  • "Hidden Treasure is thoughtfully and ingeniously designed to offer a comfortable place to stay and enjoy Brixham."

All comments on the excellent shower, the comfortable bed, the treats and helpful hosts are accurate - the parking video was especially helpful. The sofa is not the comfiest sadly but it's a challenging space to fill. There are so many excellent places to eat in Brixham that I didn't take up the challenge of using the 2 ring hob!!

Clean, comfy, ideal location, and every care taken to make you feel at home. The cottage is five minutes walk away from the main street but very quiet. I spent a lot of the holiday reading my book on the terrace outside the apartment - very relaxing. Friendly neighbours and amazing hosts. We only met Sam once but knew they were at the end of a phone if needed. Highly recommended

  • "Hidden Treasure was a very nice place to stay."

Short walk into Brixham, and came with a parking space which is essential, as Brixham is difficult for parking. The only problem I had was the settee, which was so uncomfortable to sit on, as well as the chair in the bed area. Some comfortable seating is essential. Apart from that I had a very enjoyable holiday.

  • "We had a good time at HiddenTreasure Brixham, great harbour views from the studio apartment but, a bit more outside space would have meant we could have spent more time enjoying the views and doing some reading enjoying a coffee and cake etc."

I think the owners were amenable to us using their garden space during week days when they are working after we approached them as they appreciated we left it very clean and tidy however, this would be discretionary of course. An important point is the studio is on a hill that’s great but good mobility is important to enjoy this studio location to the full.

About 10.00 pm at night they would attempt to come on but remained lukewarm at the top and cold at the bottom. There was an electric heater but you had to sit right on top of it to feel any warmth. Sofa was very uncomfortable. Bed however was extremely comfortable and the shower was excellent.

Hi Claudette, thank you for your feedback which we always take on board. The heating is set to come on 8am-11am and again 4pm-10pm however it will only come on if the temperature in Hidden Treasure drops below 19 degrees but if you would have contacted us as it says in the book we would of happily turned it up, unfortunately we didn’t hear from you so we didn’t know. Perfect for our needs, the property was well maintained & extremely clean and, the little 'extras' were a lovely touch. The small patio overlooked the working Harbour and it was time well spent sat there with a book & a drink. I would definitely return to 'Hidden Treasure' and recommend both Brixham & the property.

We were very cold but better when heating on. On the whole clean until stripping the bed then we found it was all very badly stained.

Hi Susan, thank you for your feedback which we always take every comment on board. The mattress is less than 3 years old. At the start of every season we buy a brand new mattress protector & it was only replaced in February. We wash the mattress protector every week so its always clean for our new guests, please accept our apologies if you feel it was not up to standard. Sam & Darren Property Owner

Hidden Treasure is indeed a treasure. Small but compact and wonderfully set out with everything you need plus lots of personal extras. A bottle of Prosecco awaiting us, plus tea, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits, milk, chocolates and crisps all in a wonderful Treasure Chest. Lots of seaside memorabilia and trinkets added that personal touch. Sam and Darren thought of everything, including a video of the easiest way to get to the property, plus a car parking space to ensure the perfect relaxing holiday. The weather was kind to us for our week long stay with a perfect view of Brixham harbour every morning to start the day. Would recommend eating at The Curious Kitchen, fantastic brunches and staff, plus The Old Market House, again fantastic food and staff who made us very welcome. Also worth a visit, Brixham Maid close to the Curious Kitchen, to get some of the most delicious homemade jams, pickles and chutneys and a friendly service. Would definitely recommend Hidden Treasure and hope to return one day. Paul and Diane

  • "The flat was very clean and almost everything you could need has been supplied."

The location is great and the parking space a real bonus. I feel the flat would benefit from a few more power points. A double socket by the dining table so you could use a laptop or just for charging a phone. Another one by the kettle, cooker area as there are 4 appliances and only 1 double socket. There are not many channels on the tv so maybe an upgrade is required or just a retune. I only have basic freeview at home but get lots more channels. Some more outside lighting would help as it was quite dark along path into the property. The central heating only comes on at certain times of the day. There are no heating controls in the flat, its controlled by the owners. There is an oil filled radiator in the flat that can be used as and when required. These are my opinions and others may be very happy with the setup and all the things i have mentioned, meant in a constructive way, may not be a issue for them. Overall i had a good time in Brixham and surrounding area.

We were delighted to find out that it was in a historic property. From the listing we weren't sure if it was a modern apartment. It had great charm and the limited space had been arranged really well. The views from the window above the kitchen sink were stunning. Having a parking space is a real bonus. We didn't move the car all week as it was so easy and quick to walk down to the town centre and there was so much to see and do. The bed, pillows and duvet were incredibly comfortable and the shower room was sparklingly clean and the shower was powerful and hot water was plentiful. The owners had thought of many little touches which meant we were short of nothing. We would definitely stay again.

Absolutely loved Brixham. It is a cosy, friendly town, very scenic and has some good restaurants. Walks to Berry Head; a ferry trip to Torquay; a boat trip out into the bay to get up close with dolphins; watching the trawlers come back with their catch; a trip to Agatha Christie’s summer home by car and river ferry; a play in Paignton; exploring the replica Golden Hind ship; lovely local ice creams; fish and chip suppers, and a great Thai meal — these were all highlights of our week. The cottage is very bijou but has most things you need for a week’s stay. It’s best to eat out, as preparation and cooking space is minimal: a good excuse for not cooking! We used it as a base for exploring the area. So much to do around this coast! If you did want to eat in the accomodation it has all the facilities. We tend to eat out when away and especially in Brixham as there was so much choice all within walking distance. The accomation was a 3 minute walk to the harbour. It really was a bonus having the parking space so we didn't need to worry about trying to find somewhere to park. On the first day the satnav took us to the property up the smallest of roads but we soon found a better way in. We didn't need to contact the owners during our stay but it was a nice touch that they shared their number in case of any problems. They also left a very welcomed bottle of wine and tea/coffee making bits too. Overall I would recommend this as very good value for where you are located and the parking space included. Brixham was so much better than we expected too and the surrounding areas (we walked to Paignton along the coast path and Berry head in the other direction , visited Dartmouth, Salcombe, Torquay, national trust places; Greenway, Coleton fishacre, Compton castle and Overbecks) Thankyou!

Once the car is parked off road behind the premises it is easy to forget about using it. The town is very walkable and easy to explore. It is also possible (with binoculars) to see the resident grey seals swimming around the pontoons and resting up during the day. Some lovely walks and trips out using it for a base. The walk up to Berry Head is easy and rewarding. Three out of four visits there resulted in views of Harbour Porpoise and Common Dolphins from the cliff top. Also the cliff top restaurant is good place to stop off for a breakfast. 'Hidden Treasure' was well equipped and offered warm and cosy comfort for our January stay. About the location

BRIXHAM

Dartmouth 5 miles; Paignton 6 miles; Torquay 8 miles.

Brixham is a working fishing harbour located on the southern side of Torbay, the area known as The English Riviera, famed for its sunny mild climate all year round. The focal point of the harbour is a life size replica of The Golden Hind, Sir Francis Drake’s ship. The prettiest part of Brixham has small cottages in hilly narrow winding lanes leading to the harbour where all the activity is centred. Home to Britain’s largest fishing fleet which regularly lands their catch in the harbour, Brixham fish market sells to major restaurants in the UK. Brixham is the ideal destination for a traditional holiday with many family attractions around Torbay including two Blue Flag beaches, Paignton Zoo and many regattas and maritime events throughout the year. There are a host of safe cycle trails in the area, the South West Coastal Path and some of the best golf courses in the region. A good mix of relaxation or action, to suit all ages, where you are never far from the sea.
