  • "We had a wonderful time."

My youngest grand daughter spent hours in the garden playing ball sports. The garden is safe for both children and dogs.

Thanks for this lovely feedback. It is great to hear you enjoyed your stay. I am glad the children and dogs made the most of the garden! Property Owner

  • "A lovely house in a beautiful situation."

As connoisseurs of holiday accommodation (we are a group who have been having a yearly reunion for the last 12 years) this property absolutely hit the nail on the head. Friendly communication from the owners, everything as described, spacious, comfortable, spotless; we had a fabulous time. Strongly recommended for musical groups or families: Bluthner grand in the music room, other pianos and musical instruments dotted about, sheet music. Huge thank you to Lucy and family for making us so welcome.

Dear Orlando Thank you for this positive feedback. We are so pleased you enjoyed the piano and found the house comfortable. Thank you for choosing the Old Vicarage for your annual meet-up! Property Owner

  • "Fantastic holiday home, comfortable and very well equipped."

Lots of extras to help with larger groups, not all on display but in the cupboards. Great space for children to play, garden is great for dogs. Running routes are steep and challenging, great local ammenities for food. Have to go a bit further afield for circular walks, but thats the whole point of exploring Devon!

Dear Robert thank you for this lovely feedback. We are glad you enjoyed the house and garden and found lots of things to do. Running routes from the house are definitely a challenge! Lucy Property Owner

  • "This is a beautiful, spacious family home in a quiet location."

It is very well equipped from the kitchen to the indoor games and entertainment and to the outdoors. Stunning, large flat garden which kept our teenage kids outdoors most of the time. The house is close to shops and also has quick access to the popular tourist areas. The welcome pack was delicious too.

Dear Lana thank you for this wonderful feedback. We are so happy to hear you enjoyed the house and garden and found it a convenient place to stay. Lucy Property Owner

  • "An amazing place to stay, large comfortable rooms and beds."

Full of character and so much more than basic needs covered. Plenty of parking, a superb large garden for all ages and levels of activity with wonderful views. Ideal if you have a dog as it has a utility room and dog beds etc. In a great position as it is close to town but feels rural. Huge fridge, freezer and cooker which enabled us to have a great Sunday roast meal. We are looking for other reasons to have a large gathering so that we can return!

Thank you for your lovely comments. We are so glad you and the family enjoyed your stay and Sunday lunch together! Property Owner

  • "The Old Vicarage is a beautiful property, full of the owner's lovely things (including grand piano which we were allowed to play)."

Although it's so big it still felt homely and comfortable and even with ten of us fully occupying it there was always somewhere quiet to escape to! The gardens were also lovely, well-maintained by the charming and informative John the gardener. If you're looking for a holiday home for a large group or family we would thoroughly recommend it.

Dear David we are so pleased you enjoyed playing the piano, and found quiet places to enjoy. John loves to chat and is a fount of local knowledge! Thank you so much for this lovely feedback. Lucy Property Owner

  • "The old vicarage was a wonderful property."

We all enjoyed our stay. The house is spacious and comfortable. The beds were comfy. The bathrooms were spacious and showers were good. The kitchen was well equipped and I was easily able to cook a couple of meals. The only criticism is that the kitchen was not so clean. The splash back, work tops and grill was dirty & I needed to clean them before use. The bin drawer was very dirty so we used a bin liner attached to a drawer handle. This is first holiday cottage we have stayed in that didn’t have a hair dryer or bbq…. The garden was perfect for our dogs. The outdoor dining table and chairs meant we could have meals outside. It would have been lovely if there had been a couple of sun loungers to recline on ….

Thanks so much for your feedback. We are glad you snd your dogs enjoyed your stay. We can only apologise for the problems with the cleaning. We had to let that cleaning company go, and are delighted now that Helen and Taz leave the Old Vicarage clean and ready for our guests. We do have hairdryers now so thanks for recommending this to us. I am afraid we do not have a BBQ. Guests are welcome to use disposable ones if they wish. Property Owner

  • "What an extra special house to stay in."

Not only are you spoilt with so much space (huge bedrooms and multiple reception rooms) but the gardens and views are just gorgeous too. We were a family of six adults, two under 2s and two dogs and you could still find a quiet spot to hide yourself away. We had a blast. Tiverton is an easy stroll away to explore, not that you need to as the house and garden is so great to spend time in. Getting in was super easy and everything had clearly just been beautifully cleaned - and the little welcome basket and note was a lovely touch. The owners were a real pleasure to deal with too. Highly recommend this beautiful house.

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. We are glad you had such a good stay and do hope you might like to visit again one day. Property Owner

The house had so much character and history but also all modern comforts. The rooms are huge with lovely views and plenty of areas to enjoy some peace and quiet! There are some great walks from the house, but also plenty to keep you occupied in the house and lovely garden! Communication with Lucy was excellent from the start! We definitely hope to return some time!

  • "This is a beautiful, very large house with a lovely enclosed garden and an amazing view over Tiverton and the hills."

The rooms are all very generous in size and there is a lovely atmosphere to the whole place, not least because of the grand piano (which is a joy to play), two upright pianos, and organ pipes on the dining room wall! Thoroughly recommended.

We are so delighted you were able to enjoy playing the grand piano and the lovely atmosphere of the Old Vicarage. The views from several of the rooms fill me with joy so we are glad you liked them too! Property Owner

The Old Vicarage has been designed to offer a base for groups of couples, friends and families to come together to celebrate a special occasion or to use a base to explore the wonder of Devon’s countryside.

Enter into the spacious hallway, store your coats and shoes before you go onto discover the social rooms, each boasting traditional furnishings and retaining many of its original period features.

In addition to a Welcome Pack for guests, there is also dog welcome pack as well, and the utility room is ideal for cleaning up muddy dogs and wellingtons!

Enjoy relaxing evenings within the sitting room, where you can snuggle up in front of the open fire or sit in the large bay window and while away a few hours playing a selection of games.

For a slightly livelier evening, head into the music room and play a tune or two, or if peace is what you are seeking, make your way into the snug for a sense of tranquillity.

After a busy day enjoying the area, the house and the garden, make your way up the staircase to find five bedrooms.

About the location

TIVERTON

Crediton 12 miles; Exeter 14 miles; Taunton 21 miles.

The largest town in Mid Devon, visit Tiverton for echoes of the past including a romantic castle, and horse-drawn barge trips on the idyllic Grand Western Canal. Occupying a strategic position on two rivers, the Exe and the Lowman, brought Tiverton wealth as a flourishing textile town, resulting in many fine buildings. These include the Jacobean Great House of St. George, three medieval almshouses, and the fantastic parish church of St. Peter with its remarkable frieze of merchant vessels with billowing sails. Another famous building is Old Blundells, immortalised by former pupil R.D. Blackmore in his classic Lorna Doone. However, the town's most famous building is beautiful Tiverton Castle, a royal fortress commissioned in 1106 by Henry I. Find out more about Tiverton's rich heritage at award-winning Tiverton Museum of Mid Devon Life, with 14 galleries of exhibits including the Tivvy Bumper GWR locomotive.
