  • "Stayed as mature couple."

Excellent cottage with a well equipped and modern interior. Everything inside was spotlessly clean. Beds and bedding good quality and gave us a good nights sleep. As per previous reviews access to the cottage takes care as narrow with a tight turn. As located off the main road is very quiet. Local shops and pubs within easy walking distance. Flowers and cream tea upon arrival much appreciated.

  • "Had a fantastic stay at kiln cottage, had everything we needed for our week, the settees were very comfortable as was the king size bed."

The patio outside was nice to sit on and enjoy the weather, combe martin beach is just down the road and the pack o cards inn is pretty much a 2 minute walk and does a fantastic carvery and we also tried the burger another night and that was fantastic too. All in all I would definitely recommend the kiln cottage.

Thank you for the scones and milk. We found the house a great base for exploring the area and walking the SW coast path. Glad that the narrow entrance to where you park was highlighted, we brought our little car and it was fine.

Very comfortable cottage, well located in the heart of Combe Martin. Well presented with everything that you need for a great stay. Beds were comfy while the lounge area was good for four adults. Warm and cozy whilst the cream tea, cut flowers and milk were a wonderful welcome. Nothing to fault for us. Thank you for a great stay.

  • "We had a lovely stay as a family of 4 at Kiln Cottage which catered well for our needs."

The accommodation was warm and spacious, the beds were comfortable and the shower was decent. It was ideally located to visit lots of local attractions. As we did lots of cooking the only thing we found lacking was the need for a decent chopping board.

  • "Kiln cottage was a nice and cosy place to stay with enough room for a family of 5."

The turning into the cottage is very tight (as stated in the details for the cottage). We arrived to a yummy scone and cream along with milk, tea, coffee and sugar which was perfect after a six hour drive. Information was left for using the facilities. Plenty of towels and very comfy beds. Combe Martin is very nice with tea rooms and gift shops. We mainly drove out to go to the beach (Woolacombe and Saunton Sands) as we prefer sandy beaches to the rocky one in Combe Martin itself. Overall a pleasant stay and already looking to come back to Devon again best year!

  • "Lovely cottage in an excellent location."

The approach road was quite tight with a few potholes but no problem. The sofas were a bit low but overall really good. The smoke alarm started bleeping during our stay but we messaged the owner and her son changed the battery that day.

  • "This property is in central Combe Martin very close to other neighbours."

There is indeed a tight entrance but our Megane managed it well. The surrounding area is beautiful and peaceful as was the cottage. We enjoyed Exmoor, Lorna Doone country, the Lynton/ Barnstable steam railway where we were visited in the skies by a White Tailed Sea Eagle, very exciting! The neighbours were friendly as were locals. We had a super week location wise but will not return as we like to experience other areas.

  • "Lovely cottage, very clean and tidy."

Perfect for our needs as a couple and the time of year. Only suitable for maximum of 3 adults, due to third bedroom being bunk beds, however this is stated in the write up. We would have liked a blind in the bathroom due to this window (although obscured glass) being at the front of the house. There is a patio to the side of the property, but this is not very private. However, being the time of year (March) we didn't use this. The garden is not usable as stated in the write up. There is a pathway to the other side of the property which other neighbours have access to and goes directly past the lounge window. All in all a great base for walking and the nearby coastal paths in North Devon and visiting nearby Exmoor

The cottage was lovely and warm (we were there mid December) well equipped, the bed was comfortable, sofas were very comfortable, lovely shower just would have liked a blind at the bathroom window. It is a lovely quiet location. It was also nice to have scones and clotted cream for afternoon tea, also a lovely welcome touch with the flowers Will definitely be returning.

We were a group of 5, 3 adults and 2 children and it was perfectly set up for us. It was clean, comfortable and very homely. Great location to walk to the beach but also as a base for exploring places like Ilfracombe and Woolacombe. The flowers, scones and cream were a nice welcome!

  • "Lovely clean cottage, it smelt so fresh as we stepped through the door."

Plenty of space for a family of 4. Shower was powerful. Sofa was comfy (squashy but comfy, despite what previous reviewers may say!). Upon arrival we had fresh flowers and a cream tea waiting for us which was a lovely touch. Location was good - we could walk to the beach in under 15 minutes with our 5 and 7 year olds, and we did several of the local walks (little hangman was our favourite) straight from the door. There is a lack of pavements around there so may not be ideal for younger children. Overall, we would definitely recommend this cottage and wouldn’t hesitate to stay again!

Previous comments re the sofa will be down to personal preference - we found them comfy. Agree regarding the previous comment on the cutlery - they could be improved. A few other comments that would improve the experience: - a bigger (or more) chopping boards. - invest in some chopping knives (only found a bread knife and a serrated knife). - washing up brush would have been useful. - a bigger toaster that holds 4 slices. - an ice cube tray for the freezer. Hope that doesn't sound too harsh!

It had everything we needed. We couldn't believe how peaceful and quiet it was and it was only a 10 - 15 minute walk down to the seafront. The weather was very kind to us and we were able to sit out on the patio for breakfast in the sunshine. We also made use of the BBQ one evening.

Sue provided a cream tea for us, which was a nice surprise and there were fresh flowers on the table. We really enjoyed exploring the area and felt that we managed to squeeze in visits to lots of different places during our short break. Coombe Martin also has a good little pub overlooking the beach - a great way to relax at the end of a full day!

  • "We were unable to get in touch with the owner on our first night, then next day no hot water there son came to check boiler and got it going."

Like previous customers the settees are very uncomfortable especially for someone with a bad back like my husband. The entrance is really tight if you have a long car like our a Mercedes 220 my husband has driven large plant machinary so even he found it difficult, on inspecting the car we now have plenty of scratches down one side from the overhanging shrubs from thd left hand side of the lane. The entrance off the main road onto Water Lane is tight too but easier if go past and turn round at the pub and come back on yourself. We left on the Thursday losing two nights because of the discomfort of the sofas. This will be the last booking we will make with you as we were also disappointed with last years cleanliness of the cottage we had at Portknockie. Plus we had problems with payments for Kiln Cottage.
