The property

This semi-detached house is situated in the little Dartmoor village of Throwleigh, just a few hundred yards along a lane from Dartmoor’s open expanses.

On the ground floor you enter via a porch with an excellent shower room into the sitting room with snug wood burning stove and windows looking to front and back, including views of pretty countryside.

The bright kitchen with dining area has glass doors to the garden for letting in the sunshine, and the solid fuel Rayburn will keep you cosy, and there is also a conventional cooker for preparing meals.

A utility room is a great place for depositing damp dogs and coats.

From the hall, stairs take you up to the three bedrooms with their country style wood floors and fabulous views from the double over the surrounding peaceful fields and moors, plus a bathroom.

Outside, head up the sloping path shared with the friendly neighbour to steps up to your terrace with bench for enjoying the balmy Devon sun.

To the side and rear of the cottage, within a hedge, is more garden with lawn and patio, a lovely spot for children to play on the swing and with the outdoor toys or to enjoy outdoor meals at the table and chairs.

With a natural river plunge pool, a prehistoric stone row and Shilstone Tor within a mile, as well as a good food pub in a nearby hamlet, this is a relaxing spot for exploring Dartmoor on foot, by bike or on horseback.

Okehampton and Chagford have good town facilities, or Exeter’s cathedral city is just 18 miles away.

Clampitts is a lovely peaceful place for enjoying your Devon holiday.

About the location

A picturesque town at the northern point of Dartmoor National Park in Devon, Chagford is small in size but is packed with amenities and things to do. There is a wide range of shops as well as four pubs. Chagford also has more active facilities such as public tennis court and an open-air swimming pool to enjoy at your leisure. It is a village of great history, home to the Three Crowns Hotel which dates back to the 1200's. Chagford is well known for its culture, hosting film, literary and music festivals in the village as well as an annual running race. Just over 15 miles away is the bustling, beautiful city of Exeter for a different kind of break, definitely worth a visit. The charming, attractive town of Okehampton sits just 12 miles away.
