  • "Very well equipped kitchen."

Refuse was a little confusing. Spacious cottage that was what you needed after busy days exploring the beautiful area. Loved the cottage garden with its hidden corners. We'll situated for catching the bus and walking to the local amenities and beach.

  • "The cottage was beautiful and so was the garden, very relaxing."

Only fault was the very narrow lane to drive up to park and our daughter and family had to park a long way away from the property which was inconvenient.

    Mrs BrantonJul 2021

  • "Badgers is a well equipped , charming cottage with a delightful garden ."

However, there are a few issues that one should be aware of.: Firstly, access to the parking place is a little challenging especially if you have a large car as it has a narrow , uneven sloped approach .We failed to secure a second parking place outside in the street on any day and the closest spaces were about an 8 minute walk away , going out of the village . Secondly, beware of the rubble -strewn floor in the out house .When retrieving the keys,I tripped on the piece of concrete slab on the floor ,propelling myself headlong into the back wall .I grazed my face ,bruised my eye and grazed my shoulder and arm . Thirdly, we found the duvet in the second bedroom ,far too heavy for this time of the year ,(I realise of course , that this is a personal preference ) . Nevertheless, after a shaky first 24 hrs , we had an enjoyable ,sunny family holiday .

  • "The house was lovely - spacious, and full of character."

We only had a couple of small grumbles - the bed in the largest bedroom was quite hard (although that's obviously a matter of personal preference), and the oven smelt quite strongly of meat when hot, and as we're both vegetarians, that wasn't very pleasant! Other than that, it was a beautiful place to stay, and we would recommend it.

  • "Well equipped and well heated for a winter stay, with the bonus of two sitting areas."

Only downside is tight parking and for one car only.

    Mr NorthenJan 2020

  • "This is a gorgeous cottage that still retains many original features and old beams."

Its very spacious and has much charm. The cottage has a lovely garden too. It is well placed for walking down to the beach, a well stocked shop and a couple of nice pubs down the high street. The views in this area are breath taking, truly a beautiful part of the West Country.

  • "Badgers is a lovely cottage in a great position."

Two good pubs The Royal Oak and the George. The Royal Oak food is excellent. Not enough parking at badgers as the house sleeps 6 , but that could be addressed with some sorting out by the garage. Only parking for one car and that’s tight . The size of the arch way needs to be told in the Badgers info from the start as it is narrow and people need to know this .

    Mrs FowlesAug 2019

  • "The only downside was that the garden was a real mess when we arrived."

Great location not far from the beach and brilliant park area

    Mr WalderJul 2019

  • "The cottage is decorated to an extremely high standard - the garden is absolutely stunning at this time of year (late June)."

All the equipment you could possibly need is provided. A wonderful base from which to explore the Jurassic Coast.

    Mrs LewisJun 2019

  • "A pretty, warm and comfortable cottage with everything we needed, with the most beautiful and inspiring garden to enjoy!"

So many different places to sit and relax with a book both outside and in, and lots to do in the area. Would love to come back again, a real home from home in such a great location.

The property

Just 500 yards from the heart of Charmouth and ½ mile from the beach is Badgers, a Grade II listed, and mostly thatched cottage.

This beautiful cottage is surprisingly spacious, stylishly furnished and full of character.

Enter via a large porch - ideal for kicking off sandy shoes, to the dining room.

Two steps up and you're in a comfortable sitting room with a wood burning stove and glazed doors that lead to a raised decked area and look out over the garden.

A second elegant living room has a little window seat and is a good spot for those seeking a little peace to sit and read quietly.

The distinctive galley-style kitchen is small but perfectly formed and more than ample to cater for a busy family.

Steep narrow stairs lead to three very pretty bedrooms – a large king size double, a double with a view of the garden, and a family room with one single bed and a stacker beds.

On the landing is a huge walk-in wardrobe and a large family bathroom.

Outside, the enclosed suntrap cottage garden is tranquil, and just waiting to be discovered, with steps, gravel paths, pretty borders, fruit trees and an elevated decked area with a table and chairs and distant views to Stonebarrow Hill and the sea.

The old coastal village of Charmouth has interesting shops and a handful of pubs, with a long sandy/pebble beach backed by ‘Jurassic Coast’ cliffs - famous for fossils.

The renowned town of Lyme Regis with its historic 'Cobb' is just two miles away or in the bustling market town of Axminster foodies can visit Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s café - River Cottage Canteen.

Badgers is a charming, individual coastal cottage, and a fabulous home in which to relax, unwind and enjoy the ‛Jurassic Coast’.
