  • "We had a very nice stay at Jarrah and managed to get to most of the places we wanted to, including cycling the Tarka trail, despite the mixed weather."

The house was beautifully clean, the beds very comfortable and the kitchen nice to use. Our only quibble is that the description of the property did not make clear that the car park was quite a hike from the cottage along a restricted path, which for pensioners like us is an important consideration. Perhaps it would be an idea to mention that the property might not be ideal for those with mobility issues. Having said that, Donna was a helpful and considerate hostess, providing us with a milk jug for our afternoon tea and a tray to carry things on, when we asked. She and her husband also very kindly helped us with our luggage on arrival. I would certainly recommend the property - but probably with the caveat for those with mobility issues.

Donna and Russ were very welcolming whilst also unobtrusive. The only observation we have (it wasn't an issue for the two of us) is that there was no freezer, a family staying may find this a little inconvenient.

Donna and Russ are amazing hosts, very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. There was lots of thoughtful touches such as the yummy cream tea on arrival and the swing ball that was available for my son to use. We had a fantastic holiday, very much needed after all the restrictions of the past year. A perfect cottage in a perfect location! Thank you.

Plenty of room for the 2 of us. Donna, the owner was on hand to help us settle in and available for any queries but she was not intrusive. Although next to the owners home, we were not overlooked. Jarrah has lovely private gardens and feels light and spacious. Jarrah is in a good position to explore North Devon and Exmoor.

  • "Lovely cottage in beautiful area, very warm, friendly host who was on hand if needed but not intrusive."

Cottage was warm and cosy with woods to walk in with a stream flowing through. Unfortunately we didn't see any deer but it was a nice chilled out walk. The cottage was like home from home with all the things we needed to make meals which we enjoyed sat in the conservatory. We were very lucky as the weather was amazing and we sat for a short while in the chairs overlooking the field next to the house in the mornings before going out, this was nice to watch the two horses roaming back and forwards. Definitely worth a stay, the clear dark sky at night was full of stars . Jarrah is a excellent base for exploring the area, we recommend Woolacombe beach, Arlington Hall(national trust) Instow & Appledore and a lovely drive to Minehead and Dunster(lovely buildings and feel)

  • "Jarrah is a beautiful holiday home."

Donna the host goes above and beyond to make sure you have a wonderful stay, from offering to help with bags to a welcome basket. I highly suggest you read the black folder of info Donna has made as it has some good ideas inside. The bedrooms are spacious and comfy and I'm missing the bath already. Car parking is ample and yes it can be tricky pulling out due to the small uphill you will have this trouble everywhere in north Devon and it's not a major issue at all. The garden is beautiful and my children had hours of fun playing in the garden in the evening. The woods next to the cottage is a nice walk , there is also a bench by the stream to sit on. We went to woolacombe beach and parked beachfront which is £8 for a full day . The beach is beautiful very clean. Ilfracombe has good boat rides. Combed Martin is good for kayak lessons. Dartington crystal is good for a rainy day. Down the road the local pub is friendly and inviting. I would recommend Jarrah to everyone only wish I could give more than 10 stars.

We felt like it was a home from home. Clean, neat and tidy with everything you need including a charcoal BBQ dvds/games/swingball and more for our boys. Ponys in the paddock next to the garden, the lovely 'secret garden' and a walk and a stream on the doorstep. Only 10 mins from various towns, beaches etc. Thanks to Donna and her family. We loved it!

  • "A very very comfortable cottage and very well heated, a much needed facility during our sometimes wet and cold English summers !"

Everything was immaculately clean. There was everything we could possibly have needed to make us feel at home. The large light and airy conservatory was where we spent most of our time when indoors, it was always lovely to sit there overlooking the woodland at the back of the house and the meadow with the horses. The only negative point and there is only one, is that in the description of the cottage it is stated as being peaceful and tranquil, while it was peaceful indoors, outdoors the property sits on the very busy main road from Barnstaple to Illfracombe so even had the weather been glorious and we'd been able to sit outside during our stay the constant traffic would have made it very noisy. All in all a great holiday home.

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry that you found the road busy ( which is a 30mph B road) but I am sure you can appreciate that North Devon is a very popular holiday destination at this time of year. I am in my third season and have never had anyone complain of constant traffic noise. Thank you. Property Owner

Fantastic gardens to enjoy. Central for all the best beaches and plenty of nice walks and places to eat . Only downside was pulling out onto a very busy road on an almost blind bend . Could do with some mirrors to assist you. Otherwise perfect !

Thank you for your kind feedback. I am sorry that you found the road to be an issue. This is a 30mph B road so is not too fast but may have been busier during your stay due to the half term. We do provide additional parking now for a further 2 cars so you do not have to try and reverse into the drive. I am glad you enjoyed your stay otherwise in this beautiful location. Property Owner
