  • "Lovely house,so big."

Well furnished with everything needed. Great AGA in kitchen, takes a bit of a time to get to temperature but no problems. Only observation would be nice to have thermostat/timer for heating so could have on/off times to suit us.eg Off in daytime when we're out ,adjust temp up if needed, would not put us off visiting again.

  • "Property was nicely furnished."

The beds and sofa were very comfortable. We did have a few problems but the maintenance person came and fixed them but this took a few days. The biggest problem we had was getting used to cooking with an 'Aga'. You had to remember that it took about 45 minutes to come up to the required heat, so you had to plan this in when preparing meals.

  • "Brilliant place, found easily and very comfortable."

Beds made and we liked the Welcome Pack. Our only issue was with the detailed instructions kindly left by the owners. The house felt chilly especially upstairs, and we looked through the instructions to up the temperature. The radiators were unresponsive and we couldn’t raise the temperature in the kitchen. We looked everywhere for the thermostat, without success (we found it when we were leaving!). We phoned the helpline line which was closed and didn’t feel it warranted an emergency call, so we went next door and Lee looked but couldn’t find the thermostat either. He phoned the owner who hadn’t realised there were tenants this week, and promptly activated the heater using his phone. The house then became warm and was perfect for the stay. The gardens are beautiful too.

  • "A large, clean, comfortable house in a really lovely & quiet location - yet within walking distance of the shops & beach - ideal for a group of friends or families."

Three large bedrooms: 2 double bedded & 1 twin bedded, a bathroom & shower room & a downstairs toilet. The kitchen is huge & very well equipped with plenty of cupboard space to store your own dry goods. But it's the garden that made it for my sister, my friend & me. We were incredibly lucky to have nice weather & could sit outside each morning & eat our breakfast. I hope to return sometime in the future

Delighted you, your sister and friend enjoyed the garden - we’ll let our gardener know how much you appreciated his hard work. You are very welcome to return and thank you for your kind comments. Lorri & David Property Owner

  • "We enjoyed the holiday very much."

The house was spacious, light, and in an excellent location. The kitchen was very well appointed and had everythig needed for a cooking fest, should you chose this! Both double beds were very comfortable. Sadly there were a few things that let the house down. The first was the fact that many of the windows did not close fully, leading to drafts - particularly in the lounge, which made it uncomfortable to relax at times. The second was the heating system which seemed to come on at random times, and we did not seem to be able to put the radiators on in the lounge other than very early in the evening. The bath needed a good clean before use, and we were very glad to find cleaning products in the kitchen.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that you experienced a chill in the lounge. The heating system is set at a constant so it will come on at "random times" ; this is to maintain a comforably temperature so guests shouldn't need to "put the radiators on". There is a real effect gas fire in the lounge so you can experience a cosy night in if it's particularly cold. We have picked up the bath issue with Lyme Bay and sorry that this one off incident occured during your stay. Our feedback has consistently demonstrated a lovely clean home. Cleaning products are always made available to guests so that should you need to clean during your stay, this is possible. However, in our guests expeirence to date, this has never been required. • "Really clean and spacious family home, great provision of DVDs and games for the rainy days."

Short downhill walk to the park and beach. Beds were so comfortable and the apples in the garden were a real treat. With 3 hungry boys we did struggle to get to grips with the speed of the Aga so the owners guide to places to eat in and around Seaton was invaluable!

We are so happy you had a lovely stay and enjoyed our home from home. The fruit crop has been a good one this year and very pleased you enjoyed the pickings. Property Owner

  • "A lovely light and roomy house with a mature well kept garden."

We felt at home straightaway and enjoyed our time here cooking, eating and relaxing. The apple and blackberry and rhubarb crumbles from the fallers were an unexpected delight. The AGA managed us! The position in a quiet lane allowed us to be away from the hustle and bustle but was an easy walk to the sea. A fantastic holiday base.

So pleased you enjoyed Penylan and the garden - the location really is great; quiet but close enough to town and the beach so that you can easily walk to both. Delighted you were able to use the produce from the garden - nothing like home made crumble. Glad you made friends with the Aga - she is a member of the family ;-) There should be plenty of apples rhubarb and blackberries for another couple of weeks - future guests - please use them and take some apples home!
