"Lovely house, very comfortable."
Ideal location for exploring the area. Only minus point was no telescope! No problem for us, but a small boy might be disappointed to find that it wasn't there as outlined in the house description.

"Mainstay is a fabulous property in a great location."
The property has been renovated to a high standard, lots of thought. Kingswear is quiet and has no local shop anymore but very close to the ferry to Dartmouth (3 minute ferry for £1.50). Beautiful views and lovely base to explore from.

"It is a great location, although not a quiet one."
There is noise from the lower ferry, the traffic and the railway station - as well as the seagulls! Not suitable for people with mobility problems who can’t manage stairs.

"This was a return visit to Mainstay and we were not disappointed- the property is still immaculate, and well situated."
We hardly had to drive at all during our stay- we did most of our sightseeing and eating out by using the ferries, boat trips and walking! We hope to return again soon. Highly recommended.

"Top location."
High standard holiday let. Owner friendly helpful and nearby. A proper 9.5 out of 10. Hard to think there is any better holiday let for 2-4 in Kingswear.

"What surprised us most was how well the cottage had been renovated, to the highest standards and with excellent taste."
It was absolutely beautifully done and the downstairs bathroom particularly luxurious. Nick, the owner, had thought of everything, from phone charging stations to leaving more than just the usual essentials in the food cupboard. The beds were really comfortable and the cottage is in an excellent situation for exploring the area. Nick was very helpful and friendly, and came round within 20 minutes when we had a minor problem, and fixed it. The only negative is the parking and this is the reason I'm not giving Helpful Holidays full marks for accuracy of the listing. It is unlikely that one of the 5 coveted spaces opposite the property is free and if it is, you need to move your car twice a day. You claim that parking can usually be found in a quiet road nearby but this is not the case unless you climb up an enormously steep hill, and even then the parking by the road is usually full. We had to park in the car park, costing us £8.50 per day. This is a steep addition to the holiday cost. We think you should mention this in the listing.

"Mainstay, our holiday cottage for the week, was absolutely lovely with every need catered for."
It was beautifully furnished and very clean. The views were exceptional across the river to Dartmouth. The location was great too with 2 pubs within a stones throw, a local shop a short walk away and both the lower ferry and Steam railway just around the corner. Thoroughly recommend....

Information for disabled badge holders - we were advised by local traffic warden that the blue badge overrides local parking permits. (August 2019) So you can park opposite the apartment.

"Mainstay is within easy car free access ( via ferry) of all the attractions of Dartmouth but there is also a wonderful cafe and pub on the Kingswear side."
The views from the main bedroom and the upstairs lounge are very special indeed and the whole property is fitted out to a high standard. Walkers will enjoy the walk to Greenways, Agatha Christies home ( get the ferry back) and, in the other direction, along the coast path to Colton Fishacre. Highly recommend

"A beautifully presented property making it a real home from home with lovely linens and bathroom luxuries just like a 5* hotel but with all the comforts and flexibility of self catering!"
Kingswear is a characterful, quintessentially Devon fishing village and so well placed for access to the equally charming but larger, Dartmouth. Lots to see and do and for visitors who enjoy beach holidays it offers easy access to prime beaches, or for Agatha Christe fans - a day out by steam train to Agatha Christie's home, "Greenways" and return by river cruise was a highlight of our stay.
With advance planning it's possible to book a tour of the naval Dartmouth College.
Mainstay is In all a location which offers something for all ages and interests. We will certainly be back!

"We loved our holiday accommodation!"
The photos represented it accurately, and the owners were lovely to speak to. The upper lounge/ diner/ kitchen was bright, light and airy, with a kitchen fully kitted out for any cooking needs. The bedrooms were clean and comfortable, with plenty of storage space for clothes, and good blinds to block out the early morning sunshine. Although it's near the ferry crossing and steam train station, these only added to the charm, therefore making it a really accessible spot for anyone wanting to cross to Dartmouth and get around. The views overlooked the harbour, with an everchanging scene of sky and activity. It was a perfect spot for visiting the area, and I can heartily recommend Mainstay.

"Firstly I do not like being charged a booking fee - you never used to charge it."
Secondly it was only after paying the final balance that we were informed that to park the car it would cost £6.40 a day! It makes the accommodation very expensive.
Also had a problem getting the entry key code and had to make a number of calls.
Previous holidays with you have been perfect, so we were very disappointed.
