  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay."

The cottage was relaxing and the bed was extremely comfortable . The bathrooms are excellent and had everything we needed. I would have appreciated a hairdryer .The facility to walk the dogs were most accommodating and very much appreciated. Our only mild criticism is that the approach of the stairs to the bedroom are extremely steep and this may be needed to be highlighted to people with disabilities . We were most grateful during a hot week of the coolness of the cottage and in particular the tiled floors.

You certainly had good weather and we are pleased that you enjoyed all that Wigham and the locality has to offer. It was good to hear that your holiday was so relaxing! Property Owner

  • "Wow!!!"

Just how fabulous was Wigham Cottage! A true 'home from home' and just what we were looking for whilst our kitchen was being re-fitted. Charming, cosy, spotlessly clean, warm, beautifully equipped and if you're looking for isolation within fabulous countryside, this is the place to be! We have very high expectations but we could not fault Wigham Cottage, which was not only ideal for us but also our two large dogs, who enjoyed walks from the door, not to mention trips to stunning beaches just an hour away, with plenty of other forest/woodland walks in the near vicinity. We would thoroughly recommend Wigham Cottage and it's a credit to the current owners, who live alongside but allow you total privacy but are around for advice and/or issues (not that we had any of the latter!!!)

Thank you very much for your review! We are thrilled that you and your dogs were able to take full advantage of all that Wigham has to offer and embraced the charm of Devon in late Winter. Property Owner

Only negative was we were cold of an evening as the log burner didn't seem to throw out any heat. TV is also tricky if you don't have an apple ID. Delicious cream tea on arrival though. Thank you.

Thank you so much for your review, we are really glad you enjoyed yourselves here. We must say that we were surprised to find, on cleaning the cottage, that you had closed the damper on the flue so I am not surprised that it wasn’t throwing out any heat! Unfortunately you didn’t mention this to us during your stay or we would have been able to rectify it for you. With regard to the TV, as mentioned to you on arrival, you do not need an Apple ID to access the television, but perhaps we could show you how to work the TV again if you choose to holiday with us in the future. The property is absolutely amazing, and totally exceeded our expectations, from the welcome (with delicious local fare), to the Christmas decorations, to the warmth and comfort. Nicky and I felt completely at home, and in fact was a struggle to leave. We joked with the hosts, about us staying permanently. We dont think they realised how serious we were. The surrounding countryside is absolutely stunning, and you are never far from anything, but far enough away to feel like an idyllic escape away from everything. The walks are outstanding, and even the rain in December was not enough to deter our enjoyment. Log burners, warm rooms, the AGA heating silently was just beautiful. We will definitely be back. Thank you to our wonderful hosts, it truly is our favourite, and we still think back to the amazing time we had. We cant wait to come back.

The cottage is ideally located between both the North and South coast, however you don’t need to travel anywhere if you didn’t want to; there was beautiful countryside walks straight from the doorstep. • "Wonderful cottage!"

Seamlessly mixes the character and charm of an old Devonshire farmhouse with the modern comforts associated with a luxury hotel. As you sit back and relax you are surrounded by a real country home feel with exposed beams, a wood burner and flagstone flooring. Then when you’re ready to venture upstairs you discover a wonderfully modern bathroom with a claw foot bath and the most amazing walk-in shower. It is also home to the softest and fluffiest bath sheets you will ever find! It is very tastefully decorated which enables a wonderfully modern bathroom to coexist with a country cottage whereas normally you would expect it to feel out of place. It doesn’t, somehow it just works. The bed is a super king which is huge and seriously comfy. I haven’t had a sleep that good in my life! It was so good that we’ve taken photos of the mattress, duvet and pillows as we want them in our own home. You can tell that the owners put a lot of value in the importance of a good nights sleep and I’m pleased they did. There’s nothing like waking up in the morning and thinking ‘wow’. The kitchen is similar to the bathroom in the fact that it is a modern kitchen in a country home and it works. It has a barista coffee machine, tons of utensils, crockery etc. Everything you need. We packed loads of things from home in case we needed it.... we didn’t. Then finally it’s the little touches that made it extra special. From the cream tea on arrival to the freshly laid eggs and little doggy treats bag for our dog. The whole experience was wonderful and I fully recommend Wigham Cottage to anyone who fancies a relaxing stay.

The lovely views from the windows of the cottage were only bettered by the stunning views to Dartmoor after a short walk up from the rear of the owners grounds. The care and attention shown in refurbishing the cottage was clearly evident, providing accommodation which very quickly felt like home and therefore hard to drag ourselves away at the end of the week. Above all though, Shoshana and Edward were brilliant owners and hosts, and the homemade scones, cakes and other treats were delicious. The cottage is very dog friendly with a flagstone ground floor and a dog proof garden and our canine friend was genuinely welcomed.

(actually part of a 'longhouse'). The owners were most friendly and helpful during our stay. They are very dog friendly and there is ample outside space to cater for our canine friends. The cottage position in central Devon is a walkers delight with walks available literally out of the house door. However it should be noted, especially for those families with children, that the nearest beaches are at least one hour drive away, i.e. Westward Ho, Exmouth with the usual problem of driving on Devon roads. During the summer months a heated swimming pool is available close to the cottage but bad weather the whole week of our stay prevented its use. The cottage is beautifully presented and from the minute you walk through the front door, you know you have arrived somewhere special. The kitchen is well equipped and very user friendly; the bathrooms are finished to a very high standard with a mixture of modern fittings coupled with the feel of the original 14th century building; both bedrooms are extremely comfortable and spacious with lovely views from every window and the downstairs lounge is perfect for relaxing after an afternoon spent by the pool. The heated swimming pool, set in front of the main house and seconds from the cottage's front door adds an additional splash of luxury. The general decor at the pool and surrounding area, along with the wonderful Devon weather we had, had friends asking, on seeing our holiday pics, if we were holidaying in the South of France! The Carter Family were so friendly and engaging during our stay and made us feel most welcome on our arrival, with delicious homemade scones and chocolate brownies; a much needed treat after our drive from Glasgow.
