Fantastic location very clean we have had a wonderful holiday would definitely come back the only thing I would say is that I would put pillow protectors on and have new pillows as they were very uncomfortable

  • "The apartment was fresh, lovely and clean."

It felt like home. Clean safe and comfortable! I have two Autistic sons who have sensory overload and they thoroughly enjoyed our apartment very spacious and light. I had emailed Sykescottages.co.uk before our holiday about the cleanliness and any different changes as due to Covid. My fears were rapidly washed away as they had answered all queries. Sending an email of extra ideas to pack for our holiday which was very helpful. We had a fantastic holiday! We have had our holidays here for the last 3 years and my family wants to come back again next year!

Their was mould in the fist apartment so the manager of the apartment's moved us to a different apartment, an in this apartment we found that there was mould on the curtains with in the living room.

  • "The first night we were invaded by ants in the bedroom and had to sleep on the seetee."

The man in charge came on the Sunday and done everything he could but we had to put the bed in the middle of the room as there was ant traps and powder in the room. The beds were the most uncomfortable we have ever experienced.

  • "The cottage is nice but it would be very useful to have some coat hooks near the front door."

Also, a shaver socket in the bathroom and a sieve in the kitchen would be useful. It would be helpful to leave some washing-up liquid so that guests did not have to buy it afresh each time. Otherwise the cottage is pleasant and spacious.

  • "Location wonderful with a short walk to the beach."

Facilities in apartment great , catering for your home from home needs. Spacious rooms. The smallest bedroom has bunk beds and the boiler is housed in there so running the shower or hot tap whilst someone still sleeping could be an issue for some. Car parking no problem as there are spaces for approx 16 + cars so the mention of car parking on a first come first served refers to spaces not numbered/reserved to each apartment and you may have to use an alternative space each time but plenty of spaces. Howard was friendly and helpful. Our only niggle was the very poor mattresses on the beds. Especially the double where we could feel each spring and they played a tune as you lay down/stood up and caused us aches and pains each morning and waking us in the night. We lay a spare duvet across the bed as a mattress topper but not much better. Dawlish Warren a lovely place to stay. Would return to the apartment if Howard gets new mattresses !!!!!!

  • "Location good, apartment incredibly spacious, it's just the floors, they were so dirty even though as you looked at them they were fine."

Our socks and feet were a dark grey and had hairs and fluff on. We used a laundry bar on our socks before putting them in the wash and they're still black, we've had to buy new socks as they're just trashed unfortunately. Trouble is its hard to correct, yes give it a good clean but unless everyone staying takes their shoes off and tries to keep it clean it never will be. That said it wouldn't stop us going again, just take dark cheap socks or slippers with a dark bottom!

  • "Lovely apartment, well equipped with great acces to the sea."

Howard was also always available and very helpful. Only criticism would be the comfort of the double bed mattress and the poor WiFi signal. However, this would not put us off coming again.

About the location

DAWLISH WARREN

Dartmoor 13 miles; Exeter 11 miles; Teignmouth 5 miles; Dawlish 2 miles.

A couple of miles north east of the town of Dawlish is Dawlish Warren, a mile-long sand beach at the mouth of the River Exe on the stretch of south Devon coastline known as the English Riviera. Dawlish Warren has a selection of shops selling essentials, a golf course and a 55-acre nature reserve, an area of international importance for wildlife, and a roosting site for huge numbers of wading birds and wildfowl that winter on the estuary. The Nature Reserve is also home to more than 450 species of flowering plants including the rare Warren or Sand Crocus. Guided tours around the Reserve are available in the summer season. The beach at Dawlish Warren is a sandy Blue Flag beach backed by sand dunes and small lakes and stretches for miles to reach the Exe Estuary in one direction and Dawlish town in the other. A safe beach, lifeguarded in summer, provides a perfect place for seaside fun, and has many free, open-air events, children's entertainers and spectacular firework and air displays during the summer season. Dawlish Warren has a railway station on the Exeter to Newton Abbot line, one of the most scenic railway journeys in the country. Nearby there is much to occupy the visitor along the English Riviera coastline including Paignton Zoo, the Dartmouth Steam Railway, the picturesque fishing harbour of Brixham and the long pier and promenade at Teignmouth. A typically English seaside resort, great for family holidays at any time of year.
