  • "We had a fantastic time and were really lucky to have picked Regatta week which we didn't know about."

Would definitely stay here again. If I had to be picky (and it is being REALLY picky!) 1 starter loo roll would be good. I always pack them anyway but after a 6 hour drive through the night with 2 kids, anybody else may have been caught out. Just an observation, cannot fault this place, would highly recommend although that hill is not wheelchair friendly

  • "On arrival we discovered stained bedding, mold growing on shower heads in both bath rooms, and a dirty roasting tin."

Furthermore we discovered the property as being described as having glimpses of the river dart from the rear - this is impossible. Worse the complaint was not taken seriously as I had to ring again 24 hours later. The call handler demanded to know ‘what I wanted’ - hardly the way to treat any customer let alone a complaint. I was then given some utter rubbish about the previous complaint having been sent to the wrong office, so had I not called again nothing would have happened- patently this was Sykes’ intention.

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry to hear that on your arrival the property was not up to our normal high standards. I apologise that you feel that your initial call was not taken seriously, we believe that there had been some miscommunication through the system and this is being looked at to ensure it won’t happen again, however as soon as the Dartmouth Coast and Country Office had been made aware, action was taken to rectify all the points you raised. • "You know when you see holiday cottages online and wonder whether they are too good to be true?"

Well I’m happy to report 11 Ridge Hill is exactly as advertised, if not better! We stayed for a week with our 11 month old and couldn’t believe how baby friendly it was. We were so impressed with the layout - such a clever use of space. Also top marks for cooking utensils/equipment - so helpful, especially when cooking for a baby. The location is excellent - nice and quiet but really close to town (basically in town). 2 tiny disappointments - Parking. It’s a long time since I’ve been to Dartmouth so underestimated the parking issue. There is no where to park for more than 4 hours in town. The park and ride is good, just sometimes a slight hassle with a baby. This isn’t really fault of the house, just wish I had known! Hand soap. I know. Ridiculous really. But we found the little bag of kitchen supplies so helpful (bin bags, dishwasher tablets and washing machine detergent). I just really would have liked some nice hand soap (or even a bar of soap) in the bathrooms. Overall. We can’t believe our luck in finding 11 Ridge Hill. It served the perfect base for exploring the area and provided such a comfortable and relaxing stay!

  • "Lovely well equipped flat in a great location with large rooms and amazing views over the park and river Dart."

From here you can see boats, the steam train, and a ferry so perfect for our little ones! We were given the wrong information with regards to parking in the main car park when we phoned prior to booking, but we were able to find a free space up the road.

  • "A lovely appartment which was well equipped with nice furniture and kitchen utensils."

The cooker was excellent and everything you could ever need in the kitchen. The only dwon side was the access to the building which is on a very narrow street, on a hill and nowhere to unload, other than blocking the road. Cars then back up behind you. Lovely patio are out of the back. Will definately come back if wanting to stay in Dartmouth again

  • "Lovely flat, very quiet, view of river from main bedroom and 5 mins to boat float in town (bit of a steep climb to front door so beware if difficulty walking)."

The description was accurate, beds very comfy, large cooker and well equipped (we stayed a fortnight so ate in alot). One area for improvement, which applies to lots of holiday lets, is recycling - I think people staying would be happy to take papers to car park but please provide facilities for bottles, cans and food waste.

And the smoke alarms are deafening and are very sensitive to even normal cooking fumes.

Just a couple of minutes to the river, 5 mins to car park and town. No need to keep getting in the car as there is so much to do in the Dartmouth area. Lovely coastal walks, steam train rides and ferry cruises all on the dart and close by.
