Steps lead up to the entrance into the big wood-floored sitting room where you can sit beside the wood burner and enjoy meals prepared in the efficient kitchen with its door to open to the terrace table and chairs on a sunny day.
Stairs lead you up to a second sitting room and three bedrooms, one the original hayloft.
There is also a sofa bed in the second sitting room if you wish to use it.
Outside is your terrace and beyond the cottage a lovely big open space of six acres of shared grounds where you can spot wildlife in the fenced pond, picnic and run free in the meadows.
For walkers this is heaven, with footpaths radiating from the door and the lovely River Avon estuary to explore and spot birds.
The village provides an inn or you have a choice of neighbouring villages like Thurlestone and Bantham and Kingsbridge town.
The coastline near Aveton Gifford is spectacular.
You can surf, walk, check out rock pools, play golf and make sandcastles to your hearts’ content.
The Pottery is a lovely base for checking out the delights of South Devon’s coast and countryside.

Aveton Gifford is a small rural village at the head of the estuary of the River Avon in the South Hams area of the South Devon AONB. It comes with a village shop and a pub/restaurant on the outskirts. Nearby you can visit the charming market town of Kingsbridge which benefits from a range of amenities. Similarly, Ivybridge offers a choice of places to shop, eat and drink as well as providing easy access to the Dartmoor National Park which is a haven for lovers of walking and cycling. For a day by the sea, head to the ever-popular coastal resort of Salcombe.
