  • "Loved the cottage, very well equipped nothing missing, garden was ideal for the dogs."

All in all one of the best accommodation’s we have stayed at.

  • "A very comfortable well equipped cottage."

As described the stairs are very steep and although we just about managed at 76 and 80 years old it could proove a problem for elderly folk.

    Roy was really helpful too.

  • "A really lovely, peaceful cottage."

The owner has thought of everything with the exception of one small thing. The TV is a relatively old one and doesn't get catch up, netflix etc. It would not cost a fortune to buy a new Smart TV. That aside, we loved our weeks stay there. The cottage was spotless and rarely for us when we are away from home we slept really well. An added bonus is that the village pub is very good. We ate there 3 times and on all three ocassions the food was good and the prices very reasonable.

  • "We have really loved our stay in 1 Gabberwell Cottages."

We have two dogs and the beautiful garden is really well fenced and there is a great walking field on a public footpath two minutes up the road. The log burner was great for ambiance in the evening although we didn't really need it as the radiators were very efficient. Everything was thought of and the cottage was excellently equipped. So many lovely touches to make us feel welcome. The cottage is in a superb position for exploring the Devon coast and countryside.

  • "A lovely cottage, really well equipped and obviously cared for, we enjoyed a very comfortable and cosy stay."

The garden was very pretty and would be lovely to enjoy in the warmer weather. The 'extras' which were left - wine, milk, a cake and the flowers, were a lovely touch and much appreciated. Great location for enjoying the amazing Devon coast paths at any time of year.

We enjoyed the village and the people. The local pub is definitely worth a visit. The beaches were amazing at high tide. A truly happy experience.

The goodies on arrival were a lovely touch too. We considered re-booking for the same time next year, but as the cost for this cottage has hiked by £350 a whopping 53% increase, we’ll have to look elsewhere.

The cottage and its location perfect for a relaxing holiday. Lovely, warm and comfortable. Perfect size garden for our furry friends. Many days spent at Wonwell estuary. Highly recommend 1 Gabberwell. On arrival milk in fridge, two divine sponge cakes and fresh flowers...lovely.

  • "Lovely cottage, lovely greeting- cake, flowers and milk."

well equipped kitchen, even a knife sharpener. Only fault in kitchen was where it is half conservatory there were no blinds for the glass roof, so our dogs were a bit nervous and they barked at the wrong time of day/ night. Hot shower, nicely presented bathroom, and downstairs toilet. The two Patio steps were a bit deep. Garden is fenced adequately, could do with being a bit higher at the bottom of the garden. Next to a farmers field which was growing some kind of grass. Pleased it was not livestock, as we have young dogs who are very curious about other animals. If you want peace and bird song, with only the odd car noise, this is the place to come. Would thoroughly recommend. Would hire again, but would take our own pillows.

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback, we are pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay at 1 Gabberwell Cottages. Since your feedback, the owner has added an additional step to the patio. We look forward to welcoming you back. Property Owner

Quiet rural location on edge of village but with easy access to The Dolphin pub and the beaches and walks, The enclosed garden was just right for two grandchildren and the dog to have fun. Good place to go jogging from too.

  • "The cottage was well prepared and comfortable."

It is a shame however I had to pay £10 for additional wood for the fire as the cottage description said fuel and power were included.

  • "Hi my wife and I enjoyed a comfortable and pleasant stay at 1 Gaberwell Cottage in September The Cottage is very cosy and contains all the facilities required for our stay."

The location is lovely and the village and local pub (The Dolphin) are both picturesque and nearby. There are a good number of walks a short drive away, with beaches where you can walk with your dog, in the summer months. The Dolphin needs a mention as we did not see it possible to walk and enjoy a meal at any of the other surrounding village pubs. Food and beer is good and meals plentiful but you must book tables on the days you wish to eat, as the local inhabitants use the Pub for celebration meals so even Monday can be busy! The shop at St Anne’s Chapel is good to visit and has most things you need for days out rain or shine. Yes we would love to visit again with our dog Charlie.

  • "The property was perfect and the owner helpful, as we were due to arrive in the middle of the night."

We had a fantastic holiday and would thoroughly recommend the property. However, Sykes Cottages managed to take the shine off by ringing me the next day to ask if I had "accidentally packed" (their words) two chopping boards from the property! Offensive suggestion and deeply unimpressed.

  • "The property was literally home from home with all appliances in the kitchen that you would provide for yourself."

There was a good size television ; essential during a World Cup tournament !! The Dolphin pub was a gentle stroll away and a pleasant part of our routine at the end of the afternoon. The only criticism is the description of Womwell beach and estuary being a mile away. It is a much longer walk which meant only a couple of visits instead of making it a daily ritual.
