  • "Great stay, no notes!"

  • "We really loved our week stay here."

We thought the barn was beautiful, comfortable and warm. Loved the wood burner in the evenings with use of logs in the log store. The barn was well equipped including books, games and jigsaws, etc. just one point… the saucepans are very big so a smaller pan would be useful in the kitchen and the downstairs loo doesn’t lock. Wasn’t a problem but thought I’d mention. We had a very memorable time in the barn celebrating my 60th birthday and Christmas with the family. Definitely planning to stay again one day.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at The Barn and the owners have done a great job creating a wonderful holiday experience."

We tried the wood fired pizza oven in the garden and loved the result. There was also plenty of seasoned firewood for the wood burner which kept us snug in the evening and our 3 year old grandson loved the back garden for a game of hide and seek. For those who love some books to browse there are plenty on several book shelves on all sorts of topics, and you are well located for the Jurassic Coast and an easy short walk to the excellent Heron cafe and local pub. Overall you will love The Barn if you are looking for a unique and individual retreat.

Location is good with supermarkets only a 5 minute drive away. Owners left a lovely complimentary pack and also left us fresh eggs on the doorstep mid week. Would definitely recommend to family and friends. Would also recommend a trip to canonteign falls!!

  • "A wonderful barn with welcoming hosts."

It was everything we would want for a multi-generational family holiday. The gardens are beautiful and we made use of the pizza oven (on two occasions), the bbq and the fire pit (the younger generation toasted marshmallows). Jonathan introduced us to the chickens, not forgetting the rooster, and we made friends with Hebe, the spaniel. A lovely welcome pack on arrival as well as fresh eggs during the week. Thank you both for making our stay so memorable.

  • "We had a fantastic time at The Barn, which offered everything we needed to come together under 1 roof as a family."

There was plenty of cooking equipment, as some of us are keen cooks. The owners were really lovely and welcoming. There were fresh scone, cream and jam waiting for us on our arrival. The only grumble we had, is that the double beds were too hard! Everything else was better than you can see in the pictures. Highly recommend this place!

Many thanks for your feedback and positive comments. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. I'm sorry you found some of the beds too hard for your liking, it's a bit of a subjective one and as they say, you can't please everyone all the time although we try our best. Regards. • "We had a really lovely time at the Barn."

The facilities were as described and the hosts were available for any issues we had - and delivered us some lovely home grown greens from their vegetable garden which we very much enjoyed! We were an extended family group and the spacious nature of the place made it work great for us, we all had plenty of space to enjoy our time. The outdoor space was beautiful and we made full use of the pizza oven and fire pit. I would highly recommend the Barn to anyone heading over to Devon, it was also well located for us to explore the coast and other local towns.

  • "On the whole we were not disappointed with this property."

It's a lovely characterful barn conversion and the gardens were absolutely beautiful. The delicious welcome tray of scones, jam and clotted cream left by the owners was very much appreciated after a long journey. There were 6 adults and one 3-year-old in our party, and there was more than enough seating for everyone and plenty of cutlery and crockery, etc in the kitchen. The property overall, was well equipped, however, the ground floor bedroom had no dressing table and, even more mystifying, no mirror! In my opinion somewhat of a necessity - and something I expect from a 4-star rated property. I don't think I've ever come across this before - and I've stayed in a lot of holiday cottages! The huge wall which could have easily accommodated it was covered in a massive shelving unit filled with books and two redundant chairs across the other half of the room. Also, the main light switch to this room is outside in the corridor - so remember to switch it off before you get into bed! The property seemed to be quite clean - however, quite early on in our stay something was spilled on the main downstairs floor and as we mopped it up with kitchen towel, we were shocked at the amount of dirt that come up on the towels. I appreciate we are in the countryside and dirt will get walked in, but the floor seemed like it hadn't been mopped/cleaned properly in a while. That said, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay (the general consensus with our party was that the beds were a little too firm - but that's personal preference). We had fun using the pizza oven (but were unable to find a pizza cutter – maybe we just didn't look hard enough). We also lit the fire pit and toasted marshmallows while watching the bats fly around in the evening and had great fun playing hide and seek with our three-year-old grandson in the beautiful quirky garden. There are lovely walks nearby and Sunday Lunch at the Otter Inn was delicious, as was lunch at the Heron Farm Shop, just along the road. The property was well situated for visiting Lyme Regis, Charmouth and surrounding area and was a relaxing place to come back to after a day exploring. One last thing - mind your head if you're tall (which all the men in our party were) there are some very low door frames, and we had several banged heads!!

Hi Cindy. Many thanks for your feedback. I think what you experienced as dirt from the terracotta floor was actually you lifting off a layer of the hard wax coating. The tiles are wax sealed and washed with s recommended wax impregnated tiled floor cleaners each week and I expect this is what you were seeing as it contains a red/brown colouration. Any cleaning solvents or wet rubbing will tend to remove part of this treatment. Property Owner

  • "A beautiful barn conversion in a lovely village."

Very comfortable with a beautiful garden full of wildlife. Kitchen was very well equipped, the only thing we were missing at the house was cling film/kitchen foil and coffee. Usually they are left in houses when we stay. Everything else was perfect. We did have to check with the owner where the freezer was and we couldn't find it, but it's located in the Laundry room and accessed from the garden. There are lovely walks around the village and the otter pub was fabulous. We hope to return.

Looked beautiful in the photos online but even more amazing in real life. A stunning tranquil place to relax and enjoy the beautiful gardens. Could not fault a thing! A perfect place for a family catch up for all generations with plenty of space for everyone to eat together. The inside is very spacious too if the weather is less kind. Lots of interesting artefacts, books and games etc. I have never stayed anywhere that had a kitchen with everything you could ever need too. Could not recommend The Barn enough and did not want to leave!

  • "Wow, where do I start?"

We were a family of 8, the eldest 72 and the youngest 3 years. There is plenty of room inside and outside that you're not under each others toes. The Barn had everything we needed, the only thing missing, if you're taking toddlers, the bath is big, but there is no slip mat in the bath, so possibly take one with you, but that is the only thing I can think of that wasn't available, however, this had absolutely no impact on our break. We sat on a few evenings watching the bats emerge from the roof space above bedroom 4. They are amazing little creatures. We used the fire pit to toast marshmallows on a evening. We also used both the bbq and pizza oven. I like to run in the morning's and living in a very flat area, this made it slightly more difficult, being hilly, but well worth it with stunning views. The Otter Inn is very close by which we used and also Heron Farm. They have a lovely play area and the food in their cafe is so delicious. We all felt so relaxed and slept so well. The only downside is we didn't book long enough, we all wanted to stay on for another week.

The garden was well kept & haven for wildlife. Our grandchildren loved making pizzas & cooking them in the pizza oven . They also had a great time toasting marshmallows on the firepit. Lots to do in the area. Would highly recommend Donkey Sanctuary at Sidmouth. Within 5 mins walk of the property would recommend Heron Farm vineyard ( great restaurant ) & The Otter Inn. We visited many of the beaches on Jurassic coast all within 30 mins drive. Jonathan, the owner, provided us with lots of very useful information on the area. We had a great holiday & would recommend a stay at The Barn.

The open plan living/kitchen area was ideal. The barn had a great log burner and central heating making it cosy on wet cold days.. The bedrooms were spacious and bathrooms were great with ample hot water. The barn was dog friendly with tiled and wooden floors. Barn packed with amenities and nice touches plus an invaluable utility room. Welcome pack a really nice gesture. The owners were on hand to help if needed but no way intrusive, I needed their assistance to be directed to a reliable honest repair garage. Local pub two minutes walk, great local beers and nice food with excellent 2 for 1 offers. The local farm shop was brilliant with a great coffee shop. Would definitely stay again.

Very comfortably furnished and to a high spec. Some nice personal touches like the paintings and old photos made it much more homely than the average holiday let. Jonathon and his wife were on hand next door for questions too. Beautiful local walks and an excellent local pub for a Christmas drink completed the picture.
