  • "Lion House is a lovely, comfortable, nicely furnished and equipped home."

    Good powerful showers and a nice bed and bedding.The house has everything we could possibly want for a week stay and much that we didn’t use. It has great views across Dawlish and out to sea and the bonus of an Ev charger. Dawlish is a great friendly place to stay. Handy for a number of national trust properties. We also drove up onto Dartmoor. Dawlish station provides regular trains to Teignmouth Exeter and Plymouth which are worth visiting. We had a very enjoyable week.

  • "A lovely stay in a beautiful house."

    It’s location makes it a good for accessing the surrounding areas. The owners have thought of everything to make this a home from home. It was great to have all of the essentials provided and it’s probably the most well equipped property that we have stayed in. Having access to the EV charger was brilliant for us and Julie was very reasonable about the additional charges for its use.

    Comfy, clean tidy and everything is catered for. Its a real home from home! This property is also perfectly located 5 minutes walk from the centre of town. A big thank you to the owners, who went out of their way to give our arrival the wow factor and our stay perfect!!

    Everything about the property is quality. We were absolutely delighted - Lion House exceeded our expectations. Beautifully decorated, immaculately presented, spotlessly clean, great location and so many thoughtful touches that made our holiday so special. Fresh flowers, biscuits and chocolates on arrival were such a lovely touch, especially after our 6 hour journey! Too many good things to mention about this beautiful house with it’s beautiful views. We had bad weather all week but staying at Lion House made our holiday memorable and an amazing experience. We would definitely recommend this to our closest friends and family and we would love to return again. Thank you

The property

Lion House, a contemporary semi-detached Edwardian house, is set in the seaside town of Dawlish, Devon.

Welcoming six guests, Lion House is the perfect base to begin your ultimate Devon getaway, fully-equipped and beautifully furnished for a self-catered stay, whilst enjoying sea and hill views, a south-facing patio, and a private veranda.

The spacious, fully fitted kitchen/diner has all the necessary equipment to make your self-catered stay a success; your group chef should enjoy rustling up a tasty dish before settling at the dining table to tuck in with a bottle of wine.

Start your day with an early morning coffee while watching the sun rise over the sea, and in the evening, sit back and relax with a glass of wine and watch the sun set over the hills.

In warmer weeks savour alfresco mealtimes with magnificent vistas of the coast and hills as your backdrop.

When the stars appear overhead, retreat into an inviting sitting room and watch some of your favourite TV shows and Netflix films.

When tired, you can retire upstairs to be welcomed by luxury bedding and plush beds, offering the ideal setting to unwind before another day of activities; with a king-size bed, double bed and twin singles, the property is ideal for families or 3 couples.

For exploring, perhaps leave the car and walk to the town beach and sea front ten minutes away, or reach Coryton Cove in approximately 20 minutes.

Alternatively walk along the coast path to Teignmouth or to Dawlish Warren, and perhaps choose to get the train back; many visitors find they rarely use a car during their stay, as the scenic coastal railway takes them to such delights North as Starcross, Exeter and Topsham, or South to Teignmouth, Torquay, and Plymouth.

From Starcross you can take the foot ferry towards Exmouth, or perhaps travel by foot ferry from Teignmouth towards the unspoilt village of Shaldon.

By car, reach a wealth of attractions including Dartmoor, the Donkey Sanctuary, Butterfly Farm, Powderham Castle, historic Dartmouth and arty Totnes.

For an extended day out, for all of the family, head for Paignton, where you can aboard the steam train to Kingwear, followed by the foot ferry to Dartmouth, enjoy the return cruise up to the River Dart, before returning to Paignton by train.

Further attractions, especially suitable for the children of your group include Crealy Theme Park, Plymouth Aquarium, and Dartmoor Zoo.

Exeter is also a must visit, peppered with eateries on its historic renovated waterfront, the cathedral, museums, and art galleries.

It seems certain you will not want your getaway to end, with so much to see and do!

DAWLISH

Teignmouth 3 miles; Exeter 13.4 miles; Exmouth 19.7 miles

A charming seaside town set on the southern coast. The town of Dawlish offers all of the facilities for day-to-day living including a pleasant variety of shops, restaurants and cafés and a small theatre. Dawlish is famous for its Black Swans that live with other wildfowl on the Dawlish Water that runs through the central town park down to the sea, at night in the summer it is beautifully lit by strings of coloured lights. Dawlish comes with a wonderful, sandy beach with a crazy golf course also nearby, it is the perfect place for a family holiday. Up the coast is Dawlish Warren that can be reached by car or train or, for those energetic types, a walk along the sea wall. Further afield, Dawlish mainline station offers access to Exeter, Exmouth, Torquay, Paignton or even Plymouth, trains are plentiful.
