In quiet countryside, close to the dramatic coastline of the Hartland Peninsula, the South West Coast Path and the Devon/Cornwall border, is this group of five friendly holiday cottages.
The Stables - once a farm building now a comfortable, characterful, two-bedroom cottage.
It’s all on one level with a wood-burning stove in the open plan living space and an enclosed, sheltered area of the former farmyard with outdoor seating.
Guests are welcome to use the picnic/play area (with climbing frame/swing/slide) and views to the sea across fields and the tower of St Nectan’s Church.The spa room with hot tub and sauna can be booked for private sessions.
Children can join the owners and help feed the ducks and chickens – often pigs too – in the mornings.There’s a good pub, a little shop and museum down by the sea at Hartland Quay where the beach is great for rock pooling at low tide and swimming off the quay when the tide is high.Wander through the woods to Hartland with its village stores, Post Office, coffee shop, potteries and pubs, or to Hartland Abbey House and Gardens with a lovely walk through to the sea at Blackpool Mill.
The magnificent swimming and surfing beaches of Bude and Sandymouth Bay; Westward Ho!, Northam and Appledore are less than 30 minutes’ drive.The steeply cobbled village of Clovelly is a short drive along the coast.

The bustling village of Hartland, with its nearby colourful quay and lighthouse, provides visitors with a wide selection of amenities, including an interesting craft shop, good pubs and several great places to eat. Just one mile out of the village situated within a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, lies Hartland Abbey, where visitors can peruse the stunning collection of paintings and porcelain before relaxing in the Abbey's beautiful gardens. Alternatively the nearby coastal headland of Berry Head, with its dramatic cliffs and coves, offers excellent walking and nature watching opportunities. The pretty, car-free village of Clovelly lies just five miles away and is renowned for its flower-strewn cottages, steep cobbled streets, 14th century harbour and The Milky Way Adventure Park, home to Devon's biggest rollercoaster, whilst a short drive leads to another fun-packed and educational family day out at The Big Sheep, a fantastic adventure park. The unspoilt coastal resorts of Bude, Bideford and Instow are both within 15 miles making this a superb base for a varied and enjoyable holiday.
