sandy beaches of Bigbury-on-Sea, from which Burgh Island is reached by the famous Sea Tractor. Bigbury-on-Sea beach is ideal for family holidays. Everyone is sure to marvel at the huge expanse of sand, enjoy exploring the rock pools, or sample the varied watersports available to the more active visitors. If you want to try something different from the body boarding or surfing, then windsurfing and kite-surfing are gaining popularity here, with hire facilities located right on the beach. For peace of mind, there are lifeguards present at Bigbury-on-Sea’s Blue Flag beach from May to September, and a fabulous café specialising in selling organic and local food; whose surf ‘n’ turf is one of the best in the area. A few miles from Ringmore are plenty of delightful South Hams villages, coastal beauty spots and the traditional English market town of Kingbridge on the estuary.
