  • "Lovely cottage."

Comfortable beds. Great kitchen with lots of tools, cutlery, crockery etc. Big TV. Spacious open planned Kitchen/diner/lounge area. Showers with great power (Wet rooms take a bit of getting used to, but, were fine) Safe off road car parking spaces. We were unlucky with the internet which was down most of our week (not the owners fault!) We bought a data package which was fine. We would definitely return and would recommend this holiday accommodation to others.

Thank you for your positive feedback and recommendations. On learning of the the internet issues I immediately informed our provider who has since attended and rectified the fault, while also providing an upgrade. We will look forward to your return sometime in the future. Property Owner

Great to have 2 wet rooms one with a bath plus an extra loo. Warm, well equipped and right in the middle of Chudleigh, but very quiet. A very good Co-op round the corner, and The Phoenix pub/bistro does excellent food, reasonably priced. Highly recommended. Bus 38 to Exeter/ Newton Abbott/ Buckfastleigh etc.

  • "If you don't want to be miles from anywhere then Old Anvil Cottage is in a perfect location."

Chudleigh is a lovely village, and the cottage itself is beautiful, easy to get to and a parking space big enough for two cars, perfect. Also would like to thank the owner for all the instruction manuals for cooker, tv etc, something that is sadly lacking in a lot of properties. A generous welcome pack was a nice touch as were the flowers. All in all a lovely week.

Thank you for your valued feedback - agree with your sentiment for Chudleigh, it is quite unique - no McDonalds, Greggs or Pizza Hut, just local businesses. Andrew's hardware shop is the only place I know where you can still buy loose screws from the box! So pleased you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

  • "Pros - Nice well equipped property."

Central location for visiting attractions. Welcome pack greatly appreciated. Instructions very clear on finding the property. Cons - Not a fan of the wet room shower set up, having to clean up floor after every use and also not having a grab rail for people who are not very steady on their feet. Also no towel rails for drying towels, had to put over door. Chudleigh only has one pub that does food not several as stated in description, and you have to book to ensure a table at busy times. There are two pubs that just do drinks and three takeaways, Chinese, pizza and fish and chips.

Thank you for your generally positive feedback, though surprised by one of your con comments as the the modern bathroom radiators are heated towel rails designed for placing towels over. The bathrooms are specified as wet rooms and after use to remove surface water they require a quick swipe over with the long handled squeegee. Previous guests have provided positive feedback on the wet rooms. I accept that this is one of those "marmite" things. As suggested, Grab rails have now been provided to assist the less able bodied in the main bathroom. At the start of each season we provide local information and sadly since the start of this season Covid and the cost of living crisis has led to the recent closure of 2 pubs in Chudleigh that did food. Hopefully one will re-open with new owners while the other now looks more likely to become a development. (Bishops Lacey now re-opened doing Food) I think the link below from a recent press article provides a good impartial view of Chudleigh. https://www.devonlive.com/news/cost-of-living/devon-ancient-trading-town-valiant-8615823?fbclid=IwAR25dq3W75xwTmE3pzL3iTo2zUPfpkUkakgFVFZkBUBVjlgLqDlqsQzS1HE We really appreciate the pro and con feed back enabling us to learn from your experience of the cottage enabling us to continuously improve it where we can. Pleased to hear that your stay at the cottage was enjoyable, you chose a good week for the weather. We are obviously disappointed to receive your comments on the dust found under the bed and the cooker hood not being cleaned leading us to lose our cherished Sykes 5.0 score rating. We feel very fortunate to have found Anville Cottage and had a very comfortable stay. The listing is 100% accurate having everything you need to make your stay feel like you are in your home, away from home. It has everything you need to cook but it’s location really is in the heart of Chudleigh with its own private parking and a short walk to the supermarkets and great restaurants. The Phoenix restaurant is a must as are the takeaway restaurants if you don’t want to cook. We are very much looking forward to our return visit in January which is already booked. Thank you

Lots of local amenities in Chudleigh and a lovely gift shop, 'Dandelion', in the main street. Old Anvil Cottage has been converted to a very high spec, with top quality furnishings and the beds were so comfortable. Particularly loved the chandelier in the lounge - what a statement piece! The kitchen had everything you might need and more and the lovely welcome pack was much appreciated. The garden was perfect for sitting in the late afternoon sun with a G&T after a busy day out. We had a bit of a problem with the WiFi but after a quick call to Sykes, with a very prompt response, and very speedy emails from the owner, it was quickly sorted.
