  • "The views from this property were fabulous and except for a few places the property was clean and very comfortable."

Although it was advertised as pet friendly this was only in relation to the owners being happy for pets to stay. We took two dogs and there was no garden only a patio area which caused a real problem mornings and evenings. Dartmouth is a beautiful place and I would love to visit again in the summer. Parking is a real problem and you need to be fit to cope with all the hills.

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to post a review. We really hope you enjoyed your Christmas break at Gallery 34. Hopefully you will have received a few festive goodies to make you feel welcome. Your comments on presentation have been fed back to our housekeeper. We haven’t received comments in the past about pet-friendliness and the property’s enclosed terrace-garden and decking, but we have changed the wording (on the website) which describes the outside space that guests (human and canine) can expect to enjoy. Hopefully, along with the pictures already provided, it will be even clearer. So glad you liked Dartmouth. R & L Property Owner

  • "Thank you to staff for responding quickly to our initial issues, inc stained linen on one bed."

Info on the property said that parking was in the Mayors Avenue car park. We arrived around 7pm after a 7 hour journey, collected the keys and car park permit, unloaded the car and returned to Mayors Avenue to park. I was pleased to see the Mayors Ave permit holders car park opposite the Coast & Country office, and so parked in there. I was very upset to arrive at the car two days later to find a parking ticket on it - not a good start to the holiday. You must put in all the mails you send out before holidays in Dartmouth that parking is in the pay and display car park only - I saw two other cars in the permit holders car park with Coast & Country permits displayed, so it was not just me. The bathrooms, particularly the en suite, smelled damp. I appreciate it is an old building built into the hillside, but the smell was unpleasant. The lounge/dining/kitchen floor was very good and we appreciated this room + the range of kitchen equipment.

  • "Cutlery and plates were dirty when we arrived and we had to clean everything before we could use."

Steps up the side of the house were used by members of the public at 3am every morning?? gate being slammed woke us up and the security light came on

Many thanks for your feedback, although we were concerned to read that the property was not satisfactorily presented prior to your arrival. We work very hard with our owners and housekeepers to ensure high standards of cleanliness are maintained, so it is disappointing to read these comments. Your feedback has been passed on to the housekeeper/cleaner concerned and we will request that the cutlery and equipment, in particular, are given a thorough clean. We are surprised to read that you had a noise issue as we have not had this nature of complaint in the past. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused. We do hope in spite of these issues that you enjoyed your time in Dartmouth. Property Owner

  • "Fantastic property and location."

The only negative being the property was cold and there were no instructions on how to use the central heating. But saying that it did not put us off and we are already planning a return visit later this year.

  • "The cottage is so well equipped with attention to detail and quality fixtures and fittings."

The location is perfect with everything on the doorstep and yet an exclusive, hidden feeling. We found the large main bedroom a little cold and damp with the ensuite shower room particularly cold? Understand its is difficult given the location of the cottage built into the bank etc but wondered if an additional heater etc could be provided for this area? Don't want this small fact to detract from an otherwise delightful cottage and we will look to return next year! Please pass on our gratitude to the owners for an amazing stay.

Thank you for your feedback and we are so pleased to hear that you will be returning to Gallery 34 in the future. We are sorry to hear you felt cold in the master bedroom, there are 2 new heaters in the room so it may just be that they needed to be turned on. We shall ensure that our property checker turns these on for all future bookings during the cooler months. Please don't hesitate to call the office direct if you encounter issues like this as we are able to attend and rectify most issues to allow you a fabulous break. We look forward to welcoming you back to Gallery 34 in the near future. Property Owner

  • "We had a fantastic week in Dartmouth at Gallery 34."

Beautiful views, lounge, decking and a very comfortable place to hang out. Location is perfect, right by the best pubs and chippy - yet you have the woods behind for dog walks and the coast walk from the doorstep. We ended up eating in a lot - super appliances and a lovely view. Sykes were perfect - we had booked elsewhere yet they let us change plans despite it being against the t&cs. Thanks for a great holiday.

Sitting in a prominent position in Dartmouth is this superb property, resting amidst the hustle and bustle of this Devonshire town.

Situated across four floors and sleeping up to six people this property is ideal for exploring all that this corner of Devon has to offer with your friends and family.

Enter the property onto the first floor, where you will be welcomed into the well-equipped kitchen, boasting everything you will require to pack a picnic for the next day’s beach day or even a delicious home-cooked evening meal.

Once dinner is cooked, re-group with your loved ones within the dining room, where the large windows flood in natural light into the space and offering pretty views across the River Dart to enjoy as you tuck in.

Joining the dining area is the sitting room, where a woodburning stove takes centre stage; light the fire and cosy up on the sofa before tuning into the TV; a perfect spot for those chilly winter evenings or rainy days.

Follow the staircase up to find an alternative sitting room, with limited head height, open up the Velux windows and admire the views across Dartmouth town or unwind on the sofa with a book in hand, as a cool breeze gently fills the room on a summer’s afternoon.

At the end of your adventures, retreat to the bedrooms, each one enjoying a refreshing ambiance and plenty of storage to keep your things.

Choose to catch your rest in either the super king-size bedroom with en-suite, the kingsize double or the lower-ground-floor twin bedroom, offering a flexible arrangement for all party make-ups.

To the outside of the property is a rear patio with steps leading up to a raised deck, where you can further soak up the views and enjoy al fresco dining at its best.

With its excellent, central location, a wide range of shops rest just paces away, as well as a number of eateries and pubs to enjoy if you do not feel like cooking one evening or fancy a sweet treat.

For things to do, be sure to immerse yourself in the local history by exploring the historic wonder of Dartmouth Castle and Bayard’s Cove Fort.

For a traditional beach day, travel slightly further afield to Blackpool Sands, a Blue Flag Award winning beach or enjoy the coastal setting further by walking along the famous South West Coast Path.

Alternatively, for a unique experience, hop on board the Dartmouth Steam Railway and travel through the countryside setting to Paignton, or you could enjoy a boat trip to Brixham, an attractive harbour town.

Gallery 34 promises to be an unforgettable break to Devon.

About the location

Totnes 12 miles.

Dartmouth lies on the banks of the beautiful River Dart estuary in the popular and picturesque South Hams area of South Devon. Located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the coast, Dartmouth is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Devon. It offers a stunning waterfront, ancient narrow streets lined with boutique shops, restaurants and art galleries plus many local events such as the annual Dart Music Festival and the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta, along with the Dartmouth Food Festival held every October. There are many interesting cycling and walking routes around Dartmouth, including the South West Coast Path, the Dart Valley Trail and plenty of quiet country lanes. A trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway through picturesque countryside to Paignton is a must, and so is a boat trip across to Kingswear and on to Brixham, a pretty little harbour town. For those seeking some beach activities, there is a wide choice in the South Hams area such as Blue Flag Award winner Blackpool Sands, and Slapton Sands, both extremely popular and just a stone's throw from Dartmouth. A relaxing location in South Devon.
