  • "An excellent, well equipped holiday home on the edge of Combe Martin."

Exceptionally clean house and comfortable beds. Plenty of parking and close to a Co op supermarket. Very quiet.

  • "One of the best holiday properties we’ve stayed in for a very long time."

The property is recently renovated with all the modern facilities you need. The location is perfect and was so peaceful. You would not think you were in a village setting. The beds were very comfortable with great quality linen. Throughout the property every detail was thought of and it genuinely was a fantastic house. The only note is the WiFi doesn’t reach the furthest bedroom but that just needs a booster. (Just a small suggestion- it did not affect our stay) This honestly was a beautiful place to stay and we are very much looking forward to future visits and would highly recommend. Thank you also for the lovely welcome gift. The owner was very friendly and made us feel very welcome

It is the perfect location from which to explore the coastline of North Devon - Woolacombe, Ilfracombe, Staunton Sands & Croyde - enjoyed them all! The property is perfect and felt like a home from home with everything you coii you ls possibly need. We will definitely return!

  • "We had a great stay at Glen Rise!"

The house is done beautifully and has everything you could need. It’s very spacious and comfortable and we felt very at home there. The location is lovely with a short walk down to Combe Martin beach and lots of walking trails around. Also a close drive to lots of lovely places. This is one of the nicest properties we have rented for a holiday. It takes us a while to find somewhere suitable for our large greyhound that has a safe secure garden for her and this was perfect. We enjoyed some afternoons on the decking that has nice comfortable furniture for relaxing. We will not hesitate to rebook in the future!

  • "A fantastic well equipped (although a cloths line prop might be helpful) property set in a tranquil setting."

Not overlooked and friendly neighbours, the lane is only a problem if you don't take basic care i.e. checking the way is clear before pulling out. It is close enough to drive to the sea front and a good base for discovering North Devon and it's hidden charms. The decking area is a great place to unwind and eat in the evenings. Although we vacuumed etc. This is not what we came on holiday for and a clean in the middle of the fortnight would have been nice, as we have had on previous Sykes booked holidays. The recycling rules were easy to follow but quite a lot of rubbish had built up by the end of the 2 weeks. Having said all that I would recommend Glen Rise to anyone as a place to relax and recharge while exploring a beautiful county.

Kay, Many thanks for the fantastic review. Irrespective of the length of stay, the waste and recycling should be disposed of weekly. I can only apologise that our waste contractor has not expedited. Forgive me for misunderstanding what your expectations were regards the mid-stay freshen up. I wrongly assumed you only required fresh bedding and towels. Your stay was only the 2nd fortnightly booking we have had since launching at Xmas, I am clearly still finding my feet! No excuse, I should have clarified. Rest assured, we welcome feedback and have taken your comments on board Kindest regards, Greg Property Owner

  • "This property is perfect in every way!"

It is set in a peaceful lane with a Coop very close. You can access all the lovely beaches in the area by car very easily and the setting of the property is stunning. The Sykes Cottages profile doesn’t really do it justice. The way the place is decorated, how the space has been used, the fittings, blankets on the sofa, kitchen equipment (literally missing nothing you would need), the size is bigger than it looks, the decking at the back is perfect with views to die for as well as a beautiful meadow and the sun is always on it in the afternoon, if you take dogs the patch or grass at the front is perfect and safe, the bathrooms and bedrooms are stunning, pillows and duvets so comfortable, high quality towels for everyone, the owner is so helpful and replies to any queries, welcome pack of wine and scones just so lovely to come in to. THANK YOU GREG!!

  • "We spent a very comfortable week at Glen Rise in Combe Martin and would definitely recommend staying there as a base for north Devon."

The bungalow is very clean and very well equipped, a real home from home. The decking was an absolute gem for the afternoon evening sunshine, a perfect place to be at the end of the day.

  • "Glen Rise proved to be a perfect base for a north Devon holiday."

In the lovely village of Combe Martin its tranquil setting proved a hit with the family. The quiet of the surroundings coupled with the suntrap of the decking veranda made this the perfect stay. Not forgetting the fantastic property itself and high level of finish and furniture from the beautiful well equipped kitchen to 3 very spacious and comfortable bedrooms, All in a fantastic highly recommended holiday property. An easy walk down to Combe Martin beach and pubs and only 10 minute drive to Ilfracombe it gives great access to everything. We had 6 adults (3 couples) and a dog and plenty of space all round.

  • "Well it's absolutely perfect, we have been visiting Devon and Cornwall for over 30 years and I can honestly say Glen Rise beats all of the properties we have stayed in, we always go for 5 stars, Glen Rise is outstanding."

Everything supplied is to a high standard. Quality beds, showers, kitchen equipment just everything is sparkling clean, I just hope the standards stay like this and visitors treat the place with respect, as the owners clearly care about comfort and cleanliness. It’s spacious living area with country side views, large decking area, with quality chairs, 3 large bedrooms each with 3 loo’s and a large bath. Heating was instant, showers & appliances were excellent, really can’t fault this place. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We would love to return back to this delightful Village and the friendly people of Coombe Martin. I recommend Glen Rise without doubt. Pubs were great, We met so many nice locals, Thank you so much for making it so comfortable. Karen Duffell

  • "We just stayed for a week in Glen Rise and had a wonderful time."

The house has been newly renovated and clearly done with a lot of love and attention. The space is perfect, plenty of room, with a large kitchen/dinner/living room area so everyone can be together whilst cooking, eating and just generally hanging around. We were four adults and a teenager and found the room worked well. We cooked almost every night and found the kitchen is well stocked with utensils etc. and nice to use. Everything was super clean, with linen and towels all provided, and the beds were very comfy. The house was lovely and cosy and the heating kept the place nice and warm (which was needed as we had slightly inclement weather). On days when the sun shined, we ate out on the decking and the two of us that like birds spent a long time looking over into the trees, and across the hills, to see what we could spot. The owner was really nice and helpful too, suggesting places for us to visit and checking in with us to make sure everything was ok. I would go with his recommendations for visits, the walk over to the Hangman cliffs and around Hunters Inn were both spectacular. We had a lovely relaxing time and would definitely recommend, both for the beautiful cottage and for the amazing scenery around.

  • "Perfect for people with dogs because of the enclosed gardens both front and rear decking - which also supplied lovely garden furniture with lots of room."

Appreciated the roomy parking area - especially being able to unload our suitcases so near to the entrance gate. The owner made us feel so welcome with the wine, cream tea and dog packs that they left to greet us. The place was so homely and, clean and very comfortable, we had a wonderful stay. Overall we would thoroughly recommend a stay here and Greg the owner was so approachable via text with any queries during our stay. Lovey part of the country with so much to explore. Thank you so much!
