  • "A lovely property."

Really enjoyed our week there. Comfortable and well kitted out. 2 very small things - I think the very steep stone steps down to the bedroom should be pointed out as definitely not suitable for anyone with even a slight mobility problem. I was also surprised that the fridge did not even have a small freezer compartment. Ice cubes for drinks in the summer?? But otherwise a great property.

Thankyou so much for your lovely feedback we really appreciate it. There is a freezer and a washer/ dryer in the garden utility we are really sorry it wasn’t pointed out properly however we have emailed C and C to put a sign on the fridge for future guests Kind regards Sue and Steve Property Owner

  • "We arrived late Friday to find the heating off and no wifi as the owner hadn’t t paid the bill."

Saturday was spent trying to resolve these issues before the office closed on Saturday night. The office staff are very good with one lady staying late to get our problems sorted out. We also had a handy man call by to reset the heating. Not the best start to our stay and took up a good part of our first full day away to resolve.

We were very surprised and upset on the Saturday afternoon to learn that the Wi-Fi wasn’t working and for that we can only apologies. We contacted BT immediately to rectify the situation. Unfortunately this was out of our control as it was a BT error and we have forwarded an email from BT to Coast and Country to confirm. With regards to the heating we have spoken to Coast and Country who have assured us that the guests who checked out on the Friday didn’t report any issues; so again we can only apologise We hope that once the issues were sorted that you enjoyed the fabulous views from the apartment and all that Dartmouth has to offer Kind regards Sue and Steve Property Owner

  • "26 Above Town is a characterful property but the marketing of the property is pure chicanery."

When booking I searched for a property with parking. The very first bullet that comes up on the search states the property has “ off road parking”. In fact the parking is a 15 minute walk away in a municipal car park where there is no allocated space and on the first evening we waited 45 minutes for a space to become free as Dartmouth is a traffic nightmare. The road to the property is so narrow - up a 1/3 hill - that the only way to unload the car and drop off bags is to block the road and make other drivers wait. This situation was exacerbated by the fact there is no clear signage to the property so we had to block the road and run up and down to find the property. When you have taken the car away to park, the route back involves either the walk up the 1/3 hill or 60+ steps known locally as the “cardiac stairs” given how steep they are. When I raised the parking issue with the agents on arrival - explaining that my husband suffered with asthma and asked if we could be given any alternative accommodation, I was told no. It was pointed out to me that the details did include a note about the parking difficulties and steep climb to the property so in essence it was my own fault. However I know what marketing trickery looks like and this was it! At the very, very bottom of the details, after endless bilge about drinking romantic cocktails on the patio etc…….yes there it was in tiny print, in the very last dozen words in about font size 2!! This borders on a breach of Trades description in my view. When you search for a property with parking, this property should NOT COME UP as there is clearly NO parking at the property. A few other pointers for prospective guests, the lack of curtains raised by a previous guest has still not been dealt with and the walls are painted white with one solitary picture and virtually no colour so in the torrential storm and rain that blew during our visit, it didn’t feel very cosy. Signage to the property needs to be improved as above - there basically isn’t any and what might work in the Summer doesn’t work when you are arriving on a dark Autumn evening. Lastly, the kitchen is not that well stocked and the property would benefit from a welcome pack specific to the property as opposed to the general guide to the area left by the agents. The letting/managing agents were Coast and Country properties and clearly decided I was a “difficult customer” despite the fact I have booked many holiday properties before and never previously made any complaint. We were very disappointed in this experience and in the end came home early. Caveat Emptor!

Many thanks for taking your time to leave your feedback. We can only apologise that you felt misinformed about the parking, I can confirm that there are two bullet points on the website that advise guests of the parking and location of the property, one reads “A parking permit is provided for use in an un-allocated space in the town centre car park” and the second “Note: The property is situated in Above Town and is approached up a steep hill”. There is also a red note on the bottom of the page which also mentions the location of the property. When searching for the property on the website we could not find the anything that suggested allocated parking. We were surprised to read that you had trouble finding the property as we have not had this in the past. We are disappointed to hear that you felt we treated you as a “difficult customer” we pride ourselves on customer service and have clearly fallen short on this occasion, and for this we are truly sorry. We have taken all your comments on board and will look again at the description of the property on the website and amend anything if needed. We would like to apologise again for any misunderstanding or inconvenience caused and we hope you managed to enjoy some of your holiday and all Dartmouth has to offer. Property Owner

  • "The home was very well presented, clean and tidy and comfortable."

We enjoyed our stay and the surrounding area is beautiful. However we felt that the cottage was a little underprepared, (no curtains living room, some basic kitchen utensils missing, slight damp smell in main bedroom). We were unaware there would be neighbours above which was a little distracting late at night (hear every step) with a small child but overall we enjoyed our stay!

We are pleased you enjoyed your stay and would like to thank you for your review Lewis; it’s good to have feedback in the first season. Thank-you for highlighting the damp smell, on investigation there was a leak which has subsequently been fixed Thank you for your comments about the curtains; we are going to act on this and arrange installation as soon as we can. The utensils you mentioned have been supplied and taken to the property We are sorry that you missed the information on the advert ‘that it’s a ground floor duplex apartment’ but we are pleased that you still enjoyed your stay regardless Kind regards Sue and Steve Property Owner
