  • "A lovely flat, well laid out and spacious, double bed really comfortable."

Very conveient for local amenities and only a short walk into town or the quayside.A bit disappointed there were no basic condiments in the larder and no welcome pack. Only real let down was the traffic noise & fumes. The flat overhangs one of the busiest roads in Dartmouths one way system. Very busy most of the day and a motorbike race track at night. For all that, if you can put up with the traffic its a great place to stay.

However, I felt it was a bit peculiar the fridge wasn't working and a small fridge had been installed next to the sofa. Not terribly inconvenient but a little strange. The only two thigs I would comment on are the double bed which was soft and didn't suit our backs at all and Dartmouth itself, a beautiful town but sadly lacking in eateries in the evening. Four times we ventured out to eat and twice came back with takeaways, for a seaside town it was peculiar. I would recommend Kendricks but you would probably have to book.

    5. In which we have just arrived for so I thougth I must mention it is now the second day Friday for my fortnight's holiday. I was so surprised from the previous review clients review....Regarding the fridge/freezer that this should of been change at least 12 months ago as it was on it last legs and we did report this!!! ALSO the television that has a most irritating Sun spot in the middle of the screen!!! We have noticed that several small items have also seen their days...The table mats are most unhygienic, the toaster just wants to burn everything, and please some new drinking glasses. The blind on the lounge window has been damaged for years and this again needs changing. We are very regular clients staying it would be lovely for these to be seen fixed. And my husband has just reminded me of the cupboard lights.e.g 1 is just dangles and 2 keeps flashing.. These have been like this for several months.

Tap left on in Bath at number 10. We got them to turn it off at 10am but it had been filling the ceiling cavity up while we were out walking. Both bathrooms were a mess and water drips covered ran down the main bedroom . Luke at CC no help at all. Kate at CC sent a good electrian in at 12.30 pm. I had to clean up the water mess and no one from CC apologised or even bothered to ask how we were. 4 hours wasted Easter Sunday then we went 3 days having to use a torch in the ensuite no extractors fans in either bathroom and a dreadful smell drying the home out. Tuesday Dartmouth office open spoke to staff but no apology or offer of any customer service what so ever. Love Dartmouth, love the apartment but do not enjoy the service offered at all by CC

Lots of useful equipment and plenty of crockery to use. Bathrooms were both comfortable to use and plenty of pressure in the water. Only downside was the removal of the piano which my husband, a dedicated pianist, had prepared a bag of music to play- only to find it was no longer available (therefore 3 on the accuracy of listing). However we filled our evenings with games of Monopoly! A lovely stay and one we will look out for again!

  • "Having just got back from No."

5 Dartmouth House, we've already started to look to book again for next year so perhaps that suggests that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was our first visit to Dartmouth despite having family in Devon and very close by and we couldn't fault the town itself. Yes there are a few empty shops but which town hasn't got them. Dartmouth had everything we needed and more...it is beautiful. The apartment was perfectly placed just a stones throw from the river, harbour, gardens and town. It was so well equipped, clean and comfortable, home from home for us. We had a little trouble with the sink and the food waste as the plug had been put in the wrong way by the previous occupants or staff member but the office soon sent out a plumber to easily sort out the problem and of course made us feel a little silly but it made us giggle! The bed in the double room was a little uncomfortable as it sinks down on both sides but our children didn't complain about the single beds. The traffic noise does eventually die down and you soon get use to it and I think we can all expect the seagull alarm clock (3:30am-4am) being so close to the sea but we are early risers anyway and the best time of the day by the Dart is early morning. We loved the fact that we didnt actually move our car for 3 days so its definitely an added bonus having secure parking in the basement, although the space is a little tight so you just hope you dont get a whopping great vehicle parked next to you! Overall, we are really pleased that we have discovered Dartmouth and discovered Dartmouth House, we loved our stay.

The glass door on the bath does not stop water escaping when taking a shower so the floor in bathroom floods badly. The mattress on king size bed has gone lumpy on one side. The grill pan was thick grease on our arrival and the oven was greasy and we couldn't use it until I cleaned it on the first night. I informed the office the following morning who offered to send a cleaner but it was too late as I had done it. Otherwise the apartment was clean and we had a wonderful week and look forward to coming again as the benefit out way the faults.

  • "Lovely to leave the car behind and be able to walk into Dartmouth."

The apartment was well equipped and mostly clean (the lounge floor had not been cleaned before our arrival). Mattresses on all beds were uncomfortable and the noise of passing road traffic and people talking as the walk along the pavement outside from 6am very noticeable and intrusive. (Maybe some secondary double glazing would help). I have stayed in an apartment on a higher floor in this house previously and although you heard the traffic it never woke you up or encroached on what should be a relaxing break from home. Unfortunately based on these factors I would not stay in this apartment again.

  • "We had a lovely week in a very comfortable, clean and most convenient apartment."

The car parking space is a god send in Dartmouth! If I had to find something negative the only things I would say is that the mattress slopes a little away from the middle and you find yourself sleeping on the edge of the bed! Also, as there are only the doors at the Juliet balconies and no other windows it is not possible to have a window open at night and I do like to sleep with a window open. That said neither of these things would stop us returning to this lovely apartment. I would like to add two special thank you's : one to the staff at Coast and Country who got a spare set of keys to us so quickly when we locked our set in the car! And the second to the owners of 5 Dartmouth House who thoughtfully left us the beautiful Christmas hamper.

  • "The photo of the sitting room furniture in the online description does not now match the furniture currently in No."

    5. It is now a very low backed sofa with no head support, which we found uncomfortable & had to use a pillow for support. The tiles in the shower room need a thorough clean, which we have already spoken about to a member of staff on our departure. Apart from the above, we enjoyed our stay very much, the apartment was clean, with plenty of crockery & cutlery, & the heating was very efficient. The bedrooms were large with plenty of hanging & storage space. We knew it would be noisy from the road outside, as we have stayed several times before in different apartments, but some people may find it annoying, just something to point out, perhaps. All in all, a very pleasant holiday in our favourite place, Dartmouth!

  • "We visited 5 Dartmouth house for one week during August as a party of 3 adults one of which has limited mobility."

We found the apartment spotless and very comfortable with plenty of space which helped as one of my party uses a scooter and a walking frame. The lift from the parking area was very good for accessing the apartment, but the parking space was very tight especially for a larger car. The only down side we found was as we had beautiful weather during our visit it was very stuffy. Even though there were two French windows one lounge one master bedroom it was just too noisy to keep them open and unfortunately builders merchant Travis Perkins is a few steps away, this led to heavy delivery lorries unloading and loading from early morning. We feel the apartment would benefit from some air conditioning or even a couple of fans would be helpful. The opposite car park was no problem at all. Even though this is a beautiful apartment we wouldn't choose to stay again.

Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback following your stay at 5 Dartmouth House. We are so pleased to hear that it suited your group's requirements, and that mobility was not an issue in this property. We will pass on to the Owner your comments regarding the possibility of providing some fans for guests use next Summer. We hope that we may welcome you back to another property in Devon soon. • "As previously mentioned, the apartment is lovely and well equipped, and perfect central location for Dartmouth (without any hills to climb to access the property which is rare in Dartmouth!"

); the added bonus of parking makes a massive difference, so would definitely stay there again! It is however worth noting that it is noisy at night from the road so it may be worth taking ear plugs (both bedrooms face the road), and when the weather is good it gets very hot, so with the Juliet balcony doors being the only windows, makes it very difficult to get any air flow at night (we took travel fans). The two single beds are on the hard side so if we stayed there again we would take mattress toppers as both teens complained they were uncomfortable. These are minor points so I wouldn’t let that put you off staying at the property, just be prepared! :)

  • "This is a lovely apartment with top quality fittings and all that you need for your stay, however the under cupboard lights in the kitchen were not working which meant preparing your food in a very dim light as the only natural light was from the Juliet balcony doors in the same room."

Also the toilet in the en suite bathroom was not fixed to the floor and tipped forward if you sat on it, luckily there are two bathrooms so we did not need to use this one ! It is also unfortunate that the design of the building meant that there was no way to ventilate the open plan lounge/diner/kitchen other than opening the Juliet balcony doors and the same applied to the main bedroom and this was not practical being on the ground floor and near to the traffic. As we were lucky to enjoy some lovely hot weather this was a bit of a drawback. Unfortunately some roadworks were taking place right outside our window so this did not help either but obviously this was unavoidable for the owners. Having said all this the apartment is in a great position for all that lovely Dartmouth has to offer and of course having your own parking space is a great bonus. I would still recommend this property and trust that Coast and Country make sure the issues mentioned are addressed.

  • "An excellently equipped apartment."

Chosen for its accessibility to Dartmouth town centre and that it had a guaranteed parking space. We were with a ten week old baby so we were not really going anywhere - just strolling around the town, going on a steam train to Paignton (from Kingswear) and a boat trip to Totnes. It was on the town ring road and we knew it would be potentially noisy - but not too bad even with the windows open. If there was a criticism, it was the inability to get any real air into the property, even with the windows open, so it was a bit stuffy and this was when the day temperatures were only 20-22 C.
