  • "The cottage was lovely and so central!"

Lovely and clean our only gripe was that the tumble dryer didn’t work, it rained everyday so would have been so good to have had dry clothes! En-suite lovely, but very damp - the walls and floor didn’t ever seem to dry despite us putting fan on and opening windows in bedroom. Slight musty smell too - not sure if this was damp. Having said all that it really is a lovely cottage in the most convenient location!

  • "The property was great and had everything we needed and was in a really central location."

There was one drawback to this though, being right next to the church meant very loud bells ringing every hour, all through the day and night. Ear plugs are definitely needed even if you're a heavy sleeper and triple glazing wouldn't go amiss.

The property

Marymede, a beautiful end-of-terrace house, is located in the centre of Dartmouth, next to St Saviours Church.

Marymede, set over two floors and decorated to a high standard, is an ideal retreat for a family or two couples wishing to escape to Devon.

Step into the entrance hallway, taking off your jackets before entering the kitchen, which is equipped with everything you need for a quick break, including an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, and even a dishwasher, so you won't have to lift a finger when it comes to washing up!

As the evening approaches, relax on the sofa while catching up on your favourite TV shows, pondering on where to visit next.

As the woodburning stove heats the room, set the dining table for a hearty meal, complemented with a glass of prosecco.

The bedrooms are located upstairs, including the master, which has a king-size bed and an en-suite shower, and the second room, which has a twin bed that can be converted as a king-size on request and is serviced by the freshening bathroom.

When you're ready to go exploring, the picturesque town of Dartmouth has a plethora of activities; learn about the town's rich history at the Dartmouth Museum, see the majestic Dartmouth Castle, or bring your bucket and spade and lounge on the beaches of Sugary Cove Beach.

If you want to spend a night away from the kitchen, take your guests to The Floating Bridge or Dartmouth Arms, both of which serve a fantastic food and give stunning views of the River Dart while you dine.

Totnes, home to the spectacular Totnes Castle, which dominates the skyline, as well as Totnes Museum and Rare Breeds Farm, should be on your radar as you go farther out.

Look no further than Marymede for an action-packed getaway in a great location.

About the location

DARTMOUTH

Totnes 12 miles.

Dartmouth lies on the banks of the beautiful River Dart estuary in the popular and picturesque South Hams area of South Devon. Located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the coast, Dartmouth is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Devon. It offers a stunning waterfront, ancient narrow streets lined with boutique shops, restaurants and art galleries plus many local events such as the annual Dart Music Festival and the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta, along with the Dartmouth Food Festival held every October. There are many interesting cycling and walking routes around Dartmouth, including the South West Coast Path, the Dart Valley Trail and plenty of quiet country lanes. A trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway through picturesque countryside to Paignton is a must, and so is a boat trip across to Kingswear and on to Brixham, a pretty little harbour town. For those seeking some beach activities, there is a wide choice in the South Hams area such as Blue Flag Award winner Blackpool Sands, and Slapton Sands, both extremely popular and just a stone's throw from Dartmouth. A relaxing location in South Devon.
