  • "A beautiful barn conversion in a lovely village."

Very comfortable with a beautiful garden full of wildlife. Kitchen was very well equipped, the only thing we were missing at the house was cling film/kitchen foil and coffee. Usually they are left in houses when we stay. Everything else was perfect. We did have to check with the owner where the freezer was and we couldn't find it, but it's located in the Laundry room and accessed from the garden. There are lovely walks around the village and the otter pub was fabulous. We hope to return.

We are glad that you enjoyed the Barn and location however please can you explain what was missing in the accuracy of our listing so we can update this. I think a score of 50% is a little unjust without explanation. I also think your comments ware a little unfair on the lack of coffee You were provided with a Devon cream tea on arrival but it is self catering so we do expect guests to bring their own provisions and coffee is very personal in taste/brand. We also emailed you a welcome guide well in advance and provided a printed version on arrival that clearly states "The utility room (out through the back door and to your left) houses a fridge / freezer" so we did say where to look for the extra freezer space. • "What an amazing holiday cottage!"

Looked beautiful in the photos online but even more amazing in real life. A stunning tranquil place to relax and enjoy the beautiful gardens. Could not fault a thing! A perfect place for a family catch up for all generations with plenty of space for everyone to eat together. The inside is very spacious too if the weather is less kind. Lots of interesting artefacts, books and games etc. I have never stayed anywhere that had a kitchen with everything you could ever need too. Could not recommend The Barn enough and did not want to leave!

While located in the countryside it is very convenient for some of the excellent beaches around the area, so offers the best of both worlds.

The barn and gardens were stunning. The owners were delightful and left us a wonderful welcome of scones, jam and cream. We picked rhubarb for a crumble and can't wait to go back x

  • "Wow, where do I start?"

We were a family of 8, the eldest 72 and the youngest 3 years. There is plenty of room inside and outside that you're not under each others toes. The Barn had everything we needed, the only thing missing, if you're taking toddlers, the bath is big, but there is no slip mat in the bath, so possibly take one with you, but that is the only thing I can think of that wasn't available, however, this had absolutely no impact on our break. We sat on a few evenings watching the bats emerge from the roof space above bedroom 4. They are amazing little creatures. We used the fire pit to toast marshmallows on a evening. We also used both the bbq and pizza oven. I like to run in the morning's and living in a very flat area, this made it slightly more difficult, being hilly, but well worth it with stunning views. The Otter Inn is very close by which we used and also Heron Farm. They have a lovely play area and the food in their cafe is so delicious. We all felt so relaxed and slept so well. The only downside is we didn't book long enough, we all wanted to stay on for another week.

  • "Lovely property with lots of character."

The garden was well kept & haven for wildlife. Our grandchildren loved making pizzas & cooking them in the pizza oven . They also had a great time toasting marshmallows on the firepit. Lots to do in the area. Would highly recommend Donkey Sanctuary at Sidmouth. Within 5 mins walk of the property would recommend Heron Farm vineyard ( great restaurant ) & The Otter Inn. We visited many of the beaches on Jurassic coast all within 30 mins drive. Jonathan, the owner, provided us with lots of very useful information on the area. We had a great holiday & would recommend a stay at The Barn.

  • "The barn provided excellent spacious accommodation for a week long family get together, this included 7 adults and two dogs."

The open plan living/kitchen area was ideal. The barn had a great log burner and central heating making it cosy on wet cold days.. The bedrooms were spacious and bathrooms were great with ample hot water. The barn was dog friendly with tiled and wooden floors. Barn packed with amenities and nice touches plus an invaluable utility room. Welcome pack a really nice gesture. The owners were on hand to help if needed but no way intrusive, I needed their assistance to be directed to a reliable honest repair garage. Local pub two minutes walk, great local beers and nice food with excellent 2 for 1 offers. The local farm shop was brilliant with a great coffee shop. Would definitely stay again.

  • "We really enjoyed the Barn - it was the perfect location for a very special Christmas."

Very comfortably furnished and to a high spec. Some nice personal touches like the paintings and old photos made it much more homely than the average holiday let. Jonathon and his wife were on hand next door for questions too. Beautiful local walks and an excellent local pub for a Christmas drink completed the picture.

The Barn is home to a summer breeding colony of Soprano Pipistrelle bats in the eaves; these beautiful protected creatures are absolutely harmless but can occasionally be heard moving around and chattering at dusk and dawn, giving the dwelling an extra unique touch.

The patio area boasts ample seating and pizza oven, so you can dine outside on a warm summer day for a special occasion.
