  • "Quay Lodge was modern, clean and luxurious with an amazing view of the river."

Everything you could need was supplied and the facilities were good quality. The owner was very accommodating. This wasn’t our original booking but we were changed to this property at the last minute and we couldn’t have been happier.

Position and view is lovely . However the same brown leather sofa is still there. When we stayed in 2022 it was sagging in the middle quite badly. I was disappointed to see it still there this year . One weeks rental would easily pay to replace it . Renewing future should be expect when holiday letting . It was very clean and well equipped as always.

  • "This is a lovely property in an ideal location but we were disappointed with the agents ‘Coast & Country’."

We were unable to get into the property on the day we arrived & no one was in the office to answer our phone call although it was before 5pm. Fortunately a neighbour spotted our predicament & told us how to get in. (Turn the key clockwise in the top lock & anti clockwise in the bottom lock.) He knew this from 10 years of experience! Also the welcome pack was meagre; the packaging was worth more than the contents. But…..once we got in we had a great stay & would highly recommend the accommodation which was clean & comfortable. Every room is well furnished & has great views 9of the river. A perfect spot for your holiday!

  • "The property was superb, very comfortable and stunning location!"

The garage was difficult to get into with a Ford Focus, so anyone with a larger car would struggle to use it, but this was states on the description, so no complaints. very enjoyable stay. Thank you!

  • "Whilst the property was lovely the short break was spoilt by a broken toilet."

On arrival the flush didn’t work which we reported and someone did come out to fix, but we spent 2 hours in while this was being done. A new flush was fitted, but after the repair man left we found we could know flush but water was now gushing out and overflowing on the floor, so unable to use. This was repaired the next day, but as we only had a short two night break booked we were unable to use the toilet for a day and half so spoilt the stay.

Cons, sofas not very supportive had to sit on top of cushions, garage very challenging to get in and out, steep steps up to property slippy when wet, lastly a rather pathetic welcome pack no better than a overnight hotel pack. But overall had a good week there and would go back.

The bedrooms and living room get plenty of sun with bi fold doors onto a balcony. There is also a sunny terrace and a garage which is a boon in Dartmouth. It is excellently situated near the river and Dartmouth centre. This is our sixth stay here and have booked again for next June 2024 which really says it all !

  • "Our first ever stay in Quay Lodge and our first visit to Dartmouth in long time didn't disappoint."

Quay Lodge had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The refreshment and cleaning welcome packs were a nice surprise. The kitchen was well equipped and there was plenty of storage space in the bedrooms. The location was very good (just close enough to shops, pubs etc). Parking can be difficult in Dartmouth so a garage was definitely a plus. Having read some reviews we were a little nervous of parking in the garage, although there was actually enough room for our medium sized car (Toyota Auris). The angle of the garage and a wall in front made it a bit tricky to access and we found driving in forwards and reversing out by far the best way. If, unlike us, you are used to parking in a garage you may not find this is a problem. We left the car behind when possible and used all the ferries and buses instead. We appreciated the light and airy feel and the views from all the rooms. However, light sleepers might have difficulty sleeping in Spring/summer since the bedroom blinds don't shut out the light very well. Overall though, we had a very enjoyable and relaxing holiday and would definitely go back to Quay Lodge again.

    Reviewed by LindaApr 2023

  • "The main disappointment of this listing was the car parking."

Unless you have a small vehicle it is unlikely you will fit in a medium + vehicle in the garage due to size and configuration of the road. I had to rent a parking space 25mins away. With small children and the nature of last minute meant the situation meant the holiday was negatively impacted which was I shame.

We did need more specific instructions about how to find it, as we didn't have a car and had to first go to the office to pick up the key. If we'd not had a very helpful local direct us, it would have been difficult to find it. But it was a great place to stay and we hope to return.

  • "Nice to be back at Quay Lodge and Dartmouth again, ideally placed and great to have a garage to park in."

Everything you could think you need is there for your use, just remember to take a few extra loo rolls as only two small ones were supplied! Still disappointed there is not recycling at the the property but pleased there is more variety now available at Mayors Car Park. The sofa's are getting a bit tired and you sink in very low, very difficult to get out of with a knee problem. The carpets could do with a good spot treatment and steam clean to rid stains that were there last year. Liked the new chairs and table on the balcony, very comfortable. Overall it is a lovely property just needs a little bit of attention to bring its sparkle back again.

! We loved the decor in each room. The beds were fabulous, firm and comfortable to sleep on. However we can’t say the same for the sofa which we found too soft and not good for people with back problems even with a little support from the cushions. I was thankful for the dining chairs which I used instead at times . Apart from that we thoroughly enjoyed staying at Quay Lodge very much.

  • "Really enjoyed Quay Lodge."

Good size, bright and clean. Everything you need is available. If early morning sun wakes you, take an eyemask. Sorted. Not too far out of town but far enough to get your daily steps in. After a few days the hills are easier to manage too. Things to note. The king size bed is comfy but very firm. I went in the single after a couple of nights. Personal choice, that's all. The garage is very narrow and tricky to get in but you eventually develop the knack. Don't leave keys in the lock when you raise the door. Husband quite stressed after the first attempt at parking in the garage, he forgot. The agents managed to get the snapped key out and gives a spare. No fuss, very helpful ( I'm guessing not the first time it's happened) I would stay here again.

.. ideally situated close enough to town to walk in but far enough out to be quiet. The lodge is cosy with everything you could think of needing and some you didn't know you needed! Took us a while to work out the underfloor heating system to turn it down/off as it was unusually mild for our stay (that was with the instruction book). It was nice having the garage to stow the car safely, the A3 fitted in perfectly. Our only negative was that we were disappointed that there wasn't a recycle option for waste, just one bin for all with a stipulation glass couldn't be put in, no problem we could drop off glass at the recycling point in Mayor's Car park when passing but that was the only option there, no cardboard or plastic options so we just brought the cleaner items it home - not good for product carbon footprint but at least we felt happier than just throwing in with the general waste!

The location in great with the added bonus of a garage , a must this close to town. The views of the river and the activity upon it are enough to keep you entertained for hours, even in the dreariest weather. The only downside to the lodge are the steep steps up, which may be too much to cope with for the elderly or infirm. Again the staff in the local office could not have been more helpful. We were allowed access to the garage early when parking proved impossible when we first arrived ahead of check in. They also quickly sorted out the return of an item I foolishly left behind . Top Tip, check the back of door before you leave! Thank you again for all your help. Would highly recommend to anyone and everyone.

Right next to the Dart Martina and the Floating Bridge pub for drinks and meals (spa access to the dart marina is included which is nice). Only downside is the WIFI for the internet is poor - the owner has it running from another house, and if more than one or two devices are growing the internet, it grinds to a halt.

One think we did not like was there were only blinds in the bedroom and this meant no sleep ins as daylight came through them and it was light by 6 a.m. - it needs to be at least black out blinds in the bedroom or addition of curtains. Plenty of storage space for clothes and walking boots etc. Kitchen really well stocked with plenty of equipment and comfortable chairs in lounge. Would appreciate sky on the tv for the price you are paying for this property - One issue - the garage! - our car is a Mercedes and it was really too big for the single storey garage below and we ended up parking on the front at Dartmouth as it was free until 1st April, but if you are coming in the summer, it is a very tight squeeze for a larger car !
