  • "Sail View was a lovely place for a break; clean and comfortable with everything provided within the property."

We really enjoyed our stay there. I am sometimes hesitant about staying at a property where there is no parking but we did not need it. The car park was close, there were spaces and a clear permit was provided on arrival. The car was not moved for 4 days as the many ferry services took us where we needed to go ( in combination with the Kingswear train) Dartmouth and the surrounding area are beautiful, Dartmouth has many good places to eat and drink, all within a short walk from Sail View. A great break made better by the excellent travel directions and helpful staff when we collected the key.

  • "Lovely property."

Spotless. Right in the middle of the town. Very generous with the extras like dishwasher and washing tabs, kitchen essentials. Loads of pots, pans, china. Will be back.

  • "We had a lovely short stay in this light and airy well maintained apartment."

It has all the facilities you could need and was warm and cosy. We particularly enjoyed the views across the roof tops with the tops of the boat masts on the river beyond. There was still lots to see and do in and around Dartmouth even though it was so in early in the season! (March) I would highly recommend a stay in this excellent holiday apartment at any time of year.

We choose to return to Sail View because of how impressed we were following our first visit in August 2019. Dartmouth is a favourite of ours and we will definitely be returning. Thank you Sail View Regards Trisha, Steve, Katelynn

  • "A lovely, light and spacious flat in a great location a few minutes level walk from quay, shops and car park."

Our late arrival and early departure was accommodated without hesitation, top and tailing a perfect break. The flat was clean, stylish, comfortable, very well equipped and the permit for the main car park was very welcome. The flat is set one road back from the noisy quay, on the road to Dartmouth Castle which is about 20min level-ish (for Dartmouth) walk. On a fine day the view from the ticket office is exceptional. There is a handy cafe serving very tempting breakfasts from 07:00 within a few minutes walk and a good choice of cafes and restaurants in the town. Dartmouth and the surrounding are fascinating with a deep-rooted and often surprising history that is well worth exploring.

The property

This fantastic, second-floor apartment of Sail View rests in the heart of Dartmouth, Devon.

Enjoying elevated views of Dartmouth and being within easy reach of the town's harbour, and the River Dart, Sail View is the perfect dwelling for a family of four's staycation.

Make your way into the apartment to be enveloped by a well-appointed open-plan living space, where a sitting area awaits, with a large, corner sofa and an armchair for you to lounge as you enjoy a Blu-ray movie on the TV.

Just behind the sitting area is the impressive kitchen, a space hosting cream, shaker-style units that house a great selection of integrated appliances, including a dishwasher, an electric oven and a built-in microwave.

Enjoy dinner at the round dining table, a dining area surrounded by bay windows that bring in those views of Dartmouth's rooftops.

As the day comes to an end, choose between two thoughtfully laid-out bedrooms to rest in, one being a double showcasing blue accents, a TV and en-suite shower room, and the other being a zip/link twin that enjoys access to the close-by bathroom, a contemporary space that features a p-shaped bath with shower over.

Venture out into the picture-postcard town of Dartmouth, where you can find ample eateries and local shops dotted throughout the centre; why not hire a boat and sail along the River Dart, go for a leisurely stroll around the harbour, or visit the landmark of Bayard's Cove Fort?

A little further out of town, you can find the fortress of Dartmouth Castle, and the coastal footpath leading to Sugary Cove.

Travel to Stoke Fleming, where the National Trust nature reserve of Little Dartmouth can be found along the way, before soaking up the sun at the nearby Blackpool Sands and savouring a bite to eat at The Venus Café.

There is plenty more to discover in the wider region, including the nearby, bustling towns of Totnes, Paignton and Torquay.

For a coastal break to remember, look no further than Sail View.

About the location

DARTMOUTH

Totnes 12 miles.

Dartmouth lies on the banks of the beautiful River Dart estuary in the popular and picturesque South Hams area of South Devon. Located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the coast, Dartmouth is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Devon. It offers a stunning waterfront, ancient narrow streets lined with boutique shops, restaurants and art galleries plus many local events such as the annual Dart Music Festival and the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta, along with the Dartmouth Food Festival held every October. There are many interesting cycling and walking routes around Dartmouth, including the South West Coast Path, the Dart Valley Trail and plenty of quiet country lanes. A trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway through picturesque countryside to Paignton is a must, and so is a boat trip across to Kingswear and on to Brixham, a pretty little harbour town. For those seeking some beach activities, there is a wide choice in the South Hams area such as Blue Flag Award winner Blackpool Sands, and Slapton Sands, both extremely popular and just a stone's throw from Dartmouth. A relaxing location in South Devon.
