  • "Our third stay in this lovely cottage."

Spotlessly clean. Blinds and new sink are great additions. Welcome pack best of any cottage we’ve stayed in. Location is also excellent, we can’t fault it!

  • "Lovely cottage with stunning views from the garden."

Property was in great location, decent pub across the road, most beaches and towns like totnes, Dartmouth and salcombe were in a 20 minute drive radius. Lots to do in area. Lovely hamper with high quality products on arrival which was much appreciated. Negatives: Bathroom had unpleasant smell of damp and the downstairs felt a bit dark, but as it is an old cottage this is to be expected, but the photos on the listing made it look a lot lighter than it is. Mattress not supportive and could do with being replaced, gave us sore back. Cottage could do with some electric dehumidifiers upstairs. It felt very clammy upstairs, it was hard to dry towels between use.

  • "We had a wonderful stay at Furneaux Hatch."

Very pretty little cottage and lovely comfortable sofas and beds. Could do with a couple more oven pans, but not a major issue. The garden was beautiful, with stunning views over rolling hills. My favourite place was to sit on the garden chairs watching the sheep. 1 thing that would be a huge benefit, would be to take down a small section of wall/hedging along the furthest edge of the garden, to create a parking space for the car (accessed by the side lane). Instead of having to park a bit further up the lane.

The cottage is situated in an ideal position for visiting both towns and quiet beaches. The owners were very helpful and friendly and we would like to thank them for the hamper of local goodies waiting for us when we arrived. The dry weather and pub over the road added to our enjoyment.

  • "From the moment we arrived we were extremely impressed with Furneaux Hatch."

The location is ideal and the views of the surrounding countryside are breathtaking. On arrival, our hosts, greeted us with a hamper of delicious local produce including bread and milk. The cottage itself provided a lovely atmosphere of tasteful decorations and furniture in a modernised interior. However, the period character has been maintained in all the rooms. Everything was spotlessly clean and all the facilities were just as we were expecting! All in all we really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it for a short or long stay at any time of year!

  • "1. No bin in bathroom so a bit difficult with young women staying at that time of month."

Indeed no bins provided anywhere except the kitchen. 2. Oddly no side lamps in the twin room at all. For such a well equipped cottage (and it was beautifully equipped), these two omissions are strange. We moved one leaving the double with only one. 3. We knew it was 9.00 am check out but it really distracts from the cottage enjoyment especially with a long drive so we didn't sleep well. It clearly was 10am before Covid because some of the signs say that. Did not see a cleaner so sure it could be moved back. 4. Owner was very helpful as we had a hot water problem. 5. Garden is amazing with a great view that we had not expected.

  • "We had a lovely stay in Furneaux Hatch, it’s a very nice cosy little cottage."

It’s a listed building and very well maintained throughout and very very clean. We were totally relaxed, as was our small dog. Everything you need is to hand and the owners (who are next door) had kindly left a small food basket and made us aware that if we needed anything at all we only needed to say… The cottage is right next to a lovely peaceful church and opposite a quiet cosy country pub, that serve great food, the staff in the pub are brilliant and gave a warm welcome and the dog got a treat and a blanket to sit on bye a log fire… Inside Furneaux Hatch, the ground floor shower room has been beautifully decorated, and along with the well fitted kitchen has under some floor heating.. The open plan living room is cosy with choice of lighting and two fires.. Just before our arrival new custom fitted shutter blinds had just been very well fitted, they look really nice and work so well complimenting the cottage.. Being a listed building I guess they are limited to what they can do but we thought that a very old lovely old cosy cottage has tastefully been merged with up to date facilities including good Wi-Fi.. Outside, with the cottage being quite high up it gives the opportunity to see some fantastic views all around, this gave an added pleasure to walking the dog down the lanes.. Although the cottage itself doesn’t have its own car parking space it was easy to find a space close bye…. 20 yards up the road is a post office/small store.. Right outside the cottage is a bus stop where No 3 bus stops on the hour linking Dartmouth to Plymouth and the towns between, so we left the car parked and went out on the bus taking in the fantastic views… Our weather was mixed but didn’t spoil anything. Thank you M for a fantastic week… We will be back……

Thank you for your lovely feedback. We are glad you enjoyed your stay and we look forward to seeing you again. Property Owner

The cottage was clean, warm and had everything we needed. Malcom and Carol were very welcoming and dropped in briefly to ask if there was anything else we needed which was lovely. A generous welcome hamper with local produce was a lovely touch and extremely appreciated. The cottage is very well placed near to Bantham Beach, opposite a lovely pub and has the most wonderful views from the rear garden. After our busy days out it was always so relaxing to return to the cottage with the log burning fire, hot shower and a very comfy bed. We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely give it 5 stars. We look forward to returning shortly.
