  • "Loved the flat, met the owners who put right the t."

    V. which didn't work when we got there, couldn't have been apologetic enough, lovely couple. Approach wasn't the best due to the uneven ground and steps.

  • "Perfect spot for basically everything."

Shops and things to do in the village but also close to visit other places like Polperro or Fowey for example. Comfy bathroom with hot shower. Good bed. We liked all about it.

  • "Thank you! We had a fabulous stay at The Barrcuda Flats in Looe."

Great location, generally a superb flat with everything you need for a great stay. Shops nearby for picking up food if you want to cook. Lovely to find milk in the fridge on arrival. Great surprise to find chocolate and wine with a card from the owners suggesting things to do. Parking at Millpool is fairly priced, lots of spaces, very secure, easy to find and just a short walk away from the centre of Looe and the flat. Lots to see and do in Looe and surrounding area where the apartment benefits from being so central to everything. Equally you could just sit and watch the world go by in the harbour for many hours. Great places to eat and drink all a short walk away. Description for location is spot on. Flat is comfortable with a lovely private courtyard at the back where we did have lunch. Lovely to hear the Clock Tower ringing in the morning. Well equipped kitchen, great shower. The bedroom was super bright and airy with a comfortable bed. Two points we would like to mention as constructive feedback, not complaining. The tap in the kitchen is wobbly, the hot and cold are the wrong way round. When you’ve poured a glass of hot water once, you won’t do it again, just needs a plumber. The settee is not the very comfortable to sit on at all. We understand it’s a bed settee which we didn’t need but can’t think it would be great to sleep on either! We didn’t stay in much so wasn’t a major problem for us, although it would be the only thing we suggest needs upgrading. Thank you again, we hope we will visit Looe another time and would book again. We will recommend the Barrcuda Flat if anyone asks us.

About the location

LOOE

Polperro 5 miles.

Looe is Cornwall’s second largest fishing port and hence there is always a lively maritime bustle around the quay area of East Looe, which is connected to the quieter West Looe by a seven arched 19th century bridge over the River Looe. You can also catch the river taxi between East and West Looe. East Looe has narrow cobbled streets, twisting alleyways and plenty of tourist shops, whilst West Looe has a lovely outlook across the harbour. Looe’s viewpoint, Banjo Pier, can be reached from the quay and is a great spot to watch the returning fishing trawlers and look across the bay to Looe Island, which can be walked to occasionally at very low tides. The sandy Looe beach adjoins the pier and is very popular with families because of its safe shallow swimming and vast expanse of sand. There is also a great rock pool area at Hannafore that children will love. West Looe has a Heritage Centre that recently opened in the Old Sardine Factory with a climbing wall and a cafe and the delightful Kilminorth Woods have way marked walks through the majestic oak wood, rich in plant, insect and bird life. Apart from beach activities in this part of south east Cornwall, there are many mining remains on Bodmin Moor and in the Tamar Valley and much of the mining landscape has World Heritage status. This area of Cornwall has inspired writers, such as Daphne du Maurier and much of Bodmin Moor has inspired legends linked with King Arthur. There is much to explore in this beautiful part of Cornwall. East Looe is also the setting for the fiction town of Shipton Abbot featured in the popular TV series Beyond Paradise
