  • "A very well equipped cottage with everything you need."

In fact we took some kitchen stuff with us which we could have left at home. The Barn bathroom needs were fully provided for, with hand soaps, bubble bath and shower gel and lovely big fluffy towels. The bed was really comfy as well. So all in all we have a very nice stay at the barn.

The Barn is amazing and the views are beautiful. Vanessa is very friendly as are her daughters. We even received a welcome Hamper when we arrived which we didn't expect. The upside down layout works perfectly in order to enjoy the views and the rooms are very spacious. There is a local pub 10 to 15mins walk and a 20 to 30min walk into Chudleigh. Highly recommended.

  • "The Barn is a lovely and the best equipped cottage we have ever stay in."

The owners, who live on site in the old Farm House are very friendly and very helpful! You will need however, a satnav, or a very good large scale map to negotiate the single track lanes (with no signposts) to get from The Barn to the main A380 to visit the Torbay area and beyond, before you get familiar with the route out! Otherwise the location is a great base to view the sights of Devon and Dartmoor.

  • "Vanessa, the host was very welcoming."

The hamper was a nice surprise and so was the delicious homemade cake! The Barn was very well equipped and very roomy. The beds were extremely comfortable. It is down several narrow country lanes and if you are walking there are several fairly steep hills around. This is fine if you are young and fit but a bit hard if you are that bit older! Over all a lovely place to stay for a short break.

  • "What a lovely barn in a beautiful setting!"

We were made to feel very welcome by the owner Vanessa when we arrived and really appreciated the hamper of goodies we found in the kitchen (wine, crisps, cake, coffee and tea) and the large vase of fresh flowers. There was also milk in the fridge so we could have a cuppa after our journey. The Barn was very spacious, clean and comfortable and our 5 year old couldn't get over the 'upside down' layout with the kitchen and lounge upstairs! This totally makes sense when you see the views from the front of the house! There was everything you could need in The Barn with a well equipped kitchen (including dishwasher, washing machine and tumble drier), books/DVDs for adults and children, some toys for toddler ager kids and shower gel/soap in each bathroom. There are a number of lovely walks directly from the property and you are so close great areas to explore in Devon, coastal and in the Moor. We had a lovely time at The Barn which was topped off with an Easter egg for our little boy!! A highly recommended place to stay.

The Cottage was beautiful, really comfortable and cosy, proving to be the perfect base for a great holiday. Vanessa and Malcolm were the perfect hosts, with the welcome hamper, especially the blueberry cake, proving very welcome. We loved the house and location - with practical distances to Exeter, Plymouth and Dartmoor as well as Chudleigh conveniences. Our hosts unexpectedly decorated the house with tree and tasteful festive decorations and made every effort to ensure we enjoyed our stay without intruding. On Christmas Eve our 4 year old turned to her three year old sister and said “isn’t life magical?”, “yes it is magic” she replied. Would recommend the barn and helpful holidays to anyone.

1½ miles from Chudleigh, in the tiny hamlet of Kerswell is The Barn, a smart and spacious cottage.

The ‘upside down’ layout here makes the most of superb long views over miles of beautiful rolling countryside.

Inside is equally impressive, a stylish contemporary decor with limestone-tiled floors and beams to the apex help to create a very special place to stay.

On the first floor, the living area with a wood burning stove is huge, big comfy sofas are positioned to take full advantage of those far-reaching views.

A bright kitchen and dining area is the perfect place to sit and plan or recount your days' adventures.

On the ground floor are two generous bedrooms, a king-size double with an en suite bathroom, and a family room with a king-size double and twin beds, en suite bathroom and glazed doors to front courtyard.

At the front, a big gravelled courtyard has a table and chairs and is occasionally used by the owner to access their adjoining home.

You have your own enclosed outdoor space with tables/chairs and barbecue to the rear.

The little town of Chudleigh has a friendly atmosphere, and is well placed for exploring moor or sea with good sandy beaches at Dawlish Warren and Teignmouth.

The historic, cathedral city of Exeter is an easy drive away, here you'll find plenty of shops, good places to eat and lots to see and do.

The Barn is a beautiful home in a peaceful, rural spot, yet with excellent access to city, coast and moors.
