  • "This is the seventh time we have stayed in 21 Dart Marina."

Perhaps you can tell, we rather like it! There is a slight problem with the parking space. In previous years there hasn't been a car in the adjacent space but this time it was more difficult getting in alongside the wall as there was a large car in the next bay.

  • "The apartment at 21 Dart Marina was amazing and far exceeded our expectations as the photos online didn’t do it justice."

It is modern , spacious and immaculate throughout, the views from the lounge windows were beautiful and even better were the bifolding windows that fully opened . The kitchen was fully equipped providing us with everything for our stay. We will highly recommend the apartment to future guests.

  • "The car parking space 47 allocated for this property is compromised in size by the containment walls, the adjacent vehicle and limits the size of vehicle that can use it."

During our stay the adjacent space was occupied by a crew cab 4x4 which meant that even if you could get a vehicle into the space you could not get out of it! It was quite obvious during our stay that all the ‘resident visitor’ spaces were being used by people with a similar problem. In an area like Dartmouth where car parking space is at a premium a prestigious development such as this should provide suitable parking. When we have visited other properties in areas like Fowey or Falmouth where car parking is in restricted spaces or there are some limitations this has been included in the property details so at least as a visitor you can make a choice. Whoever decided to frame the parking area in such a development in 12” rendered brick walls should take a look at the vehicles people who own, visit or rent these properties use together with the ever increasing size of vehicle that safety legislation warrants manufacturers to meet.. I counted 2 Bentleys and a dozen large SUVs as well as more modest vehicles such as our medium sized SUV and cars and the carpark was only half occupied but with allocated spaces it is obviously not correct to park in any space that is vacant. We had advised that we would be unable to arrive early enough to collect the key from your Company office so as per instructions we communicated this and we’re advised of a code for the key safe. On arrival after a considerably difficult journey we were disappointed to find no keysafe was evident at the property. We called the emergency mobile number and got an answer phone, so we called again on another mobile which did elicit a response which advised the key safe was at your office not the property, so from our late arrival we were delayed by another 45 minutes driving to the office locating the key safe sorting the keys from 15 others that were in box there and returning to the property. This was brought to your offices attention the following day when we visited to advise of the parking problem. The reply was that head office in Cheshire should have given us the full key safe instructions. The car parking problem was only resolved because I had been fortunate enough to find a vacant visitor space on our return from the key retrieval! I did not move the vehicle throughout our visit because of the inconvenience of losing it! The property instructions advised that the ANPR in operation for the hotel and apartments car park warranted a visitor to register your registration to a mobile number which we did and recorded our registration as asked. When we visited the office we were advised it was only used during regatta week and was not working, just another small gripe, something extra we needn’t have concerned ourselves with late on the night of arrival.

  • "Such an amazing apartment with stunning views."

Once again a lovely memorable stay. The only observations for improvements would be net curtains in the bedrooms so you can get dressed without having to pull the curtains; plastic spatula to use on the very good non-stick frying pan (a pleasant surprise as I normally bring my own along from experience); hooks on backs of doors and in the bathroom; full clarity on the car parking as we were concerned about the ANPR cameras at the entrance of the marina and clarified with the hotel that we should have been asked for our Reg No when picking up keys; another set of keys would be useful; the shower in the en-suite was very low pressure. All pretty minor points on an otherwise lovely apartment.

  • "No real issues with the property which was clean and well presented."

However we felt C&CC made minimal effort to enhance our stay. No spare bin bags! How do you expect guests to to take out the rubbish. No welcome pack, not even a pint of milk. We have since stayed at a Sykes property, and I believe you are part of the same group, where we were given bottles of of wine, truffles, milk and plenty of household supplies for our stay. I think C&CC need to up their game or perhaps you don't feel you need to given that Dartmouth is such a lovely location. Another issue, beyond your control, which spoiled our stay was people smoking on the ground floor in the properties below and adjacent.

    21. The window in the living area is amazing and we loved opening it completely and enjoying the view! Just a couple of small points. The kitchen is very well kitted out but it would have been handy to have some kitchen roll and more than one dishwasher tablet. In the notes we were advised to take t-towels and oven gloves. They were both provided. The information in the customer folder was out of date.

  • "This was a great break at a very well appointed and spacious apartment, with superb views over the river Dart."

The folding windows are a fantastic facility. The kitchen, in particular, had all of the equipment that you could wish for and plenty of it. The only slight niggle was the quality of the towels and pillows. However, this issue was greatly outweighed by the positives, and we had a wonderful stay! Great location also.

  • "Great location, lovely apartment, however we found it to be very warm in the evening, no air-conditioning or even the offer of fans."

The main bathroom didn't seem to have any extraction and became very warm and steamy after using. On a lesser point it would have been nice on arriving to have some soap in the bathrooms and maybe a basic welcome pack bread, milk, butter etc. at this price we would expect this to be the norm.

Many thanks for your feedback regarding 21 Dart Marina. We apologise that you found the apartment to be warm and we will pass on the comments regarding fans for the property. Unfortunately a majority of our properties choose not to leave welcome accessories based on potential allergies however we apologise that this did not meet your expectations. We hope that you did enjoy your stay in Dartmouth and we hope to welcome you back again. Property Owner

  • "The apartment is in a great location, is really spacious with good parking."

We had a number of issues however, the tv was poor and BT vision was hard to use and nowhere near as good as Sky. Apartment is poorly laid out, failure to have armchairs placed to enjoy the view is inexplicable, dining chairs were too uncomfortable to sit on for long and when sitting on the sofa the dining table and chairs hid the view. We were using both bedrooms as doubles but there was only one summer weight quilt so one couple had to use 2 single quilts as the only other double quilt was too warm. Both bedrooms were very overlooked and needed either blinds or net curtains to maintain privacy.

  • "Thank you, we had a lovely break and the apartment was ideally situated."

However there are a couple of recommendations I feel would help maintain the 5* rating and price. Minor things to note - There was no salt and pepper in the grinders - It would have been nice to have a pint of milk in the fridge - The only bottle of cleaner was empty There was also no iron or ironing board. We have stayed in a number of beautiful apartments in the West country and these little touches have been available in all of them. I feel at the price charged (£4,000) a week in high season ,this is what most people would expect.

Thank you for your comments. We are really happy to hear that you had an enjoyable holiday at 21 Dart Marina. There is an Iron and an Ironing board provided and stored in the cupboard in the entrance hall. All of our properties are listed as self-catering and unfortunately milk and other condiments are not provided. Property Owner

  • "We are disappointed with the changes since Sykes took over."

Coast & Country had a much more personal approach, and seemed to appreciate customer loyalty. (We have made 13 bookings with you in the past 8 years). We can no longer enjoy a welcome bottle of wine or fudge, and the loyalty discount has been removed. It therefore seems unlikely that we will rebook in 2019, when we have other companies to choose from. Regarding 21 Dart Marina, the sofa has never been especially comfortable, and the bathroom underfloor heating is ineffective.

About the location

DARTMOUTH

Totnes 12 miles.

Dartmouth lies on the banks of the beautiful River Dart estuary in the popular and picturesque South Hams area of South Devon. Located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the coast, Dartmouth is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Devon. It offers a stunning waterfront, ancient narrow streets lined with boutique shops, restaurants and art galleries plus many local events such as the annual Dart Music Festival and the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta, along with the Dartmouth Food Festival held every October. There are many interesting cycling and walking routes around Dartmouth, including the South West Coast Path, the Dart Valley Trail and plenty of quiet country lanes. A trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway through picturesque countryside to Paignton is a must, and so is a boat trip across to Kingswear and on to Brixham, a pretty little harbour town. For those seeking some beach activities, there is a wide choice in the South Hams area such as Blue Flag Award winner Blackpool Sands, and Slapton Sands, both extremely popular and just a stone's throw from Dartmouth. A relaxing location in South Devon.
