“To sum it up in one line ; We had a fantastic stay !”

The Granary Cottage was as described. and petite, cozy enough for 2, and thankfully away from the madness of the real world ! A great wet-room, under-floor heating, a double bed-room downstairs that you walk into from the front door, an upside-down lay out with the lounge-kitchen upstairs . A great location for so many days out, National Trust building`s including Agatha Christie`s summer/Christmas home with outstanding views. The Dartmouth Steam railway to Paignton , running along side the River Dart and the sea, A reminder of sad times past at Torcross, with the Tiger tank Memorial,a memorial to lives lost in a D-Day excersise that went tragically wrong and many lives were lost . An amazing 13th Century pub, ( which stops serving food 2-6pm ..we arrived at 2.15 ...) with a beautiful church next door , with stunning stained glass work and headstone`s dating to the 1600`s..Nearby is Fast Rabbit (!) Farm Gardens, and beautiful walk around the gardens and ponds for £5. We drove down many, many narrow lanes...some only 6ft wide, with passing places...great fun.... Practise your reversing skillls before you go...8=) Negatives ?..If technology is important when away...then the small TV and slooow wi-fi might not be agreeable...BUT with such a huge amount of places to go to locally....why bother....8=) The supplied directions to The Grananry were spot-on, please remember to open/shut the 6 bar gate each time you arrive/leave otherwise the chickens will escape !!....8=) The hosts , Rosie and James went above and beyond duty, when our 6 yr old Mini had battery problems the evening before we were due to leave, with James using his Land Rover and his jump leads to help out, also he got a battery charger and extension lead out so we could plug in at the barn, and be ready to leave the next morning. Thank you both for your kindness. Overall , we would definitely recommend The Granary 100%
