    We found it had everything we needed. It was beautifully presented and very well equipped. The garden is super too - a large sun deck, plenty of lawn for playing on and access to it via doors from lounge and kitchen. Also totally private. We were a party of 6 adults, 1 infant and 1 dog. It was perfect for all of us. It was large enough for us to have our own privacy or for us all to be together. The owners made us feel very welcome immediately on arrival by leaving flowers, biscuits, wine and milk as well as treats for our dog. The feel good factor kicked in straight away. Woolston is a tiny hamlet but beaches, coastal walks, cafes, shops and pubs are close by. We all loved the beaches and the cliff walks with wonderful views and there are lots of places to visit nearby. This was a holiday cottage of a very high standard and the surrounding area was super too. We will certainly go back.

The property

This roomy reverse-level cottage is situated in a row of converted barns around a courtyard on a former farmyard along a lane on the edge of Woolston hamlet.

Laid out over three floors, wood floors, pale colours and good furniture make this light and welcoming accommodation all year round.

The front door off the shared courtyard leads into your hall with two bedrooms, where you can sit peacefully on window seats and look out across the sunny courtyard.

Charming spiral open-tread stairs wind up to the lofty sitting room with its dining table and cosy wood burning stove for which the logs are all provided.

On sunny days you can throw open the big glass doors to the garden.

There is also a glass door to outside from the smart and efficient kitchen.

Another flight of spiral stairs head up again to the magnificent master bedroom, all lofty with a huge bed and relaxing en suite bathroom.

Outside, your garden is sunny and sheltered with steps up to a seating area where you can light the barbecue amid fruit trees growing on the lawn.

From here, you can head through the gate to a side lane, just right for heading out for walks in this lovely peaceful Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

In the area you will be spoiled for choice of lovely sandy beaches for surfing and sandcastling, or head a bit further to the Dartmoor National Park to walk, climb tors, fly kites and eat cream teas in village tea rooms.

For serious shoppers, Salcombe and Kingsbridge are bustling towns full of interesting little shops and galleries.

For peace or exploring the area, Swallows Barn is a splendid base.
