  • "To paraphrase Pop Larkin - just "perfick"."

Everything was just perfect and probably one of the best holidays as a family we have ever had! The property was bigger than expected and very well equipped. Excellent location for peace and quiet. Local pub and community shop only a 15 minute walk. Lyme Regis, Seaton and Branscombe all within a 30 minute drive. The hosts, Terry & Karen were fabulous and very helpful. Can't wait to visit again!!

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Little Evanses cottage and would definitely return."

It is one of the best equipped holiday cottages we have stayed in and we appreciated the small touches that made our stay even more enjoyable such as the filled ice trays on arrival on a hot day, the bird feeding stations that were kept topped up and the welcome gift. The cottage is nestled in a beautiful area and the deck with comfortable chairs was amazing to use during the warm weather. Dalwood village is only a short walk away through stunning countryside, with a pub and community store. Would highly recommend.

  • "The property was in a lovely if what seemed to us initially, remote setting."

We did get used to the distance to travel anywhere, though. Really nice, relaxed atmosphere and beautiful views, although we opened up the curtains to a howling gale on the first morning. Only niggle was although the showeroome was beautifully decorated, and had a heated towel rail, it did feel cold emerging from the shower. Same for the bath/bathroom upstairs : also ran out of hot water at below hip level. As the floors were tiled it would make sense to have non-slip rubber backed bath mats for safety: facilities otherwise first class. Owner v responsive to requests. Bird feeders and display of variety of birds viewed from kitchen made a good start to the day, so close to nature. Would visit again but choosing warmer, drier months. Could drive right up to the property to overcome steepness of drive for 80+ senior member of our party, but assistance still required. Too cold/windy to venture onto balcony terrace, which was a shame, as I could imagine chilling with a glass of wine to watch the sun go down. Recommend.

  • "Although we read all the positive reviews before booking, and knew we would not be disappointed, 'Little Evenses' still exceeded expectations."

I stayed with my partner and mum for Christmas and the whole experience was magical. From arriving at dusk, driving through the lights at the entrance to the village, to the beautiful tree in the property and thoughtful gifts of wine and chocolates left by the owners, Terry & Karen. As many other reviews have said, to be able to sit every morning, in the kitchen watching the birds, was blissful. We counted 15 species including 3 Greater spotted woodpecker and a squirrel that managed to outwit the baffle on the feeder! Terry & Karen were the perfect hosts, on hand should we need anything, but considering their own 'Evenses' is across the courtyard we barely saw them, and never felt as though we were intruding, or intruded upon. We couldn't have faulted it at all, it was absolutely perfect and would love to return one day. Some other reviews have mentioned the 'very steep' driveway, I imagine if you are unused to narrow country lanes then it could appear unnerving but don't be put off, it isn't that steep and 'Little Evenses' is worth it.

Inside was beautifully decorated and comfortable, outside on the terrace was fabulous and the views across the countryside were stunning. All we could hear were sheep, geese, the 'girls' and the birds all around us. So peaceful and relaxing, giving us a much needed break. Thank you Terry and Karen for being such friendly and thoughtful hosts, the wine, eggs and chocolates were a lovely touch. The Tuckers Arms well worth a visit, had a really enjoyable lunch there. We will be recommending Little Evanses to our friends and would love to return for another visit. Thank you both.

The interior design and fittings are excellent quality and very tasteful, together with a most wonderful decking area which has far reaching views across the valley and beyond. What we particularly liked about the property was the generous amount of chinaware, cutlery and glasses, plus a large barbecue, to entertain a crowd, ( we had 10 round one evening) in spite of accommodation only for 4 people. The hosts, Karen and Terry, live opposite and are there for any questions or just for a friendly chat. A charming couple who made us feel so welcome.

  • "We love Little Evanses."

Karen and Terry do a great job maintaining the property and getting it ready for turn around day. The only thing that would be useful is a thermostat valve on the upstairs bathroom radiator. It gets extremely hot in there as there is no method of turning the radiator down or off. We open the skylight to cool the room down which seems daft letting all that heat out.

Thank you for your feedback and we are delighted to hear that you love Little Evanses. The reason we are unable to fit a thermostat on the bathroom radiator upstairs is because it is a 'heat sink' radiator, Thermostatic radiator valves are automatic so they will shut down on their own. If they all shut down and you don't have a bypass, then the boiler has nowhere to get rid of it's heat. So you need to have a heat sink radiator that has just lockshields on it and that will allow the boiler to circulate hot water through that radiator and get rid of the heat. We have had the heat sink radiator located in the bathroom because you are most likely to leave a bathroom radiator on all the time to dry off your wet towels. So it makes sense to have one there. • "This holiday home was beautiful, set in a rural location, we had hens visit us daily to be fed from the pot of food the owners Terry and Karen left in our holiday home."

We had everything in the home we needed, and I mean absolutely everything. There was the owners cat who popped by too and we had sheep grazing right near our outside decking too. You felt like you truly was on holiday away from the hustle and bustle of everything. The only point I would say but not a negative is that to get to the home there are a lot of single lane roads , so driving through to get to the main road was a cautious drive but it was worth it. If you truly want to get away from it all Evans’s is the place to book. Will definitely go back again .
