  • "This apartment is a great size."

It’s living area is big and open plan. We had read the reviews of others in advanced so came armed with toilet roll, hand soap, cleaning wipes, washing up liquid etc. My recommend for others traveling in the winter months is to also bring a decent torch or 2. The lane leading to the apartment block is unlit and uneven and while we were there the lights on the steps up to the apartment doors were not on. Location wise it’s great. Once we parked the car on our first day we didn’t move it again until we left. The train station is a couple of minutes walk away and the public transport system is great. We hopped on trains and buses all week to explore the area. The patio doors from B2 have dropped so we couldn’t really open them. When we did it took a lot of effort to get them closed again. The property could do with a vacuum left in there as the floor gets grubby quite quickly with the muck on the lane. The sweeping brush didn’t really do the job. Due to COVID we were left a bottle of pink mystery liquid and a cloth. I’m guessing this was some kind of antiviral cleaner but as it was unlabelled we didn’t use it and just used our own stuff. We were asked to strip the beds before we left and were horrified at the stains we had been sleeping on for the week. The information booklet asked us to leave the apartment by 9am to allow for extra cleaning but I don’t think they spend enough time in each apartment judging from the dust we found. My advise to other travellers would also be to clean the mugs, glasses and plates before you use them. There isn’t a dish washer and you don’t know how well the people before you cleaned them before they left.

  • "One roll of toilet paper for 6 people, no hand wash,no washing up liquid (no dishwasher) 1 T towel and no WiFi in the unit and no lock on the bathroom door."

Exactly as I reported 3 years ago when we stayed in the same apartment. Apparently constructive criticism is not acted upon.

  • "We have just come back from a wonderful week away in Dawlish Warren, staying in Apartment B2."

The apartments lived up to expectations, it was clean, spaceous and in the perfect location. The checking and departature porcedures were straightforward. All your bedding and towels were provided, there was a couple of toilet rolls in the bath room and the kitchen had all the basics you would expect includung 1 tea towel, cloth and scouring pad. I would advice you take swing bin liners rather than bin bags as the bin was on the small size. The only thing I wouls say was missing was a lock on the bathroom door.

  • "On arrival there was nothing in the way of washing up liquid, cleaning supplies, extra cleaning cloths."

Also there wasn't a welcome bottle of milk, tea, sugar etc. Nothing at all. After a long drive with 2 young children we then had to go out again to find a local shop so that we could have a cuppa! In all other properties we have stayed in there is usually a pint of milk, and other welcome bits ....I always replace later in the week when we have found local supermarket. Otherwise, the property met expectations. Clean, tidy, plenty of space. Location is great for the beach and attractions for children, with well stocked shops.

  • "Had a fabulous week staying at this property, with my Mum and 2 children aged 14."

It was very clean and tidy, decoration was nice and furnished well. It was a good spacious apartment. We had everything we needed for our stay. It was great having the beach within a short walk, which meant we didn't have to pay out on car park charges when visiting the beach. The beach was really nice and very clean, large beach with soft sand, life guards on duty, so felt very safe with the kids going into the sea. Also nice to have dog free beaches. Plenty of places to buy takeaway food and nice restaurants, also with-in walking distance. We were very lucky with the weather, we might have struggled to find things to do if it had rained. I would definitely recommend this accommodation and location for a good family holiday. Beautiful part of the country, best holiday we have had in years.

  • "The apartment was nicely decorated and clean and in a good location but the settee was damaged and held together with black gafffa tape."

The beds were not very comfortable and there were many small things missing which we have become used to when renting from Sykes. One toilet rolll for 6 people, One bin bag for the pedal bin, no washing up liquid, no hand soap, no welcome pack with tea and coffee. The cupboards were completely bare. There was no hairdryer and the wi fi was very slow and intermittent.

Dawlish Warren has a selection of shops selling essentials, a golf course and a 55-acre nature reserve, an area of international importance for wildlife, and a roosting site for huge numbers of wading birds and wildfowl that winter on the estuary. The Nature Reserve is also home to more than 450 species of flowering plants including the rare Warren or Sand Crocus. Guided tours around the Reserve are available in the summer season. The beach at Dawlish Warren is a sandy Blue Flag beach backed by sand dunes and small lakes and stretches for miles to reach the Exe Estuary in one direction and Dawlish town in the other. A safe beach, lifeguarded in summer, provides a perfect place for seaside fun, and has many free, open-air events, children's entertainers and spectacular firework and air displays during the summer season.
