  • "Beautiful cottage, really well presented and well maintained."

Lynda and Kevin were the perfect hosts, there if you needed them but not in your face. The cottage is dog friendly and as such there are many little touches such as a bed, a lead and feeding bowls. Outside the wild birds are catered for, gold finches are prolific. There's a lovely public walk down by the river Okement where you can see otters, I didn't see any, maybe next time. I can honestly say that Lynda and Kevin have thought their project though and have catered for everything to make a visitor welcome and comfortable.

  • "We had a fabulous stay at this beautiful cottage, feeling right at home."

We especially loved the thoughtful touches such as the freshly baked bread, butter, eggs and milk left in the kitchen and bottles of water by the beds. I loved spending time watching all the wildlife in the garden including some amazingly colourful birds, a red squirrel and we even saw a deer in the field around the corner when walking dogs one morning. My youngest dog Cooper very much appreciated the dog bed that was there for our use and the enclosed garden was perfect for letting the dogs out. I would highly recommend this place to stay and hope to be back soon.

  • "The owners were lovely as was the cottage."

If I was to point out something it would be that the curtains in the lounge do not block out the light well enough to watch the tv during day light hours.

Hi John, thank you for your feedback. Since your stay we have bought a black out blind for the sitting room and it seems to be working well. Thanks for pointing it out to us. Best wishes Linda Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage, furnished with care, creating comfortable ambiance, fresh home baked bread ,butter and eggs were already in the kitchen, and fresh flowers were in the rooms."

Bedrooms are stunning and the whole place was good to come home to after a day exploring. Our small dog was completely at home as were we, lit the fire each evening and found all the programmes we could wish for on the very smart TV ! Plenty of room for our little car and safe enclosed garden for our dog.

  • "Very friendly with homemade bread, fresh eggs, milk left as a welcome gift."

The owners next door were very helpful without being intrusive. Beautiful gardens and nearby walks for dogs. It is very close to a main road - noise didn’t bother us, tho I’d imagine in summer if you had all the windows open, it might be a slight issue. All in all it was a lovely place for our short break.

  • "The cottage was beautiful but the downstairs accommodation didn’t lend itself to being able to sit in comfort as a group."

One large sofa bed which was very uncomfortable and a couple of small chairs meant that most evenings we went to our bedrooms to stretch out and relax. Would recommend swapping lounge and dining room round. Cottage was also near a road which at times was both noisy and busy, didn’t mention or show this on description/photos. Hosts were fantastic and couldn’t do enough for you.

  • "The Old Mill at Jacobstowe is a beautiful spacious but cosy cottage, furnished and decorated throughout to a very high standard."

It's perfectly placed in a rural location with easy access to lovely walks locally and further afield on Dartmoor. We stayed at the cottage over Christmas and on arrival, the house was warm and welcoming; the woodburners were prepared and Linda has left freshly baked bread, mince pies, butter, eggs and milk - and a bottle of Prosecco!. Poppy, our golden retriever, was well catered for with a comfy dog bed, dog treats and dog towel! The cottage was decorated for Christmas with a lovely Christmas tree and garlands. The view from the back garden was fabulous; several species of bird visited the feeders in the garden, including a woodpecker! We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely property and would highly recommend it.

Very well appointed with lots of nice finishing touches. Everything worked and it was perfect for a relaxing few days. The location was brilliant for exploring the area with great walks, some starting from the property. There was no mention in the details about the cottage being so close to a busy Aroad. It did not ruin the holiday we were just surprised but we did eventually get used to it. Linda and Kevin were very helpful and as it is a new let they were happy for any suggestions and ideas. The owners have done a superb job of converting it into a comfortable, charming cottage, full of wonderful features. We could happily live here permanently! Lots of nice touches - eggs, fresh baked loaf, veg from the garden, milk etc. all made for a great first impression. Many nice features to make this an enjoyable stay. We were blessed with good weather, so were out a lot, but could easily stay inside in comfort if necessary. Although north of Dartmoor, the cottage is very well situated and we found many lovely walks within a 20-30 min drive. There is also a walk from the cottage door down to the river, where our dog enjoyed a swim! We definitely plan to return.

It certainly exceeded our expectations. The scrupulous attention given to provide everything you need in the holiday was unbelievable. It had more facilities than what was described on the website including fresh vegetables, soft drinks, snacks, dog food, dog towel and poo bags. The pictures shown on the website don't justify the actual beauty of the actual cottage. We highly recommend it.
