I am already missing waking up to the gorgeous view over Dartmouth. We really enjoyed our stay at The Boathouse as it felt homely and comfortable with everything we needed for our stay. If I had one critique it would be the sofas in the property, they weren't overly comfortable when we wanted to relax in the house during the evenings. They looked quite dirty and the throws were pointless falling off every 5 minutes. We stayed with our 2 children (8 & 5 years old) and this was ideal, they loved it too! The property is at the top of a very steep hill so I would say to anyone who isn't very mobile that it probably wouldn't be suitable. We loved the adventure though coming from a very flat Suffolk landscape. Parking was okay, the neighbour did advise us the space in front of the garage was "access only" so we parked a little way across the road, no problem but felt poignant to mention incase again someone choosing this property wasn't fully mobile. Overall a lovely stay and we would return again. This is our second holiday through Sykes and both times have been equally impressed with the quality of service. Would highly recommend booking through them. Reviewed by CelenaJul 2022 "We had a fabulous week at the Boathouse, it suited us perfectly." Quiet, comfortable and well equipped with stunning views from the sitting room and easily accessible outside decking. A very good base for exploring Dartmouth and the surrounding area. Private parking was a huge bonus. Many thanks to the owner for sharing their delightful home. Reviewed by PenelopeJun 2022 "Although the positives out weighed the negatives this property definitely requires money spending on it." The location has its benefits but does require a good level of fitness and driving capabilities to navigate the very difficult 33% gradient Crowthers Hill. The views are literally Stunning from the back of the property and made up for the quirky sofas and garden cushions (made out of sails) which belong sadly in Davy Jones locker. We did enjoy our stay at the Boathouse and loved Dartmouth Reviewed by MichaelJun 2022 "I have chosen to Holiday at the boathouse several times simply because I love it." It is so very well equipped and has stunning views from, the sitting room , the kitchen/breakfast room, and the garden, all looking over the town towards the college , the river and the countryside beyond - not forgetting the famous train. The free private parking which is the icing on the cake, so unusual in Dartmouth!! SueMay 2022 "A lovely cosy home with glorious views." "We had a super 2 night stay earlier this month. I was a little worried about some of the recent reviews, but the owner has obviously spent a fair amount on it in the past few months. There was no signs of damp anywhere, it was lovely, clean warm and cosy and the Wifi worked very well. Wonderful views sitting out on the decking only enhanced with a glass of wine. Would have no hesitation booking again.” Mr M KellandMay 2022 ""We spent the weekend in the Dartmouth area and really enjoyed the stay at The ..." "We spent the weekend in the Dartmouth area and really enjoyed the stay at The Boathouse, an excellent accommodation and very relaxing breakfasts looking out to the valley and down towards the River Dart, looking forward to the next visit” RoyApr 2022 "We stayed at The Boathouse for a week in March and it was a great place for a relaxing getaway." The house was well looked after and had everything we needed. The highlight was sitting in the cosy living room enjoying the great view over the town and river. The house is also well placed for exploring the town of Dartmouth and the surrounding area, but far enough away from the centre to be very peaceful. We had a fantastic holiday. Kindest Regards Jo and Keith Jo And KeithMar 2022 "We spent a very restful week at 52 Crowthers Hill." The Boathouse feels like a home from home, with its well equipped Kitchen and comfortable beds The location, just above the town is perfect. It has great views across to the Naval college and down to the estuary and is only a very short walk down to the town. There are some lovely walks, along Dyers Hill and across to Warfleet and Castle Point ,which you can access from the front door The property has its own private parking which makes live very easy. Highly recommended TimFeb 2022 "The carpets needed a good vacuum clean." There were cobwebs on the ceiling in the sitting room and the hallway. There were no instruction for the using of the oven. Reviewed by MichaelSep 2021 "Good points: Great location, stunning view, very well equipped kitchen." Not so good points: Quite damp and humid, the sofa was uncomfortable, and it could have done with a good clean. The decking was cordoned off, not sure why. Also no instructions for rubbish and recycling. Reviewed by SimonSep 2021 "I’m still waiting for a reply to my complaint." There is a serious damp problem at the boathouse. I emailed on the first day and we stayed for 2 weeks and still haven’t had this resolved. Because of the condition of the property it is no way worth the cost. Reviewed by HeatherJul 2021 "We felt the lounge furniture was uncomfortable and could do with updating." Bed was also quite hard. Reviewed by DavidJul 2021 "Appreciated sofa throws being provided by Coast & Country staff after we raised concerns about the state of the 2 lounge sofas." Condition of outside area/balcony was very poor (not withstanding the stunning views). There is a damp smell in the kitchen area which may need attention. Given it was a self catering accommodation, no space was given for guests to put their own food - all cupboards were jam packed full of owners ‘stuff’. The hallway runner was curled up and a trip hazard and needs replacing. The neighbours very politely pointed out that there is no parking available outside the Boathouse garage as this restricts access to their property? Overall, we enjoyed our holiday at the Boathouse and these comments are hopefully constructive. Reviewed by IshbelJun 2021 "The Boathouse is definitely worth a visit." The view over the River Dart is exceptional, we did not want to leave. It was really home from, relaxing and comfortable. The house has everything you need and more, I don’t think it really sells it’s self. The walk to the property from town is definitely cardiac hill but allows you that extra cake or wine. Dartmouth it’s self and all near by villages are worth a visit. We totally enjoyed our holiday and would recommend the Boathouse. Thank you for letting us enjoy this lovely home. Reviewed by LyndaMay 2021 "After my visit to the “Boathouse” cottage in Dartmouth, I thought it was imperative that I wrote a quick review to share my delight for future guests." A first plus is that the cottage, located in the town centre, has its own parking space, which in Dartmouth is extremely rare! As it is centrally located you can literally walk down the hill to the town in under 5 minutes, however it is a steep road and will take slightly longer going back up! As soon as you open the front door you can see that the cottage is going to be a pleasure to stay in. Every aspect is amazing, not only in how spotless it is, the decor, the immaculate new bathrooms. Then there are the picture postcard views of the river and town, from the living room, kitchen and very large decking area. All in all it made the lovely break so much more of an experience worth writing about - many thanks indeed! Steve, Southampton SteveMay 2021 "A beautiful little cottage to stay in with fantastic views from the living room." The accommodation is described as on a steep and narrow road, I was aware of this and checked on Google Earth/maps etc to see what it was like and didn't think it would be a problem. When we arrived I couldn't believe how steep the hill was (33% increase), and I had to stop on the hill as there was a car reversing out of the garage further up, as well as a car behind me. It wasn't the best experience and unfortunately shook me up which prevented us from venturing out in the car for the time we had at the Boat House. I am not a nervous driver but this was scary therefore I would not recommend the drive up to the cottage to a nervous/new driver. If you/the kids like watching Netflix/YouTube etc I would advise taking your own iPad/phone to watch this on as unfortunately there isn't a smart TV so it is very basic channels in the living room. Although there isn't Wifi so you must be able to hotspot your own connection. The pots and pans were dirty when we arrived, however in the current circumstances I washed everything up before using it anyway. Dartmouth is stunning, especially on a sunny day. A wonderful place to visit overall. Reviewed by EmilySep 2020 "The instructions for entry were precise and easy to follow." The house is in a perfect location for Dartmouth with a short walk into the town centre, the only downside being the walk up the hill to get home! The house itself is really well provisioned in terms of furniture and space. It has a gorgeous outside deck area which we really enjoyed having a drink watching the sunset. Nikki was an attentive host and made sure that we had arrived safely and gave us some good tips on things to see and do. I would strongly recommend the Boathouse to any prospective customer as it is a perfect holiday getaway in a lovely part of the world. Very well presented and would happily return. Only downside was no WiFi! Reviewed by JoanneAug 2019 "We just loved this place!" The view was amazing and the outdoor space a real joy to experience. The location was perfect. A few minutes walk and you are in the heart of Dartmouth. The walk up the hill kept us fit as did a run along the river. The apartment itself was great. My little one loved the piano and managed to learn a tune while we were there. The kitchen had everything you could think of which was amazing because we do cook when we are away. The iron was missing but was replaced within the hour. It was Regatta week, so lots going on to keep us entertained in Dartmouth. The outdoor pool, minutes away from the house, was a good find as was a trip to Blackpool Sands and South Sands beach in Salcombe. There was so much more around to do that we didn't get around to, but I won't fret because this is definitely a place we plan to return to! Reviewed by RachaelAug 2019 "Beautiful setting with magnificent views of the town and harbour." I even began to enjoy the walk up the hill Reviewed by MartinJul 2019 "We really enjoyed our holiday in Dartmouth and the apartment was really nice." The terrace in particular was a fabulous extra with the stunning views over the Dart. The only negative point was the lack of Broadband. Neither my husband or I are particularly concerned about being online all the time, but we really missed not being able to find out information about the area - it's history and it's walks and outings. We used the tourist centre but it was quite frustrating not being able to look things up . Reviewed by PatriciaJun 2019 "Lovely accommodation with everything you could need and a fantastic view to go with it !" ! The hill is a bit of a challenge but good to have parking alongside. Reviewed by HelenaJun 2019 "The cottage lacked some essentials." 1. There wasn't a welcome pack, when travelled a long way, it is a good gesture to provide tea and coffee, and some milk, even Travellodge provide tea and coffee. 2. There wasn't a grill pan. 3. Only one poor quality bin bag, no kitchen roll, and only 2 toilet rolls provided. Mr G GoorJul 2018 "Beautiful cottage with a terrific view" Nov 2017 "Excellent property." Comfortable, very well presented and clean. Everything we needed while staying was provided. The view over Dartmouth was stunning. The outside terrace was also lovely with garden furniture available. It was an amazing place. The steep walk up to the place was quite a fitness challenge! A wide car may also have difficulty along the narrow road leading up too. GinaJul 2016 "Love this property have stayed here a few times now, it is extremely well equipped , clean ,and spacious, with added bonus of parking space." The picture window provides excellent views over Dartmouth even on dismal days your spirits arn't dampened, The walk from the town can prove to be challenging at the beginning of your stay, but as the week progresses it gets much easier! I have to say I've missed this since arriving home! JANEJun 2016 "Excellent" May 2016 "Very well equipped cottage ." Clean and well looked after. Great views over Dartmouth .
