  • "This property has the potential to be outstanding."

It ticks so many boxes for dog lovers.. The location is stunning the cottage is beautiful. With fantastic walks and a lovely pub on your doorstep. Attention to detail for the dogs with secure garden, dog bowls and bed is certainly one of the best cottages we’ve stayed in over 20 years. Where it fails to deliver is internally. Not enough chairs in the lounge for 6 adults although the dog sofa is a really great idea. Only 4 wine glasses (one was cracked), not enough crockery or pots and pans, not even a potato peeler. What really lets it down is the oven. Christmas dinner was almost ruined (had it not been for the cooking skills of one guest and a frying pan!) due to the fact the gas Aga delivers virtually no heat. The fan oven does not work the grill and standard oven fail to reach any cookable temperature and a couple of gas rings won’t light. With just a bit of attention to detail this property would be fantastic and we would have no hesitation in recommending such brilliant place for a perfect break. Please deal with these and several other issues and it’s such a shame potential customers may overlook this excellent property.

About the location

COCKINGTON

Torquay 2 miles; Paignton 3 miles; Exeter 22 miles.

There are a number of villages that lay claim to being quintessentially English, but Cockington, with its narrow country lanes, traditional thatched cottages and charming village pub, is the real deal. Take a walk into the village centre and you will find the Tudor manor house, Cockington Court and its scenic acreage, featuring beautifully restored lakes and points of interest such as the Gamekeepers Cottage. The Manor is now a craft centre offering the opportunity for visitors to watch craftspeople at work and to purchase any number of handmade gifts. If you needed any more reasons to visit this quaint village, it would be its proximity to the bustling capital of the English Riviera, Torquay. Famous for its tropical plants, golden beaches and Victorian frontage, Torquay is a busy seaside resort offering visitors everything from fine dining, sailing and water sports, a popular theatre scene, as well as vibrant nightlife. Despite being only a half an hour walk from this lively centre, Cockington remains an oasis of calm and tranquillity, meaning that visitors can easily enjoy the best of both worlds.
