  • "Great quirky accommodation, Superb location in the middle of town, thoroughly enjoyed our stay"

  • "We really enjoyed our Christmas at The Old Library!"

What a great location, so close to bars and restaurants! The parking permit was a boon as there were plenty of parking spots out of season. The bedrooms were comfortable and nicely dark; we slept really well. Great showers in the bathrooms. The upstairs living space was bright, spacious and good for socialising. It was a pity that the SMEG fire and wine fridge were not working; they would have added to the occasion. The abundance of family photos made us feel like we were trespassing, although maybe some people would enjoy them. Thanks for having us

  • "Nicely appointed and appreciated high quality fittings and fixtures."

Comfortable stay for 2 people if however we had been a larger party would have liked additional sofa or softer lounge seating. We would have appreciated the use of a microwave as we opted to eat in a few nights. Aware property details does not list a microwave and realise many guests probably eat out. This was our first stay in Dartmouth and your property was perfectly located for us to get to know the town. We parked the car and didn’t use again for a week. We enjoyed our stay in Dartmouth and hope to return.

It has been decorated to a very high standard and we have a great week there. It’s in a great location for everything Dartmouth has to offer We will definitely be returning

  • "A fantastic place in the centre of Dartmouth, with all amenities."

It was great to have a washing machine and tumble dryer after days on the beach. The decor was fantastic. Both bathrooms were well equipped with lovely rain showers built into the ceiling. State of the art Miele cooker and microwave. A proper home from home. I highly recommend. Thank you for sharing it with us.

  • "The property is extremely well presented, but we did have an issue in that the kitchen sink was broken prior to our arrival by a previous guest."

the sink, along with a most other things, is 'bespoke' and as a result a replacement was not sourced during our stay. More generally the property is a bit impractical. The stairs aren't suitable for the young or elderly / infirm. Shower fittings, whilst aesthetically pleasing, were difficult to use and so controlling temperature / pressure of shower water was always a challenge. The property is in a very good location in the town centre and had the luxury of air-conditioning which was very welcome as the weather got quite hot some days. The staff in the office were very pleasant and efficient and were on hand to deal with any queries we had. Thank you for this!

  • "Main issues: No door to ensuite bathroom."

Ensuite bathroom too small to use comfortably. Storage very limited (except kitchen). No drawers or cupbords/shelves in bedrooms, Too much clutter. Most surfaces covered in memorabelea and dificult to put anything down anywear. Stair railing (chain) broken and obstructing staircase, family shower room shower mixer broke so shower would not work. Ensuite shower mixer also about to break. ensuite flush/water clearance very poor. Had to flush 3 to 5 times to clear pan with fear of overflow. Plumber Taps and plumbing fittings of poor quality, plumber who fixed family bathroom shower said parts not availible and had to bodge a fix (nie guy who did get it up and working again). In summary, the place looks great but not very practical or functional. Location is great but very noisy if you have to open the windows.

  • "Lovely place in a great location, comfortable beds and good range of appliances."

Decor starting to look tired in places and paper in small bedroom is very poor, hand chain on stairs tied to bracket with string, boarding for showers too heavy for us older clients.

Perhaps more instructions on hot water would be helpful

  • "Lovely property, with unusual features, and very spacious."

Great location. The only reason I have not rated a 5 for cleanliness, was due to noticing all the mattress/pillow protectors in all 3 bedrooms were stained, and considering the bedding provided was high quality, was disappointed to find stained protectors were used.

  • "I stayed at the Old Library with my partner over the new year."

I am actually from Dartmouth but now live in New York City so was looking for a nice retreat to return to. I actually used to visit the Old Library as a child when it was an actual Library. The property is fantastic, with the upstairs open plan living/kitchen area the statement piece with its huge ceilings. Very clean, finished to a high standard and absolutely perfect location bang in the middle of town and next to Cafe Alf Rescos. Cannot fault and will definitely be looking to stay here again whenever I return home in the future.

  • "The property is amazing with a real wow factor and a fabulous location but sadly the tv in the living room area doesn’t work properly and keeps cutting out."

This did impact on our family time in an evening and was difficult to watch anything. It wasn’t a Wi-Fi issue and other televisions in the property work fine, just this tv is failing and needs to be replaced. We reported it to the property managers and someone came out and factory reset the tv but there was nothing else they could do. Afterwards the tv sadly kept doing the same thing so I reported it again. Overall a brilliant property and Dartmouth is wonderful, but this simple issue was an unnecessary frustration throughout the stay.

Would definitely visit this property & Dartmouth again. Could have suppled some more basic items such as dishwasher tablets, salt & rinse aid amongst other things but they were minor issues. Some of seats could be more comfortable but again a minor thing compared to good quality and location of accommodation.

Got all the luxury n mod cons. Love it. - Downside is the comfort of sofa and bed mattress that lost their shape n firmness, n should be replaced. Also deep stepped stairs aren’t ideal for those with less mobility. I would recommend others to stay there.

  • "Overall we loved the property, its layout and location."

However a few negative points. We felt there should be a sliding door on the ensuite bathroom as there wasn’t much privacy. All four of us found the beds too soft, but understand this is a personal thing. There wasn’t anything to put the dirty towels/linen in and the instructions provided in the property and email did vary on this point. Also a few more bin bags would’ve been useful. However it was a great base for a brilliant time to enjoy Dartmouth and it’s surroundings, thank you!

Thank you for leaving feedback, it is very much appreciated and helps us to improve our service. in relation to your linen, there certainly should have been some bags left for you to be able to strip the beds, as well as instructions on what to do. We apologise that this was missed for your stay and this is something we will pick up with the cleaner. You will have been provided with a welcome pack which covers you for the first day or two of your stay. However, as this is a self-catering property, we do not provide anything further and so other essential items need to be purchased by guests. The other points raised will be passed on to the property owner for their consideration. We are glad you enjoyed your stay in Dartmouth and look forward to welcoming you again in the future! Will definately be going back again next year. Disappointed with lack of detail and information when we collected the keys. Information we needed we had to ask after rather than it being part of the handover. Parking permit was out of date and welcome pack mentioned discount vouchers to use during our stay which were not issued. Couldn't fault the accommodation but felt the agent did the bare minimum in terms of a handover.

Totnes 12 miles.

Dartmouth lies on the banks of the beautiful River Dart estuary in the popular and picturesque South Hams area of South Devon. Located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the coast, Dartmouth is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Devon. It offers a stunning waterfront, ancient narrow streets lined with boutique shops, restaurants and art galleries plus many local events such as the annual Dart Music Festival and the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta, along with the Dartmouth Food Festival held every October. There are many interesting cycling and walking routes around Dartmouth, including the South West Coast Path, the Dart Valley Trail and plenty of quiet country lanes. A trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway through picturesque countryside to Paignton is a must, and so is a boat trip across to Kingswear and on to Brixham, a pretty little harbour town. For those seeking some beach activities, there is a wide choice in the South Hams area such as Blue Flag Award winner Blackpool Sands, and Slapton Sands, both extremely popular and just a stone's throw from Dartmouth.
