  • "This is a really lovely cottage in a good location."

All the furniture is stylish and comfortable and the kitchen amenities are very good, such as the induction hob and fridge with in-built ice-maker. We would stay here again, certainly. Our only negative feedback is that the check-in/out times are quite arduous, especially if you have young children. 6pm Friday check-in basically condemns you to hell on the M5 and a loss of infant bedtime routine; 9am check-out coupled with a fair bit of cleaning responsibilities (stripping beds, emptying bins etc) is also pretty unkind. We understand that the owners do some cleaning themselves, and that Covid has increased cleaning standards, but surely this could be made friendlier for guests, even if it meant paying a little more.

We are sorry that you were not satisfied with the check-in times.. We have reset check in times to pre- covid times of 5pm and 10 am. There are 3 x holiday cottages here at Cowslip.life -two of which offer minimum 3 night stays and during Peak season we need to hire help with changeovers. Local cleaning agencies work to tight schedules - ours are only available from 9:30am on Fridays as this is the busiest changeover day of their week . They have contingencies in their contract for holiday cottages to have guests bag their bedlinen + remove bin waste. This is also in place outside of pandemic times to keep cleaners safe in their work. The pandemic saw many adaptations for many businesses. The holiday letting business was no exception and the specifications asked of hosts meant lots of additional planning and setting of new specifications in place- the basic theme being to keep all involved -safe! Our printed 'welcome' booklets are designed with much care & thought. We feel they explain our commitment to providing a safe holiday in a kind and friendly manner- with local recommendations + good intent.! We hope this re-assures any future guests looking to book a stay in Cowslip Cottage. Property Owner

  • "Amazing property."

Lovely village location with great access to this stunning North Devon coast. Beautifully renovated with lots of spacious light and airy living space, good attention to detail with some lovely thoughtful touches. We were very comfortable here though struggled a bit with the sofas.......it is so difficult to get the right look without compromising the comfort! All in all a lovely place to stay and beautifully maintained, we would definitely return.

Dear Vicki, Thanks so much for your kind review- just to let you know we have since bought a new, bigger and much comfier sofa to replace the smaller sofa (the uncomfy culprit!). You were great guests- thanks so much for your helpful feedback. Property Owner

  • "Good location."

Very clean and attractive property. Light and airy with excellent parking space. Outdoor area compact but very well organised and practical. Sufficient space for 2 young children. Facilities in kitchen good but would be helpful to have more crockery and cutlery especially as there is a dishwasher. Also one of the settees not very comfy. All in all though a lovely house and owners were on hand and friendly.

Dear Mary , Thanks for your review on your stay at cowslip cottage. We have taken your comments into consideration and have since added more crockery and cutlery and a new very comfy sofa will now land in the cottage next month! We hope to see you again at cowslip cottage, Kind regards, Katy & Bruce Property Owner
